I actually enjoy Tobey's portrayal of Peter. He gets the nerdy, wallflower part of his character just right, and, as cringy people think it is, it's the whole point. Peter Parker is supposed to be a complete dork.
@@danw3441 when is he cringey as spider man? Some of the lines sure, but in the action scenes, the train scene, the fighting scenes, he's pretty awesome, to me at least
On top of that, I'd personally find it pretty hard to make quips with all the shit going on in Peter's life constantly throughout the trilogy. It's probably a pretty difficult task. Being jovial when everything that could go wrong in your life is going wrong sounds like way too much to ask from a nerdy guy.
@@Draven7970 dude why you watch these videos after the movie came out everyone comes back to old videos and it wasnt a big spoiler legit they just said he cured his back lmao
@@BustaDG exactly it's an OLD video, I thought I was safe. Yeah it's not a big deal I know, but I've been trying to avoid all the leaked footage and this just pinched a nerve.
That whole scene where Peter said “I’m back!” and then hurt his back was super funny, but it’s even funnier when you realize that he said “I need a strong focus” and then landed on a Ford Focus
I love the symbolism of money bags being thrown at the financially struggling Spider-Man, who’s trying to stop the bank robbery at the bank who denied their loan and free toaster. Then that same banker attempted to steal some loose gold for himself, and is slapped by the financially struggling Aunt May. *There is a Hero in all of us.*
@Owenboy360 He's not. That scene could have been executed completely differently but they didn't. In a good film not one scene should go wasted and this is in fact a good film.
Irl though, no way would Aunt May have actually been denied the loan, unless New York had their own laws regarding giving people loans they aren’t really qualified to have.
Andrew and Tom definitely are the quippier Spider-Men, but Tobey’s come off the most natural. Like, it’s genuinely feels like Peter is improving on the spot, which he is
Right?! At one point it felt like Andrew’s Spidey was doing a legit standup comedy routine when he should’ve been stopping the bad guy. 🤦♀️ Like, why? Just because fans wanted more quips? It’s just not natural or realistic in a grounded live action setting during life or death situations lol. Tom’s Spidey is better at balancing that. But I always thought Tobey’s was the most natural/realistic portrayal of how a real life Spider-Man would probably act. You can tell he has fun in the suit, but he also takes it seriously as a job.
@@digitalbritt2k and who are you to decide what and how it feels real or not? For me it was smooth,i dont get this mega critic mentality of you and other from there
@@emanuelmaldoileacont8253 It's based on opinion my guy. I happen to agree with @Digital Britt. There are points where Andrew is stopping to talk to the Rhino while people are literally in mortal terror. Tobey may not have the highest frequency of jokes, but when he can tell them, he will. If Doc Ock's only robbing a bank, then he will shout 'Here's your change!' while incapacitating him with a bag of coins. Andrew took his time to fully introduce himself to the Rhino while he rampaged through the streets. Also, don't call someone who's sharing their opinion a mega critic while you crap all over them. I don't want the internet to be any more of a crap storm.
I totally agree, Raimi does really well to make New York as a city into its own character. The extras are It’s voice and he often lets them have their time in the spotlight rather than a simple backdrop for Spider-Man’s playground.
5:00 is always gonna be one of my favorite quips from Tobey, normally the characters never seem to question how the villains have such abnormal abilities
Green Goblin: A guy with brain damage after a super power experiment gone wrong Doc Ock: Another experiment disaster which disfigured the inventor and drove him insane Sandman: A wanted man who fell in a particle accelerator Venom: A disgruntled rival who bonded with an extraterrestrial
Well, MJ was already deepthroating Harry behind Peter's back, so, well deserved, bro earned that kiss. Plus, Gwen is much hotter and cuter than that rotten orange
Yeeeeeeah I think with all the SJW crap this joke wouldn't land these days. You know. He's making fun of big guy POSSIBLY having a husband!! (Nothing wrong with being gay. But the jokes are just the jokes)
@@looniemoonie5955 Funnily enough, I see hundreds more comments about how "SJWs would cancel a film for making a joke like this nowadays" than I see people complaining about the joke.
@@ozalym Oh look, another comment saying exactly the same thing. Still haven't seen someone complain about the joke itself. Keep being the victim, buddy
@@ozalym So why would people not be mad about this joke in hindsight? Are these people simultaneously smart enough to understand that it was a "sign of the times", while also thinking it would be a completely unacceptable joke to make today? Just accept that you're making a complete strawman argument. Nobody is saying what you're claiming.
