I'll never understood why they had to destroy all magic in the finale to stop mina. Like there are MULTIPLE CANON spells that destroy immortal/undestroyable beings, not to mention the total annihilation spell Queen Soloria created that can CANONLY destroy entire dimensions, one queen CANONLY destroyed an entire dimension just using her butterfly form. The one queen who really liked riddles, created an entire spell that would trap an enemy in a maze forever. Like there were so many options. I feel like cleaved should have ended with any of those spells and had the ending be that star and Marco cleaved mewni and earth through bring things together not tearing them apart.
They really jumped to destroying magic out of nowhere. If that was the endgame for show they should have build that up several seasons and not second half of the finale episode.
But the thing is. All those queens and everyone in the show are prime examples of how magic controls the people instead of the people controlling the magic. Yes they couldve used whatever spell to stop the entirety of the war but that wouldnt fix the real problem. All the magic was was a temporary means to an end. No matter what getting rid of magic was the only way for the people to stop abusing it.
@@kimhubbard3747 agreed. the thought was to end all nonsense, after generations of war and continuing magic Daron probably wanted to make it like as Star was "the" queen that realized it wasn't worth it BUT FOR WHYYYY DID THE SHOW DIDN'T HAVE BUILDUP, but srsly they actually didn't plan ahead, they literally continued the show spontaneously based on fan feedback which is not a recommended method by not having a plan
What i don't get is why that dimension was all magic in existence and not just her family's magic. It seemed to be set up as her family's magic at first. And that would have been much more poetic ending. Magic creatures and spells continue to exist, but star's family's magic ends. Thus Mina is stopped, and star becomes an ordinary person surrounded by magical beings (total contrast to how it started).

I know it’s been a year but I don’t think the problem is they didn’t have enough time. They didn’t use their time very well. A lot of time was wasted in the 4th season that should have been used to establish the evil of magic more clearly. Also having a literal sailor moon parody as the final antagonist didn’t help either.

I have a theory on why the realm of magic makes you forget everything if a wand is an extension of you memories then my guess is that since the wand can only touch the top in the bottom are so much memories that your brain can't process them at the same time so your brain is overloaded with memories that aren't even yours so your brain shuts off your memories

It's probably the strongest spell. Yeah the total annihilation spell destroys everything, but since it's still bound by the magic, you could negate it by using the whispering spell.
I wish they would have explained why it is the first spell to be taught, like why are they taught to destroy magic. What if they accidentally destroy the wand by just murmurings the spell I mean the spell only has to be whispered.
Because everyone can use the wand, so moon show star how to destroy the wand! So no one can steal the wand and use magic, like the butterfly family. But something go terrible wrong.
because you should know how to stop something before you start it. and I don’t think the spells really work that way- especially because spells are something created and used with intention, not just “la dee da oops I just blew this place up on accident”

I think the reason why the magic was different for the wand and for the magic realm is because the wand was sort of an object to control the magic. Meanwhile the magic realm is literally MADE of Magic. An object to control magic and redirect it to the person’s desire is different from a whole realm of magic. Or maybe the writers forgot it who knows-

The whispering spell is so sad, I almost cried because I saw them crying and it broke my heart to see it. The music from when the unicorn came out of the wands was also so sad.
I mean, to be fair, the dark magic was already consuming the realm making half of Marcos spells not even work, so the other magical beings would've probably started to mutate or something.
I gotta admit, before I learned the words to the whispering spell, I legitimately thought that it and the spell Moon used to sever Toffee’s finger were the same spell.
Interpretation of the last whispering spell. Break the bond refers to the bonds of the solarian warriors. Tear the fabric refers to the tapestry of magic history, and reality as a whole. Cleave the stone refers to the stone in the wand itself, and stop the magic refers to the entire process and the magic dimension.

