My friend as someone who enjoys your videos. I’m from California where in 1995 a craclhead not only managed to just walk into a military base but then took a tank from said military base and drive it in San Diego
Or “Transfer of Hardware by Enemy’s Forceful Takeover” (T.H.E.F.T.) of Gundams Or “Tactical Hardware and/or Equipment Forceful Transfer” (T.H.E.F.T.) of Gundams Or Gundam “Takeover of Hardware by Enemy Forces and/or Thieves” (T.H.E.F.T.)
More or less the entire plot of Seed could have been avoided if the Earth Alliance had forgotten about all that fancy neutron-jammer tech and invested in a solid set of bicycle locks.
Developing a gundam is quite similar to raising a daughter, you give her toys and watch her grow, make sure she can fend off for herself out there and make you proud one day, only for an angsty teenage boy to come and steal your baby from you and use her deadly beam weaponry and laser katanas to wage wars in space that will decide the future of mankind
Especially that **HEERO** brat. He abandons her, tries to kill her, and then when all the dust settles he goes after another to the do the same thing all over again until he settles for the actual girl chasing him relentlessly.
I can already predict the ending. MC heads to the hanger to head off for the final battle, only find his Gundam stolen. The scene ends with lasers and explosions happening outside the hanger with MC staring at the empty hanger space in disbelief.
The Build Burning, actually, *isn't* stolen. It was stored in the trophy which was put in the gunpla shelf (while disguised as a Dom), accidentally discovered, and used by Sekai when he was given permission to pick one for use. Later Sei passed the spare parts to Yuuma which solidifies the ownership of the Build/Try Burning, but from day 1 it was pretty much Sekai's.
@@arieltimeshrine8137 you can take it that way, personally I compare it to going to a car dealer ship being offered to pick one, and then you drive off with one of the workers’ car, yeah they were allowed to pick, just not that one. I would consider it stealing because the intent wasn’t for Seki to get it and for Sei to keep it there for safe keeping for Reiji. I guess think of it as you go to a store and then you take out one of the display pieces. Idk °3°
One of the rules in the Gundam fight is that a pilot is responsible for their own Gundam so if they lose it it's on them. Would love to hear you dive into some G Gundam topics, it's my all time favorite anime so love hearing other Gundam fans discuss it especially UC fans
I would argue that it's not easy at all. When you look at the actual numbers, you might have one or two machines stolen from an military force that has hundreds or thousands of them. And in many - not all, but many of the stolen machines were taken by advanced and complex military operations.
Not gonna lie. When I was still in service I stole a lot of military properties too, cause the pay was crap and I was "ambiguously conscripted" in the first place. From basic gear to rifle parts, small firearms to mortar rounds. Some guy I knew even managed to steal some Tanks and APC/IFV's. That guy got lots of connections with the top brass. The military was so corrupt so it happened on all levels. From Generals to a buck private. As long as everyone involved gets a cut. Thats why I joined the Logistics Corps when I was given a chance to transfer. Finished my service period and used the profits to start my own farm.
Being a Gundam just means being part of the same technological line..... "Gundam" is just a line of mobile suits that are all connected back to the original..... "Technologically speaking" so no GM ground.... just a GM..... Gundam ground.... it has a different production line.....
A bit of tidbit on the Strike Freedom: Originally when the Freedom was still in production, Zaft was planning to create a mass production version of the Freedom, which was the strike freedom prototype. But due to the Dragoon system not being fully tested and the thrusters not completed until the war in CE71 ended, the prototype was scrapped and the data was sealed away until Terminal infiltrated Zaft and steal away the data of the prototype SF and the test data of ZAFT’s second generation Gundams to create the SF in CE73. As for the Infinite Justice (IJ), Terminal had also stolen the data of Justice Gundam about the same time when the theft on SF prototype happened, then built the IJ by using both the Justice’s data and ZAFT second gen gundams’, mainly the Gaia’s battle/test data, along with Athrun’s piloting data to create the IJ, hence the leg beam saber on the IJ since Athrun had the experience of using the Aegis’ leg mounted beam saber in close combat. Edit: double checked and corrected most of the errors
@@shauqiharris2772 nope. But the development and history of Astray prototypes MS is full of stealing/hijacking Astray was developed using stolen data of EA G-Project. Five prototypes were developed. But all development of the prototypes are ordered to be destroyed. Rondo Gina Sahaku disagreed with the decision and allegedly stolen three prototypes ( Gold/Red/Blue) to prevent its destruction. Two other prototypes ended up at other faction. Green Frame: ended in a different faction, Rondo Mina Sahaku faction Unit no 5: ended up with Librarian Works. Turned to Delta Mirage Astray.
