One thing on the boss fight: It DOES trigger the M3, but the Boss does not get decay. And this is the case with all SINGLE enemies. You need at least two enemies next to each other to apply decay, weakening the Gun even further.
You pretty much nailed everything I also think is wrong with the ASE. The mysteriums work against each other and don't synerigize that well compared to a lot of other weapons or spells mysteruims. Nice vid and looking forward to more. Cheers.
Thanks for this video! ASE really didn't click with me and I think you explained very well why. I never really found a reason to use it in stead of Hypnosis, which I absolutely love.
awesome video - i remember that back when WF came out i used ASE for the first boss to get rid of all the ads and it was amazing for that =) - It still has its uses, especially clearing up some slots in the loadout because you can use this for aoe and decay infliction - BUT as you said in the video - there is almost nothing worse for single target in the game. And especially with the high elite density in higher gnosis the weapon will be a dead slot very often. You can of course solve the single target with your other weapon slot, but the AOE will be way better solved by spells. So the usecase for this weapon would be, dense aoe fights with low health enemy where you can trigger decay reactions and have a build that has very low spell regeneration - So its suuuuuuuuuuuper narrow and usually only really happens in the earlier stages of the game - Stuff like tower level one is one of the best case scenarios of the weapon, but you can solve that with almost everything and that deletes the reason to bring it. this of course could also change without a redesign - we do not know what future maps will bring, or what new arcana comes out or even new equipment that might make this more usefull - a cool redesign would be to create a blight cyst on the target in the center of the eye (as iris basically) on crit - that you can pop instantly for aoe or let grow to explode against single target - this would also help the economy since it would slow down the fight against single targets, giving you enough amunition to actully kill something with it. Great Video!
Couldnt have said it better. I like the idea of a "Mini blight Cyst". The devs should try several options and see what works. But imho the most important change would be to reduce the thresholds drastically.
Excellent breakdown. I loved ASE in older versions of the games but it definitely needs some love now. Do Hypnosis next! Still haven't figured out if I like using it or not. The timed shots are fun but I haven't really found synergies I like.
Hypnosis is love, dear :) I think you should pair it with fire. It's lightning based, so fire works well. It does high damage, so stake will get triggered easily. But for sure, i can do Hypnosis next. But I guess it will be after the weekend!
I'm playing Witchfire for around 30h now so I'm still kinda new but I definitely see that ASE needs some buff. I really enjoyed it on Gen 1 (started Shadow) but it quickly fell off and didn't really picked up even on mysterium 3 for me, just like you said, it just need SOMETHING. I would love to watch and hear your opinion about hypno if we are in the topic of rifles :). Subbed!
Very good point on that weapon ! This is one I always want to use because of the way it looks and shoots but the lack of constistency on single target keeps pushing me away from it. This is definetely not what I would expect from a rifle. I hope devs will listen to you and change that in a near future.
Well we have so much time until 1.0 that they can Focus on more important stuff, but one day it should receive some love. I also love how the weapon feels, its just that I dont like the numbers I see :D
Great video! I have two issues with the ASE: first is that Decay doesn't apply to the target that is shot, which greatly decreases its usefulness against tankier enemies (it's more efficient to shoot a weaker nearby enemy to apply the Decay to the tanky one). The second and main issue is that the M1 and M2 effects directly oppose each other; if I shoot one (or two) of several full health enemies the shockwave will deal damage to the remaining ones, which lowers their health below the 75% threshold and makes it so that I can't proc the M1 on them, the gun is quite literally gimping itself. I'd like to see a video on the Hypnosis, I quite like that gun but am not sure it's worth taking over the Striga at the moment.
@@chr_isso being a long term third country boy I just don't have that habit. I found it hard even to ask :D I might as well try it thank you for suggestion and amazing videos
ASE was a great weapon in early game. Right now (on gnosis 2) i can feel the downfall of the utility and looking for other options when it comes down to ranged gunplay. To be honest, i am slightly scared to switch to gnosis 3 right now. Both Hailstorm (ammo economy) and Basilisk have pros and cons, only Hypnosis is a viable option or the Striga gun if you can track the enemies movement correctly. That's how I feel right now after 20 hours in the game.
