I heard you saying that the bosal or snaffle are crudementary tools to begin communication with the horses mind and body, ultimately moving towards clear and subtle signals between bodies, rather than heads? Acute body awareness and consistency then seem key to success. This is where I struggle. Thanks for shining the light.

Was taught that you know to move on from the snaffle when they are doing everything you want them to do in the snaffle and doing it well. Happy New Year!!

Another good video Bret! I agree with everything you said except about me not being a Jedi. I guess I go really slow. I ride in each size hackamore for a year, give or take. So one of my horses will be 4ish years in the hackamore before I go to the two rein. Of course nothing is written in stone, it takes as long as it takes.

That is absolutely true that it takes the time it takes. I hope I wasn't over harsh in my statement what I meant was that it doesn't have to take years because it isn't written in stone like you say. There are a lot of influences that can make the process take longer or be shorter. The important thing is to enjoy the process for as long or as short as it takes.

Hey man, I need some help. I’m stumped. I got a 7 yr old mustang. This is the only horse that’s gave me problems. But some days he likes being catches then some days he will wave his head around and turn around and kick at me. I’ve been trying to train him. So I have gotten on him. Got him soft on the ground but when I get on him we will get going and if I ask him to do anything he gets all sassy and wants to stand up three times and then come down and kick. I have smacked him on the ass when he stands up and he gets pissed lol. How would u approach man? I have thought about laying him down. And someone told me when I lay him down put a tarp over his ass and leave him laying. He hates other horses. He loves to fight so I gotta keep him by himself. Id like to eventually get him to a using horse. I like him cause of the drafty cross size.

I dont suggest the tarp thing, Iv tried it and never had it work. Mustangs are a pain and aged mustangs are a real pain, all you can do is work him more. I wish I could give you a magic spell to say over him but I dont have one, miles and wet saddle blankets.

Ill have to ask my wife lol, I dont know how this all works. I think Spotify has some weird rules that she reckons I will refuse to fallow so I kinda doubt it.