When the Horse said it was never ur wand it was referring to the fact the star was not apart of the true blood line of queen’s foreshadowing the fact of metora and eclipsa the whole butterfly scandal
Honestly that ending having Queen Solaria and butterflies mother staring at them butterfly is a low total blow TT… TT still to this day i get so emotional and teary.
Actually, Mewmans were the villans. They were lost, and used magic to kill Monsters, then they took their land, houses and freedom. Toffee wanted to give Mewni back to their owners, treated Mewmans as intruders. His intentions were good, but violent and good only for Monsters, Star tried to save everyone and was doing her best to unify both, Mewmans and Monsters
Toffee was never a good guy, he did such horrible things and the fandom ignores them, like, this dude killed thousands including Moon's mother who wanted peace (i know all the racism stuff, but that doesn't give you the right to kill everyone), abused and manipulated Ludo for two seasons (which later gave him a trauma), almost murdered Star in the magic dimension, AND ALL FOR HIS FUCKING FINGER THAT HE COULD LIVE HAPPILY WITHOUT IT. Toffee is not a good person and the fandom glorifies him.
Absolutely hated that they just got rid of all magic when there was magic that was able to fix things! also they definitely just got lazy because Marco literally got stabbed with a unicorn horn and then it just went away. Never talked about it again and there’s no sign of a sequel or anything so 🤷

I just rewatched season 1. I don’t know if I want to go back to this. It’s heartbreaking. I think I’ll stop until I’m ready to rewatch season 2, 3, and 4.
I don’t understand why they had to destroy the magic and why it was different in the 4th season. Maybe in the 1st and 3rd seasons it was used to destroy just the wand, but destroying actual, physical magic they used the one in the 4th season?
Ok this comment is about Marco's cheek mark. When Heinous's (Meteora) cheek marks showed up and Star saw them Star said "It means she's a Butterfly." Now then since Marco's cheek marks showed up does that mean Marco's a Butterfly? Or is it just because of the high concentration of magic flowing through Marco. Because that's how cheek marks work because of high concentration of magic. What I'm saying is about lobster claws he did not get cheek marks even though materials and different matter flew from he's presence whilst without even doing any sort of magic. (Fun Fact, The Wand Rejected lobster claws so he had no control until Marco kicked the wand away.) So tell me about Marco's cheek mark they showed up even though Marco did not do a single Magic spell. So tell me about what you know?
When they reset the bloodline by making a peasant ascend to the thrown, she got cheek marks from the wand. So I think its probably just the concentration of magic from the wand, not that he's a butterfly

Star was so selfish during the finale, she destroyed the entire MAGIC, that just pissed me of sm. She could've used that spell that solaria made to destroy dimensions

Destroying all magic is the dumbest thing i've ever heard Cool, now you can never see most of your friends ever again, Tom probably can't go home and you killed every single made-of-magic creature that's ever existed (including the Laser Puppies) And yet, your whole problem is not even solved, Mina and Manfred went by unscathed and without any punishment, (most) Mewmans still hate monsters and humans (who hate people between themselves) are probably still hate monstersg The whole 2nd half of s4 was rushed (esp Starco, ugh) but this, this is just bad writing
Yeah the magic was just a valuable resource. It never *made* anyone make those bad choices, it was just an incentive. The oppression against the monsters was a choice. Magic didn't really possess any of the people who made the worst decisions
@@merchantfan This was all just one elaborate suicide for Glosseryc. They probably realized they didn't have anything to really go on and just torched the series. That is why the whole Globgor and Meteroa thing happened the way it did.
@@sashmiel6566 Yeah. The Meteora thing wasn't bad, just rushed but there were so many problems once you thought about the finale that it really didn't seem happy. And blaming magic was weird, it was just a resource. The decisions made by Mewni seemed very human
It would be nice to just interact with the characters I don't like Mia and me but it would be like that instead I can leave and stay whenever I want and just interreacting with so many characters instead of watching them and me being in the shows that would be a dream come true

Destroying the realm of magic shouldn't have cleaved the realms tho.. it should've blasted all realms into oblivion.. but they call it magic, not science, for a reason..