@@shauqiharris2772 IiRc, the Out Frame was developed using Testament Gundam's spare frame. Personally, I see it as a hybrid variant of testament+astray parts. Like a kitbash. Noir's a bit "special" since it was not part of the original Morgenroete 5 prototypes frame. It was developed by Actaeon and got a different model designation, MBF-P0X. As how Actaeon got the Astray basic design schematics from Morgenroete, I suncerely don't know. Not gonna lie, when I saw the model MBF-P0X, I misread it as MBF-P010 (since X was number 10) was thinking they were more of the Morgenroete's prototypes in existence instead of only 5. Once I read the mangas and the novels, my hopes were lost. Astray design is so cool that it made me buy the MG and RG red frame version although I only buy HG kits due to limited space.
"Wait, if France is broke, why do the king and queen still wear such fancy dresses? 'Let's overthrow the palace and cut all their heads off!' Said Robespierre, cutting everybody' head off until someone eventually got mad and cut his head off. You could make a reli- no, don't." ~ Bill Wurtz - History of the Entire World, I Guess
Since you mentioned the Build Strike Cosmos as honorable mention, I would also mention the Scramble Gundam from Island Wars OVA. Went berserk and eventually physically taken (for all of 5 seconds) by Aila and Reiji's daughter (unnamed).
What if Gundam’s had car alarms, would that help reduce any Gundam theft? Notifying the hanger crew before they even break into the cockpit would be a lot of help
@@blackcomet2nd950 No, the main problem was one Kakarot mentioned. Outside of the ONE time that Kira did so at Mu la Flaga's prodding at Artemis, nobody ever set up PASSWORD PROTECTION for the OS for any of the Gundams. Nor did anyone ever do so for their specs, either, if the Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice being stolen Gundams is, at all, accurate.
The fact that Lacus alone (a known pacifist) successfully stole not one, not two, not three, but four *(FIVE* if you count the ship made to carry the Freedom and Justice) of ZAFT's top secret weapons like it was nothing speaks volumes. *She almost feels like an arms smuggler now!* 🤣🤣
The strike freedom and infinite justice were produced using the leftover combat data from the freedom and justice respectively while also incorporating new technologies such as the hyper deuterium reactor however both units were constructed at terminals hidden asteroid base and they were designed for Kira and athrun respectively so no they were most definitely not stolen
I have to agree... I'm sure the Sinanju would have gotten a more Gundam esque head and other parts if it hadn't been stollen by Neo Zeon. all the other specs match up to it being a Gundam
And the fake gundam series such as Fake Nu gundam and Fake Arche could be considered stolen, since they are made from data that Alus "gathered" from GBN.
That reminds me! He forgot to mention the Bolt Gundam itself! It was stolen by Argo and Natasha at the end of the series when they went on to support Domon in battling the Dark Colony.
If you're counting the Astrays because they appeared in their animated segments, then you need to include the Sword Calamity that faced off with Gai at the end of his segment. It (along with a Raider Full Spec) was stolen by Ed the Ripper when he defected from the EA to fight against them with the South American Alliance.
Ummm... 15:17 It is the same thing in Wing. Since there are things like the Virgo Mobile Dolls which are made out of Gundanium Alloy and they are not called Gundams.
On the topic of why it would be so easy to steal a Gundam/military hardware - one issue is likely that these machines need to be able to be deployed on a moments notice. Like you mention with the secure military base thing - the security is in the base or the ship. But when you are under attack, you don't want to have to spend that extra 5 minutes putting in a complex password, looking for a special key or waiting for some kind of complex bioscan.
Spiegel Gundam is Schrödinger's Gundam. It's both stolen and not stolen. The other reason as to why the military doesn't put any safety locks on their machines (real life and fiction) is because they would need the power in case of an enemy attack or to be deployed quickly. Having safety locks would just waste precious time (even if it's just seconds).
Let's do non-anime stolen Gundams. We can divide them into many categories. Manga, Manga Non-UC, Arcade, Console, Light Novels, Magazine exclusives, etc.
Tbh I kinda like Mika-ZUKI more than Mi-KAZUKI. Mostly because he is called Mika, so it just sounds consistent. And speaking of which, due to the L/R thing in japan, I don't think it's wrong to westernize some names. Like I won't call Rau Le Creuset, Rau Ru Kurūze, even though that's how it's said in japanese. I call him by how his name is written in english, and how the dub calls him.
7:34 As a native San Diego resident....yeah pretty much. Was quite the spectacle though (and would've gone to 11 in a hurry if the dude had accomplices who could load and fire the cannon)
The three ships Alliance had Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice made by Lacus Clyne's people. It was made to dock with her ship. Also technically Gai got the Blue Frame from Lou. And most of these frames end up either given by Lou or upgraded by him and his pals here or there.
And incredibly accurate, for the context of SEED. Remember, the (initially junk) OS of the Strike had been re-written into something usable by Kira Yamato, the Strike's main pilot as well as a Coordinator. Because the Strike's controls had been optimized for an individual with the heightened reflexes of a Coordinator, a normal human trying to commandeer and operate the Strike for themselves would probably work out about as well as trying to walk straight whilst drunk. Let's just be glad Sai didn't attempt it while the Archangel wasn't in the middle of combat. Trying to do that in the middle of an active battlefield would've been like trying to drive while being too drunk to fish.
