Pro tip from my first metal roof cleaning. Don't do metal roofs if they are sloped at all. They are wayyyy to slippery, especially when you get SH on them.
My first softwash was metal. Dropped my xero pole and almost fell off because I didn't have proper safety gear. Proper shoes and harness are a must, guys!
Never an asphalt shingle roof I’ve seen videos in England them using surface cleaners on poles and ropes on tile roofs and it still looks crazy to me using pressure on any roof system lol
I use backpack pump sprayer on cloudy day and let rain over few months wash roof clean ... I use pool SH and make it strong ..doing it this way roof is cleaned over time and it does not kill plants as you are not washing it off full strength ....
How long do you let the stuff sit once applied? Can you do the process a couple times if the results arent great the first time? I mixed up some today and sprayed it. There are very heavy algae dark stains and it did help. But not drastic like i was hoping for. I scrubbed the moss off first with a scrub brush and thinned it out in a home depot hyx 1/2 gallon hand pump sprayer about 1/4 SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE to 3/4 water. Applied it twice. Its better but not perfect.
*LIKED & SUBSCRIBED* I found all you covered was extremely detailed, professional and exposed many of the areas not thought about! *SERIOUS - Thank You* !!!
I do regular bleach from the common store, 50/50 mix.. First dampen the roof so there isn't any spray staining, spray on the solution and give it a soft brush with the softest push broom you can find...then rinse... Always has worked great and have never had to deal with a follow up issue.
It's damn near impossible to clean a roof with solely bleach in California. Cement tile roofs + heavy algae growth. 10% on a roof did close to nothing.
@@jayweathers2701 I'm convinced the only way to clean roofs out here is with pressure. Bleach won't cut it. It's night and day compared to videos on RU-vid.
@@llpp202 the 10% i use is a pretty strong colored yellow. Even when i batch mix at 1.5-2% you can tell its yellow. But if you know your bleach is really that potent and it still wont do the job then yes pressure is the only other way to go. Just make sure you dont use much AT ALL. Use a 45 degree (white tip) and turn the unloader on your washer down. You can crack concrete and tile a lot easier than you would think. Just make sure you NEVER use pressure on asphalt shingle roofs
Hi there. I am in South Africa and doing some renovations on roofs and houses. With the current high density housing, cleaning roofs ask for something where the neighbours won't complain about the overspray. I am looking at using SH. I can get a 12 - 15% solution from a manufacturer. What ratio would be best to dilute it for the cleaning process? I would appreciate your feedback. Regards Hein
Great solution on everything. I don't see you answering all questions. Hope you answer this one. MONEY!!!!! You said you have made TONS OF MONEY washing roofs. Then talk about what kind of profit can be made on a roof job. Also same question for House Washing and Driveways .. You want to be real on your videos, then talk about an issue no one talks about. MONEY PROFIT!!! Thanks. JULES JULES...
So I see a lot of shingle roofs being washed. I just purchased a skid getting ready to start is there any particular roof that you can’t soft wash with sh??
I have a question about quote iq. Do you have to pay for premium to use the online payments? Also are there any fees with the online payments thru quote iq? Thanks!
I have a question you might be able to answer for me, I've watched a great number of your videos and they're full of great information and I respect that about you. When you started your company, how did you go about it? In the sense of, did you pay for all your equipment and truck out of your own personal pocket to get a start? Should I try to use the banks money in the credit of my own LLC to start out my business, this way if things don't go as planned I'm not out of money that feeds me and pay my bills or destroy my person credit and life. Should I use the banks money even if it's to buy one piece of equipment, truck, heated washer, trailer, etc?
Hi Mike, Quick question not related to this video. Have you ever had an accident with jet wash on your skin? I had an accident today with my pencil jet and hit my stomach close range. (Hand gun Lance) STUPID mistake but ouch it hurt!!! I ont happen again!!!🤣
Isn’t it funny how people only use the word technically when they’re being a dick? Anyway, technically the SH my dealer sells arrives at 14.5% and gasses off 2% of its potency during the transfer from the truck to their storage tank.
