Claude Debussy would be turning in his grave at this truly awful mishandling of one his greatest pieces. Is that a gorilla thumping away at a honky-tonk piano? So much reverb I feel like I’m drowning in it. And that embarrassingly cheesy and over the top choir? Oh man, talk about pilfering a great work to sell a giant corporations latest money-making endeavour - with little to no sensitivity, subtlety or understanding of how music should be respected, not hyped up into the stratosphere. And it should certainly not hit you over the head with a giant sledgehammer in order to evoke appropriate emotions for the story it’s supposed to be supporting.

@rytchbytchrockingclub3867
@rytchbytchrockingclub3867 9 месяцев назад
@@MobiusVideo As a musician and composer, I understand what you mean. I agree that there are many better versions around (I hated the reverb especially, too), and of course it is kind of a sin to only dip into the piece and leave us without most of the journey. But man, really - it's a movie trailer! To expect a trailer, or even a movie, to do justice to such a piece, that's just a nonsensical expectation. I once heard a music producer say that he'll never do film again because it hurts too much that the music always comes second to the picture. I get it. But still, movies need sound and music. There must be some sound in it. As a professional and an artist, I'm proud and happy if my music is selected to support, evoke and amplify emotions in a video, game or movie - that's just a different road to the same destination, one where the music is in the back seat. So what. Butchered or not, it still amplifies the viewers' emotions tenfold. That's what music does, and it's something to be proud of and happy about. I know very few professional compsers that would actually, really be unhappy if their piece was chosen for a movie. And anyway: If you'd play 10 of the world's most-respected "real artistic music" recordings of Clair De Lune to Debussy, or any piece of music to its composer, chances are that he or she will only really like 1 of them and disregard the others as too clumsy, to light, too heavy, too slow, too fast, too much or too little expressive, whatever - or like none at all. And if you'd ask again 20 years later, they'd likely love a different recording most. Isn't it great that there are many versions around, and each is loved best by a different part of humanity - this way, so many more people can love Debussy ;)

The thing with book is that you can only visualize it in your head. Seeing it visually in movies and it is very similar to what I imagine makes me really happy.

i first read this book when i was 10 and although i probably couldn't understand half of its meaning, i still remember that it left such an impression on me that it remained my favorite book for years. i plan on rereading it this week, and seeing it adapted to screen is making me emotional :') hope the series does it justice !

Fabulous book, MUST read. This looks really well done-- my only little snarky detail is personal: as a freckled person myself, they cast a girl who has none. It's constantly noted in the book.....Ioved the descriptions of her face being loud with freckles she could not see. It was such a visual. Also hope they are including the orphanage parts-- SO important!

I sincerely hope the short series does it justice. Never has a trailer elicit tears to well up at the onset of a soundtrack, but ANYTIME I think of ATLWCS, I hear the chords of Clair de Lune being gently struck, and imagine the solace depicted in spite of the terror abounding.

A blind girl and a man in different setting of war. I hope they do justice to the book in this adaptation

I read this book for summer reading when I was going into sophomore year. I was in an honors English class, and we were always taught to over-analyze every minute detail of literature and read in between the lines for metaphors and symbolism and all this other stuff. “All the Light” is proof that you don’t have to over-analyze a novel or piece to enjoy it. I have literally never been so enthralled with a book than when I first read “All the Light,” it was so amazingly written with stunning imagery. I can’t even describe it but after every reading session I could actually feel the impact the novel was having on me. Such a moving and compelling work, it deserves a Netflix series, and I’m glad they’re finally making it. I’ll be watching this when it releases
