Hey Nash - one other thing - sorta an fyi for these builds. Doing a pretty-much total overhaul on this free (yeah, right) D14. At the stage of clutch repair, i had old gear lube on the throw out bearing and foot pedal linkage. The plate behind the throw out bearing houses two back-to-back seals. In my case, i guarantee you they were original. A complete mo to get them out, but that will keep lube out of my clutch assembly. A word of caution - even with all liquids drained, when you pull off that cover, about a quart of fluid lies behind it waiting to polish up your clean up skills. Ask me how i know this,,,,,,

I do not know whether you’ll answer this or not I just installed a brand new clutch pilot bearing and pressure plate and to my D 15 which is actually an eye 600 Backo Allis chalmers when I press the clutch pedal down makes a loud grinding cylon what do you think is wrong? It’s all brand new wondering if I put the plate in backwards but it wouldn’t go but one way. If you would answer I would greatly appreciate it thank you very much, Doug

You cleaned the flywheel up but why didn't you clean the mating surface on the crank and the threads? To each his own but I always put a drop of locktite on my flywheel bolts and usually get the flywheel and clutch disc ground. Doesn't cost that much and you start fresh so to speak.

Any idea what the spacing should be from the finger to the center hub?

Nash - great vids - thanks for making. Picked up a "free" d14 that is a complete rebuild so like your tutorials. Just finished a complete power steering overhaul. Amazed at the amount of steel in these machines. Question: now spliting the d14 to replace the clutch and rear seal. i see no natural place to hook my hoist to support the engine. Looks like you are completely supported by wrapping a chain around the intake/exhaust manifold . That holds the weight ok ? i could make a couple of tabs to bolt to the block, but figured i would get your opinion.

Nash, On page 10 of the D17 shop manual under engine clutch pressure plate to flywheel 3/8" bolts 25-30 foot lbs. That is page 10 of supplement No. 33 of the shop manual. And on page 32 of supplement No. 33 of the shop manual in the last paragraph it also states 25 to 30foot lbs. Tom