I always thought Lacus and her engineers had built the Strike Freedom themselves because they'd had access to the Freedom's data for the past two years, plenty of time for improvement. As for Infinite Justice? Space Wizards.
They still had to get the data on the Beam Shields, DRAGOON Tech, and the Destiny's Voiture Lumiere somehow from ZAFT. So that is why it is said in some background material that the two where developed by ZAFT and the plans later stolen by Lacus. However, I do think that they only stole the data on that tech and not the whole mobile suit to upgrade the plans they already had for the Freedom and the Justice.
Really appreciate you mentioning GM's Counterattack since apparently all of the Build Fighters side stuff isn't on RU-vid officially from what I can tell. All the Battlelouges and the two specials are gone when I tried to find them again after binge watching the first Build Fighters. I'm not the biggest fan of Seed. I don't hate it. I just find it the least desirable to go back to when I need a Gundam fix. It does a lot of things right when my brain isn't thinking "deja vu". Still if I were to live in any Gundam universe, then it would be Seed because getting a mobile suit seems less of a hassle than getting a car at times. I'd rather have a Gundam Ground Type or at least a GM, but I am not picky enough to turn down a chance at something like a civilian Astray.
9:48 I too shrug my shoulders when a weapon literally capable of wiping out all technology off the face of the Earth gets stolen. I mean, who hasn't had their doomsday weapons taken from them from time to time.
It is amazing to that it seems like Gundams are somehow stolen more than models actually exist. Especially when looking at Seed, the bigger question then is, what hasn't been stolen yet?
The Impulse Gundam, Savior Gundam, Providence Gundam, Legend Gundam, Akatsuki Gundam, Strike Rouge, Calamity Gundam,Raider Gundam and Forbidden Gundam. Edit: Sorry if I forget about other gundams that isn't stolen.
@@ryujokatagiri7019 Honorable mention:Gai Murakumo the serpent tail leader from seed astray did try to kill Lowe Guele in the beginning before becoming his friend. Edit:Same situation with Canard Pars from X Astray.
Wait, Deira Nadira stole Gremory? I thought it was inherited by the Nadira family. I read the english scanlation of IBO:Gekko manga and the translation stopped until chapter 4. I beg of you if you have more of the english translated source please share the link here.pleaseeee......
Honorable mention:Argi Mirage is going to kill a mafia boss but instead their got attack by some enemy mobile suit and the boss give him the Astaroth. Edit: It's from Iron blooded orphans gekko side story manga.
@Kakarot197 Overall really great list but I think there were just 5 suits you forgot and that was the Gundam Amazing Exia from Build Fighters being "borrowed without asking" by PPSE Chairman Mashita to fight Sei and Reji by turning it into the Gundam Exia Dark Matter. The Tertium Gundam from Build Divers Re:Rise being stolen by Alus and being turned into the Gundam Seltsam and forced to fight for him. The Force Impulse being "borrowed without asking" by Shinn to return Stella to Neo after Stella was captured. a whole bunch of Gundams being stollen by Tsukasa Shiba in the big battle with the first Coalition of Volunteers and yet again Tsukasa Shiba stealing Ayame's old team SD MS as leverage/a deal.
Can we get a bit where we see some rando trying to steal a gundam only find out it doesn't have the key to start And commenting that his/her plan should have work
In the Seed universe nothing is considered stolen when the unit assign to infiltrate the enemy base and take there new toy is actually under the command of your friends friends
Would the age 2 count as stolen cause I'm pretty sure they just found the wreckage of it in space and took it. Also would Setsuna going AWOL with the Exia for like 2 years count as stolen?!?
Not really. I always had some sort of head canon that Setsuna did not know that CB and some of his friends managed to live through the battle therefore decided to continue on with his mission without the support of the larger organization.
Gotta love a military that spends millions of dollars developing a mobile superweapon, only to forget to put a lock on its hatch or remote override device
@@ridleysomeliana-lauer5814 No, the manga Beltorchika’s Children was announced it’s getting an English release. Hathaway’s Flash is after CCA or Beltorchika’s Children.
In Gundam Seed all faction in Canon: we got this girl and her boyfriend keep stealing our Gundam Meanwhile in fanfiction crossover: the GDI or the Allied, Nod/Epsilon, the Soviet, and yes even the alien just steal not just Gundam also all the base.
I recall the Gaia being used in the battle to defend the Eternal while Kira got his tier 3 jesus powers, so they probably stole it like everything else yeah.
For the whole "walk up to a tank and drive off with it" thing...most if not all military vehicles use a switch start and not a key ignition system. Think how you turn the key to start a car, but it's literally just a switch. Yeah...
Honorable mention to Alus of divers rise who steals the Gundam Teritium by brainwashing the pilot, steals the concept for the core gundam and then just wholesale steals the earthree parts mid fight.
with the whole "they don't have the training to fly a fighter jet" tell that to the Taliban who is flying attack helicopters and driving US armor with no training.
Well, for the Red Frame, Erica told her friend Professor to collect it (as well as Blue Frame). So at least it was given by someone in charge of the project.
