I just had the 2nd shot yesterday. (RVO - macular edema) I also experienced "horrendous" pain after a few hrs and throughout the night so much so that at this point there's no way I'll have another injection.

hi, been getting injections for 20 plus years, for wet macular, getting horrendous pain for3to 5 hours after injections, is there any answer to this problem, dr tried everything to no avail?

I'm very sorry to hear you've been getting horrendous pain from your injections, this should not be happening. Although a true allergic reaction to iodine is rare this could be the issue for you. Some people find that iodine is what has caused irritation/ pain to their eye or skin. Please mention this to your specialist or nurse and they may use a different local anaesthetic, hopefully this will make a difference for you. If you have any severe pain after an injection, you are advised to call the clinic or return to Eye Casualty immediately. Treatment is required to reduce the pain and allow any scratches to heal properly. Please know we are also here to give advice where possible. We are contactable on the phone via 0300 3030 111.

Usually the injections work quite soon after receiving treatment however this last one ( 4 days ) ago and my vision is still not clear. Is this normal ?

@@MacularSociety Yeah, They're saying, it's the Betadine. Some staff members are better at rinsing than others. (numbing drop wear-off)