I quoted a 3500sqft tile roof wash for $800. Customer accepted and I’m doing the job on Tuesday. This is my 2nd ever job. Was that price too low? Thank you
@@hisnameisiam808 Mike uploaded a video a while back and then again in the last month or so. I can't remember the tech's name right now but it's the top or most mentioned one. Mike used to have it as spray the roof and leave but they would get call backs to go again because of the brown spots on the roof that remained. One of the days Mike dropped something off for the technician and noticed he was rinsing the roof and make asked what he was doing since it wasn't standard practice at the time. He rinsed the roof because it prevented the call backs and Mike looked back at that technicians jobs and there weren't any call backs for that technicians for roofs. Now another note Mike mentioned recently and another RU-vidr has also mentioned rinsing the bottom 1/3 of the roof if rain is in the forecast in the coming hours or days to prevent so much of the residual salt from the dried SH coming into contact with the plant, trees and grass.
@@johnnyweld9672 As Mike said, if liquid can make it past the tile and hit the tar paper, the roof itself is ineffective. it is not an SH problem. It is a roof problem.
I need to figure out how fast bleach breaks down and weather using soap on a roof will break down the oil-based parts. Guessing on two big issues like those is fine but I really don't feel comfortable at this point. I'm going to search for a test of some kind for the bleach and some research data on the other. When buying new bleach from whatever supplier, especially at slow periods of the year from pool suppliers, I'm always trying to figure out how long that bleach may have been sitting on their shelves or in their main tank. It can break down quickly from what I've heard but I really need to nail down those numbers, and you should too. It matters when it comes to plants, kids, pets and, of course, surfaces. And, even if it breaks down into salt, the salt sitting on the surface can't be good.
This mix has made so much roofs look good for so long now that I now how to do a good roof cleaning with the gurein atalanta geroap adns savae time and m;oney ababy
It’s a task requiring work … if you use ANY mechanical means or even tools you will damage asphalt roofing . Soft rinse with diluted bleach or a longer term mild solution such as “ wet it and forget it “ will give you a better end result . Flossing your teeth and cleaning a roof are similar in that they are tasks best addressed on a regular basis. Tree or Vegetation overgrowth or extreme shading adds to the potential for more problems
I’m loving this soft wash segment but the only thing I’ve seen wrong was the worker didn’t have his ladder extended out 3’ above the roof and not tied off because these ladders will slide.Almost 34 years of Commercial Roofing experience here and that’s what OSHA looks for even though they probably wouldn’t be on your job but safety 1st.
Hey Mike a couple things. I live in the Pacific Northwest and the moss that grows on the roofs where I live is pretty substantial. Should when cleaning roofs should I get the majority of the moss off with a blower or some other method or will an application of the SH take care of it all?
I found your calculator great, and I also found AI. Just ask the question, and it teaches you the math and gives a summary with the answer you're looking for. It's awesome.
@@AllAboutPressureWashing I'm just letting people know that your calculators are great, and AI is also a great tool for people who have not used AI before. You know, education. Knowledge is free.
Better have your worker where a harness and rope off man wtf u thinking . If he gets hurt your liable and probably won’t get workman’s comp. OSHA not approved
You can absolutely clean a roof with a pressure washer. You just have to stay around 2000 psi and have a good stoke and keep the gun nozzle away from the roof so you dont scorch the roof. I've done hundreds of roofs from cedar shake to tile to comp. If you do it right there will be absolutely no grainulars that come off the comp roof. I guess you have to be confident in what your doing. And know what your doing. But it's a very effective and efficient way to really clean a roof.
Wondered if there are EPA Compliant Washing solutions that wouldn't violate any environmental codes? Just haven't found any concrete answers Boss.. thanks
Bleach works good, just watch your rubber boots around your vent pipes cause over time the bleach will eat those up but they are cheap and easy to replace. Good video!!
