It’s the pace in the face of congested shots while defense is being played. The nba has an incredible pace today but ain’t much of any, defense being played at all. Not nearly as impressive to have pace with constant wide open shots

@@CoreyT127 And Kobe Bryant (Legend), Sharif Abdur Rahim (multiple All Star), Antoine Walker (multiple All Star), Peja Stojakvich (All Star), and Kerry Kittles (solid NBA pro, and amazing Big East guard who went toe to toe with Allen Iverson and Ray Allen). The 1996 draft was amazing. Back then the draft was a huge event because there were college all star players who you knew for years, and who could instantly help a struggling team. Nowadays the draft is a crapshoot of players you've never heard of that you look back at 10 years later to determine if it was good.

Last time you’ll ever see multiple nba players from Georgia Tech and Georgetown.. I counted 6 (3 from each team) Marbury, Harpring and Barry for GT and Iverson, Harrington and JYD from Geoegetown

Ehh, it could happen. If the teams had played in 2010, GT would have had Favors, Shumpert, and Glen Rice Jr. and Georgetown would've had Greg Monroe and Hollis Thompson. If they had played in 2005, Georgetown would've had Jeff Green and Roy Hibbert, and GT would have had Jarrett Jack, Will Bynum, and Anthony Morrow.

My first favorite college player was actually Johnny Dawkins from Duke playing against Jordan in college, that's when I was a shorty watching him. Chris Jackson was my dude when I was a high school point/shooting guard while he was at LSU.

@@bos3835 yes I really got into college basketball Dawkins' senior year at Duke. I cried when they lost to Louisville, but after that being born and raised in Vegas I despised them and was happy when UNLV rolled them in 90 but heartbroken again in 91 when they beat my squad.

Yup. Those of us who grew up in the 90's were lucky. I remember the NBA draft was a prime time event like the NFL draft. The college players were all well-known because they usually played at least 3 years, so every team got a first round pick who was ready to play on day one. There was so much buzz and excitement around the draft in those days. The drafts from 93-99 were all full of solid collections of all star players. Great memories.

I remember watching this game on TV live. Being from BK I wanted Steph to get busy against A.I. but Georgetown was to overwhelming as a squad. Victor Page was a problem too! Being a Freshman Steph still held it down tho.

@@joestuehmer7967 Ridiculous stupid comment. Different era different time. The NBA was in its infancy at that time. Wilt Chamberlain was bigger and stronger and better than anyone at that time. He couldn’t have average 50 points a game in todays NBA. Now there are 7 footers everywhere. Not just him. The defenses are more sophisticated. The players have more talent across the board. There are 30 teams. The NBA has doubled in size and talent. Watching a game from the early 1960s looks crude and primitive compared to watching an NBA game now. The competition is to hard for anyone to average 50 points over 82 games with todays competition.

This was a golden era the atmosphere Iverson vs Marbury, Dick Vitale with the commentary. I felt sad when he mention Lorezen Wright, how Ray Allen said he was the best big man he's ever played with. I remember Ray Allen and AI going at it in the Big East.

College was DIFFERENT then. Look at all the NBA players on two teams that weren’t even considered elite. Obviously Marbury and AI but Jerome Williams, Matt Harpring, Jahidi White and Othella Harrington all had excellent careers. And Drew Barry and Victor Page were STUDS at this level. In todays era, this could easily be a Final Four game.

The 96 draft class was so stacked. Imagine those killers playing against each other in college...& then Duncan came out in 97. Nowadays it's 1 & doneski. All u can do is imagine what if Zion & RJ stayed at Duke? Herro & Maxey at Kentucky?

Look how many points was scored in the paint you had to have a tough game as a guard then now college and pros no contact all jumpers shit is sweet compared to how intense they played then straight physical uptempo to the rack every time down