I think the step to Gnosis 2 is harder than to Gnosis 3. But then to 4 .. on irongate .. oh boy, it slaps! I can only recommend the Meta Builds Video or if you're into it - try Echo. A lot of poeple love it.
I'd love to see a buff like increasing the base damage and lowering the bonus damage from the M1 to compensate. The M3 should also always trigger decay or when they are above 50% health or just.....something. I feel like you're not really giving the gun a fair chance in the video by spamming AoE spells. The whole point of the weapon is to be your AoE so you can run other spells like ice stilleto and rot fiend (bro)
You might be right with the fair Chance: but I think not for the right reason: I showcase the weapon as a "single" use weapon instead of showing it how it works with others. The gun is intended to start the engagement, apply decay and aoe an then you switch to other weapons. But I still think you are right on the m1/m3 point. Dont get me wrong, I like the gun but I think.. there are simply better guns.
@@chr_isso yeah totally, its a sweet concept for a gun but right now there are plenty of other tools available that get the same job done better. Ive been using it with rotweaver for a decay focused build, and even then I find myself tagging enemies with rotweaver for 1 dmg just to apply decay because ASE M3 is unreliable.
ASE is my least used Weapon! When I 1st got the weapon I immediately noticed its horrendous Stats, and I thought to myself there is no way this thing is already bad right off the bat. When compared to the Hypnosis it had basically half of its stats all for except Ammo, so damn it had to have a silver lining or extremely strong ability right? Got all three Mysteriums and damn the weapon was a contradiction, low base damage meant the increased damage on Healthy enemies meant that it still did mediocre damage when compared to Hypnosis uncharged Shots, but the argument against it would be its Area of Effect damage... This does not help the gun at all, because you shoot at the start of the fight for a decent AOE effect and then bam its a peashooter for the rest of the encounter. The Decay effect is also bad cause it doesn't even seem consistent on its AOE at all, I've shot crowds got the the effect on 3/5 enemies and not even the main target got the effect. All in all, the gun desperately needs some love, the simplest fix would be the increase the base damage to be closer to an uncharge Hypnosis and speed up its reload speed, this way the weapon would have an exceptional opener and still be good throughout the fight as the High base ammo and consistent firerate would be a boon.
I still like the gun, especially for beginners who need a little bit of range. I still think it's a good gun if you pair it with e.g. Hunger. The decay on initial target will get added, but the rest of the gun is not so intuitive. You need to literally align enemies because the shockwave is actually a cone behind the enemy, not a circle around it.
They should make it, so the all seeing eye has its third Mysterium Prock on your HP instead of enemies, rewarding you for playing well and avoiding damage and punishing you if you play poorly
Interestin a video about Midas. On third upgrade this look like good sinergy with burning stake, but need time for overheat and ammo efectivenes is a question. Good or not idea use Kirfane with it.
Midas has an absolute broken combo which can actually.. rip everything. Someone on the discord discovered it and I'm afraid to showcase how good the gun is lol
@@chr_isso Are you testing Kirfane with autorifle or Rothweaver? Can Kiffane be beter in this case then Madwoman eye or Banshee blood? This arc proc look good on paper.
I am a Psychopomp sympathizer, but you're probably right that for the average player the stamina usage + close range is too big of a hurdle. You have to rely on hit-and-run tactics but not every part of every map + enemy matchup is conducive to that. Psychopomp M3 is an absolute beast though, I invested a lot into Stamina and run it with Ring of Wings for farming the First Familiar and that thing mows down entire camps AND the boss. If you can gauge how much HP an enemy has left you'll always be comboing kills into heavy attacks and *regenerating* (not reloading!) your ammo, it's practically infinite. The fact that it holds 10 bullets at once is crazy too with the M2 since it means if you get a good stun on an enemy you delete them by spamming left click, you can easily deal 2/3-3/4 of the First Familiar's health in a single stun with it.
I guess what I'll say is that ASE outperforms shotguns for the average player. You would need so much stamina to use shotguns effectively... and I don't have a lot because I'm a filthy spell spammer.
