His style of play caused him to have a shorter career and since he didn’t want to come of the bench or be a role player his attitude made it difficult for teams to want him. Once he started to lose a step it made him human. AI’s game was based on his speed and grit. His mind was telling his body to do something that it couldn’t do anymore. The teams knew it but AI didn’t.
@@secondbest2877 bruh shut up he was blackballed ai never fell of the previous season he had an career year effienfy wise and out of nowhere they tried to write him off with these fake narratives you don’t know what you’re talking about lol
@@nba2kalltime113 lol, as soon as he left Philly his production declined while getting the same minutes. Denver he dropped nearly 10pts PG! After ‘07 he was done…..I’m an AI fan but i’m also not delusional.
Pistons had been to the ECF 6x straight but also finals back to back, and won 1. That’s not mentioned. They were a championship culture and AI wasn’t about that. That moved destroyed that culture. And I grew up a AI fan. Love him for what he was accepted what he wasn’t
Thats bias man other great players you think was the best had teams built for them like kobe , jordan, paul pierce, lebron, magic and so on ....I see they got you too the media will blind fold you and tell you what your seeing if you sleeep
ive been an AI fan all my life but i like to think he wouldve been even better if he was taller and bigger like maybe kobe's or even d-wade's stature and mightve even won a championship in 2001 just cuz nba is the land of the giants and on a side note hes always been put on bad teams
This is one of the trades that set the pistons back for years joe dumars messed everything up a.i didn't fit in our system we should have never traded billups
Tee Woodz agreed. He made it even worse with his free agent decisions afterward. If he would’ve been solid there, he could have got the train back rolling.
Man pistons team was done ben wallace went to bulls and ai really didnt fit pistons not with rip starting along him....to win in basketball you have to have a good designed team for you period.
People who "hate" on AI are super ENVIOUS/JEALOUS insecure children !!! They don't care about the trials, hard work and tribulations that got him to achieve GREATNESS !!! They could NEVER EVER do what AI did in their wildest imagination !!! ALSO...he played another sport, football...EXCELLENTLY !!! That probably contributed to his emense toughness in the NBA. AI is lightning in a bottle. He's one in a million. They selling wolf tickets. Living through others, to tear them down! That speaks VOLUMES about their character. Poor things !
The hate is real ... Betta think again the narrative s never wanted him to win he represent hiphop and young black man lol but its a reason mamba yall favorites narrative put so mu h respect on this man he was the most underrated player to ever play best aside jordan! He put 60 up on Kobe while on denver with a dub! And kobe wouldnt have beat him without shaq and up until the pistons he had the highest playoff pts avg per game ever 36.6 and he put up multiple 50pts+ games i dont think Kobe has ever done that and playoffs kobe was washed always!
Zakkary Andersen just because his name isn’t Steph Curry make him overrated. Go back and look at his stats before you say something fuckin dumb like that.
Lifelong Pistons fan. Cried when we won the ring in 04. Cried even harder when we lost in heartbreaking fashion in 05. I grew up watching the Bad Boys championship runs on VHS recorded tapes (thanks pops). I can honestly say, F***k the Pistons and Joe Dumars for their treatment of AI. That 2005 series was the highest level of individual brilliance I’ve ever witnessed from a player against our stifling world champion defense. And playing through that ankle sprain changed my perception of what perseverance means. You deserved better AI And ff*** Rodney Stuckey for not changing his jersey number
Looking back at the stats and review of the season I really don't think he was as bad of a piston as we remember. Expectations were thru the roof back then
Joe Dumars ruined the team with this!! I don't hate Iverson, but he is not a piston at heart!! Pistons don't play the STAR game! They play TEAM basketball and Iverson don't play that way.... Not to mention he came here to win a championship and sat out the whole playoffs for being a baby!! I hated Joe Dumars for getting rid of Chauncey!!
@@najialr That's what they reported,, but that's not exactly what happened! Also why did they cut him out of the playoff roster as you say?? I want to know what your going to say or what your take on it is.
I don’t know about washed it was about fit billups leadership was better for the locker room and helped guide Melos skill same thing Jason Kidd did for him in NY
@@t-god2439 if you want to call that "playing", sure. But he was done after this season and actually before this season was over cuz he was suspended before the playoffs for insubordination and conduct detrimental to the team.
I so remember this trade. I was sad and happy at the same time being a Nuggets fan. Getting AI was probably one of the most exciting moments as a Nuggets fan just because before Melo the team was not good and Denver was almost the Siberia of the NBA. Then we got AI - it just didn’t work - the Lakers and Spurs were very dominant back then and the Jazz were always a thorn in our side. But then I was happy because we got our hometown boy back in Chauncey and he lead us to the Western Conference Finals and nearly the World Championship. Great time back then!
It didn't work out cuz they had no leadership from their best players, .Melo and AI. Ok, they lost to the Spurs and Lakers in the playoffs and I'll give them a pass for losing to the Spurs in '07 cuz AI was traded during that season and that Spurs team won a ring. But watching them play in '08 during the season and against the Lakers in the playoffs was a shining example of why they weren't going to win with them. They played with no discipline or real team philosophy. It was Melo and AI taking turns going solo and taking low percentage shots. If AI had fallen back a bit and taken more of a lead guard role while letting guys like Kenyon, Nene, JR Smith etc be involved more, they would've been a more complete team and gotten a higher western seed. Even in the playoffs, they were taking terrible shots and played right into the Lakers hands. AI was already over a decade in the league and should've been a better leader by then IMO.
@@Israel-nb7ip Oh yes - I totally remembered them getting swept by the Lakers and Melo acted unprofessional with George Karl - I think he was just really upset they were getting drilled by the Lakers. Then Melo was rumored to getting traded that summer, I think to the Nets. They never traded him at that time though. The trade for Chauncey injected new hope for the Nuggets.
Well I hated that the Pistons were getting Allen Iverson and traded Chauncey Billups!! Joe Dumars wrecked that championship team by trying to do too much.!! Allen Iverson is not a leader,,he's actually a Diva and a baby.... He's good at basketball but so what!! He actually sat out for the Pistons the whole playoffs just because he was mad..... Then they tried to cover it up with a fake injury,, but everyone knew that he was just being the Allen Iverson that everyone knew he was!! That's why he never won a championship...... Joe Dumars got pulled from making decisions after all of that and the Pistons were never the same!! I never got why you would make it all the way to the playoffs and your dream was to win a championship,, and then you get mad at the rotation and sit out as your team struggles to win ONE playoff game!!
I hated Joe Dumars for getting rid of Chauncey Billups!! I can't believe they didn't get rid of Dumars just to keep Chauncey!! Dumars ruined the best pistons team ever!! I guess at least we won a championship!!
Blame on George Karl.... that team didn't play defense and they play iso game. You can win regular season games with this type of play, but on playoffs you need defense and play with and offensive idea....
