Omg I got cooking oil on my Alden 405’s. I also bought the Hussard and it worked. It wasn’t perfect, but you can ignore the spot now. Overall it looks better.
Great review. I have lost count of the number of videos I have watched on men's boots (20 plus). Your video is the first an only that had boots that were worn actually brushed and polished. Thank you!
Another thorough video. Well done. Higgins Trunk would be fantastic. (As you know) I have the green shell Higgins from the last TS--they are on double JR, and while not a widely-popular idea: I would absolutely consider CXL on JR...
Those boots look like a pair of Grant Stone Diesel’s. To me, GS is better than the AE HM and any Alden boots. I have a pair of GS Ottawa’s in crimson cxl and I used the Saphir renovator to condition the boot and they give it a nice sheen. I only used a tiny tiny amount and I brush it every day at the end of the day and the patina is great. It’s more brown now.
Excellent review as usual! You mentioned that the Higgins Mills has poron. AE doesn't mention that on their website. How can I tell if the one I own has it?
0:57 - That Alden natural chromexcel 9501 is one of my grail shoes. I’ve had it bookmarked to buy for over 2 years. But as it appears, it’s never really a perfect time to buy a $700 shoe that never goes on sale. And even had I bought it, I would probably still not have worn them. Just stare at them every once in a while and keep them in the box.
I guess the sneaker market is something that AE cannot afford to ignore. Especially with all this recent obsession with “minimal sneakers.” I bought a pair of navy Porter Derby sneakers in the woven leather when they had one of their super clearance sales, and I can vouch for their surprising comfort. That Flyform insert they use is no joke. They are more comfortable than some Nike and Adidas sneakers I own. Still, they are expensive, and that’s probably why there aren’t too many AE Sneaker reviews on RU-vid, if any.
