Comparing efficiency’s in the early 2000s and right now is so unfair. Defenses were different back then, and games would end in the 70s and 80s. Now teams score 80 by the middle of the 3rd quarter because of how the rules have changed.
@ScoutsHonor.

2000s defense is statistically the toughest era defensively. Yes, there was also hero ball, but the way the defense was played; you needed a star scorer to break the ice and create their own shot. Because not every team was constructed and coached like the Spurs, Pistons or Suns. That’s why Kobe T Mac Pierce and A.I. was given the green light to say f**k it.

Folks forget Iverson faced double and triple teams nightly. He accomplished what he did while every team in the NBA knew he was the sole focal point to the Sixers squad. When he went into the paint he wasn't facing 6'9" centers and hybrid PFs. He was facing true PFs and Centers, and he went to the paint with reckless abandon. Iverson in many eyes was seen as one of the best players if not top 2 for a great part of his career. And his era had all time legends in their primes. I can name at least 15 HOF players in their prime while Iverson was playing. This era would be hard pressed to find 10 HOF players who won't get in on trumped up stats. And a few of them played when Iverson was playing, like Lebron, Melo, Chris Paul, and Dwight Howard.

Even a dominating big that dominates the paint like a Shaq would struggle probably to shoot 50%, he might shoot 48% or 49% with him finishing through so much traffic in the paint. Different game played a very different way which is why it doens`t make sense to try to compare players across era`s in terms of stats. You are talking about an era in which two big`s actually played in the paint, 3 to 4 guys played inside the 3 point line the entire possession, you could chip and hard hedge cutters and they didn`t put offensive players on the line because someone looked at them incorrectly while they were dribbling. You are talking about an era where there were to be a great scorer you were going to have to make a lot of contested two point jump shots. In today`s game because of rules and style of play guys are able to put up 25 a season without having to develop into 3 level scorers. 3`s layups and free throws.

Ja Morant would've been a TJ Ford level player in that era. Folks forget that the era and level of competition matters. It's much easier to score on CJ McCollum than it is to score on Kobe Bryant. That has to be factored in. Iverson was in murderer's row of competition and talent. Ja isn't. Teams go out of their way to tank now. That's why a guy like Chris Paul in year 16 is still one of the best in the game, because this era is child's play to him. In his prime he had to be all time to score 35 points. Now he can do that in the playoffs with a fractured hand. Paul George is one of the top guys in this era, in the previous era he came off the bench. So did Kyle Lowry.