Yeah, I wish they were more isolated from each other and grounded. We’ve had a lot of planet level threats, and now we’re getting multiple universal/multiverse threats. There’s really nowhere to go but down… or go super meta.
You left out two quips from Spider-Man 1. (Peter Parker saying, I had to beat an old lady with a stick to get this) (And Spider-Man with Mary Jane, in the scene of the kiss, where Spider-Man says, you have a knack for getting in trouble). But great video.
I love how it literally sounds like one liners from the 60s. Don't get me wrong, I love modern the Spider-Man portrayed by Tom Holland. But this just brings me back to the Stan Lee John Romita era. Have to say it's pretty ironic that Spider-Man 3 had the best lines despite being the worst of the bunch
I guess with how dramatic Tobey's Spiderman/Peter is, I kinda didn't realize all these little quips existed, but with this video, it made me remember that Peter Parker is supposed to be witty and funny, too, and that Tobey actually does a good job of getting them in there.
You know it’s going to be a good video when Spider-Man 3 is more than half the video. In all seriousness, some people don’t like the lack of quips Spider-Man provides, but personally I think it suited who he is. Peter Parker is supposed to be nerdy and dorky and a bit socially awkward. He’s not supposed to be the class clown or someone to crack a lot of jokes. He also gets better with quips definitely as the films go on as he becomes more confident and outgoing and I think it works perfectly. The quips are also very funny and creative.
People hate this trilogy? This trilogy is one of the reasons the MCU exists today. It totally jump started the popularity of superhero movies. The other superhero movies before this were pretty shit. Tim Burton's Batman and Robin....Daredevil.... Oh god.
@@pokemaster123ism He had spider powers though. He was given a gift, which was great power, but he wasn’t being responsible with it. And because of that, his uncle died.
Watching some of the Spider-Man 3 clips I'm starting to realize why Peter liked Venom so much. Sure it made him toxic, but he felt great strength and confidence that put him ahead in life. In other words, Venom solved all his problems in exchange for him being kind of a douche.
It's mainly Joss Whedon's fault. It's his schtick to have akward comedic moments like that (as many saw in Justices League as well) and after the Avengers did well, Disney just stuck with his formula for the later movies.
Tom fan girls are cringeworthy and toxic 12 year old girls. Did you guys saw that video where they were insulting Sebastian Stan and Anthony McKay in an event in front of Tom?
xDrizzy jeez buddy dude chillllll😂I’m just saying the truth because slot of these are not quips🤦🏻♂️quips are jokes (Spider-Man)! Makes during fight battles to distract and hide emotions it’s actually one of his ability’s so accept and calm down👍🏼
I like how Tobey isn’t as quippy as Andrew & Tom, much of their quips, especially Tom’s, are cringy & feel heavily scripted 😑 Tobey’s quips feel natural, plus with such weight on his shoulders, him joking loads would feel out of place. Great version of Spidey. 🕷
“I’m gonna put some dirt in your eye” This has to be the hardest most intimidating thing anyone can say. Especially when little Toby says it. Truly terrifying.
I think that’s where Spectacular got that inspiration. Where the more Peter wore the black suit, the more it corrupts him to the point where he says “we”, instead of “I”. Hell, Spectacular did have a lot of references from the Raimi films.
@@justinesun631 The Raimi films are very well established at this point and left a big mark on Spider-Man iconography and references. They included so many nods in “Into The Spider-Verse” which was really cool to see. 🕷🕸
@@justinesun631, That was in Spider-man 2, when Aunt may was kidnapped by Dr. Octopus and she wacked him we with a umbrella. So, basically he meant that they worked together to stop Dr. Octopus. Just letting you know. Also, I miss the Spectacular Spider-man. It was part of my childhood, watching it every Saturday mornings.
@@muneebnadeemabbassi3295 It was going to have 5 Seasons at least and a movie "Remember the Spectacular Spider-Man? THE SHOW THAT YOU MURDERED IN COLD BLOOD?"
I'd go as far as to say he actually quips more than Tom Holland's Spider-Man does. The MCU's definition of humor for his movies is just awkward teenage moments and a weak punchline.
@@jarrroood1174 Difference is that Tobey sounds confident in the suit. He plays Spiderman and Peter. Meanwhile Tom is unable to play both, only playing Peter. When the suit goes on, instead of becoming a new and cooler alter ego, he instead remains unconfident and seen as a joke.
2:12 that guy played zendayas brother in shake it up, now she’s in Spider-Man. Ik he’s not directly affiliated but it’s funny and that other kid on the right is in a few films I can’t remember which ones tho
