Today was a sad day for Music. Allen Toussaint was laid to rest. In this video, a traditional New Orleans Brass Band lays down the sadness associated with loosing a loved one, with a slow, solemn march. Not long after,... The band jumps into joyous, happy, buck jumping music to signify that we were sure happy to know and love Allen, his music, and the support he gave to numerous musicians who graced the stage with him. Know that Allen and his family will remain in our prayers............ Bless!

I first saw Mr. Toussaint's name when I was a 16 year-old in 1972. I bought the album Rock of Ages by The Band, and he was prominently credited for arranging the amazing horn parts. Still well worth listening to. From there I worked my way back to his great work with Minit Records and all the rest. He was a major player in the history of modern American music. While he was far from unknown, he never got his full due. RIP.

You said it. Still sad that I'm not there anymore. I lived there 18 years, and I'm a 6th generation New Orleanian. I just happened to look up Allen Toussaint the other day, I didn't know he'd passed. I heard him on a radio show in 2014. This is all so sad, he was the epitome of class and a beautiful soul.

I’ve never seen a funeral procession like this before. It mourns his death but also celebrates his life with both sad and happy music. I wish these were more common bc people deserve to know it’s appropriate to mourn but you should celebrate the lives of those who died as well

I'm 26 y/o. I got hopefully another 60 70 years but when I do go. I would add to my will for my family give me a nawlins type of funeral. I been in band when I was in middle and high school. So I want a happy jazz funeral. I have a phobia of funerals but a jazz one seems to be more happy and not depressed.
