Yeah, but if someone gave me three notes, i would work with what I was given. Light is careless no doubt but I always felt this scene was off. Maybe I'm not smart enough.
@@mehnotreallymyname3888There were print numbers on the back of each one reading 1, 2, and 4. Light had rearrange them to form the message, while a regular person would see the numbers and ask for a fourth. It shows that he must have already been aware of the message, to be able to see it so easily
I mean yeah but even if light weren't Kira, with the information he's given here, that's probably the conclusion a lot of people would come up with (assuming they saw the hidden message to begin with). This is one of the very few moments in the series where I don't see L's logic here. You can't really deduce that a person is Kira by withholding a fake note. I mean I guess I can see it since L pretty much knew light was Kira at this point, but regardless it doesn't make much sense
The original Japanese line is "L did you know shinagami who eat nothing but apples" the sentence sounds like it isn't finished and any normal person would say this but Light doesn't because he knows there are only 3 notes. Also when presented with the 4th note light is more concerned about being right and seen as smart vs ask why did L withhold the 4th note. This shows light has a complex about winning and being right which fits kiras profile.
The grammar is pretty different then, huh? Switch the sentence structure around in English, and it sounds wrong, but in japanese it could either be unfinished or finished if you flip the order. I need to watch this scene in the sub sometime 😅
Truth is L in the series Already caught Light in multiple lies and already confirmed Light is Kira but him knowing and getting a solid evidence that will expose him was a far different matter. Anyone who understood the series completely knows Light wasn't even close to L's intellect.
Light literally needed 2 Shinigamis and 2 Death Notes and another Death Note user to defeat L. All L had were incompetent officers who barely trusted him and a butler
@@masudbillah6196to be fair misa was a huge liability many times she was the reason that light nearly got screwed over also light did get a better hand than L but doesnt change the fact that light played his cards brilliantly most of the time
@@theguywholikesrandom2011ah i believe light had luck on his side or L wouldve fucked him earlier so many times Like at the time when he was writing raye pember's fiance's name in that notebook one of the officers associated with L was passing by and it started snowfall so he couldnt look light and her or otherwise he could inform L that light was with her just before she went missing and light would be dead by then
His ego was too big and became his downfall. To the point Light got on his hands and knees twerking on L’s grave to get his attention. Amazing. Truly brilliant.
I just realized why L said gods of death who love apples have red hands, because the fake out message he made caught light red handed. Edit: regardless of how credible L's test really was irl, the show makes a point to say L made Light slip up, I was just pointing out the thematic cues.
how would he have caught Light red-handed, Light was given three to work from, and was told that is all there was to work from, so he worked from those three and found a more reasonable message.
I think it's funny he could have avoided getting caught if he just lived a normal life and continued after graduation when he could relocate without raising suspicion.
ur wrong here. ok imagine this. you somehow find a device that makes any girl/guy fall in love with you instantly; would you really bot want to at least test it out to see if it really works? light is a human at the end of the day and morbid curiosiry got the best of him, just like it would with you or me.
@@newt2120 dude light is weak willed and had a superiority complex before the deathnote, yes i would try out your love machine thing u mentioned, humans are flawed, but how much times would i use it, how guilty would i feel and would i tell anybody, Light puked after killing a dude in front of the shop and then do even flinch from the shiniagmi and also already planned to rule the world, dude was insane, nobody that's normal would do that only school shootwrs or political leaders, not everybody rashes out against the world, this dude light couldn't even find a hobby and used a death book for entertainment, no one critics light for trying it out we critic him for continuing to use it akd to the extent he did and how he never owns up to his flaws or feels guilt amd instead tries to justify it with some deluded moral debate, if said person used your love machine to school peers etc..and didn't stop, or didn't feel guilt they would probably be a socio or pyschopath because that's not normal, and god isn't even in question if people didn't want to go to hell they wouldn't use the deathnote, Light doesn't care about his afterlife hes insane
@@newt2120 I'm saying if he stopped using it the moment he realized he could actually get caught. At first there was no reason not to use it but there was a gap on when they started closing in on him were if he was just patient and played the waiting game he could have gotten away with it and resumed later when things had calmed down. Given a few years he would be Scott free and be able to resume. Also if someone gave me a book to make people fall in love with me I wouldn't use it, I could never be with someone knowing I had to change them to love me. However if the book let me make others fall in love hell yeah I would use it, I could ship Trump and President Putin and absolutely nobody could stop me. Also it would be pretty hard for logical people to realize all the insane relationships are being orchestrated by one person. Saying it out loud that seems like a fun premiss for a show, death note but instead of killing people you ship them.
And i would add that he could point out that the fourth one must be someone else's, because it's in a different handwriting and was written with a marker.
@@i.u.se.pha.8446 He didn't write the notes himself. He used the deathnote to control criminals to write it before dying so that argument wouldn't have made much sense
Despite the card numbers behind the cards, Light gave the less predictible answer. Normal person would go with the numbers and find different results but Light didn't. It's enough to know Light knows the right answer

@@EliteStreakso what? He was smart enough to fool a God of death, that alone proves he's smarter than L. L lost to him and so would Near if Mikami didbt ruin light's plan.
for the record, it's just a bad translation, because in english the sentence was complete. I think it's supposed something like "gods of death that love apples.... and then what L says makes more sense.
@@GoId3nWrId Excuses. Someone as smart as him should not have allowed a scenario where his subordinate could ignore his instruction. He literally has a book that can control people's actions before they die.

L is just trolling Light to test his personality traits. The fact that Light tried to double-down instead of admitting he was wrong... that was his mistake.
L wasnt trolling here he gave Light 3 pieces of info to prepare a coherent message which was impossible as the the info L provided was incomplete based of the top lines you cannot make a proper.message by just those 3 pages also L gave him the pages 1,2 and 4 Light never considered the possibility9f there being a 3rd(or 4th)message as if tho he knew already what the message was which confirmed L he was Kira and Light confirmed than suspicion even further by insisting he was right until L shown the 4the message.
@@Goatkuna236 Please tell me you're joking. LIGHT WROTE THE DAMN NOTES HE DOUBLED DOWN BECAUSE HE WAS RIGHT, THAT WAS THE MESSAGE HE SENT L. L gave Light the original 3 to test his intellect, he then threw the 4th one into the equation to gauge his reaction, if he was overly shocked he's Kira basically
And for Mr. Marco, anyone who could figure out the message with the 3 pictures would double down on their solution. And Light said "But seeing as I only had 3 photographs to work with my deduction was perfect." Which is honestly a normal response from anyone with pride.
@@smileforthecamera4038 Ur assessment is completely wrong did you not hear L during that encounter?L said that the message formed from the notes Light sent was “L do you know, God of death who loves apples" which is an incomplete message any smart person should think,"this message is incomplete what does kira meant by who" and think there is one more letter unless the person is super dumb or Kira himself he wouldn't say there are only 3 notes as the message formed was incomplete
@@Goatkuna236 are you seriously going to try to argue the message light meant to send with the message L constructed, Light literally says outloud the message he sent then mentally said the 4th image was a fake. Light did this as a test for what he could do with the death note, he was testing it's capabilities and Light knew that Ryuk loved apples so he made a little joke. With any language the second you add more letters or even words it'll read differently, especially with Japanese kanji
He was insulting Light's intelligence to get him to reveal that he's a narcissist. Light falls for it when he says "my deduction was perfect". Even when there's no reason to, Light has to prove he's smarter than L. By proving Light to be a narcissist, it increases Light's chance of being Kira because, by Light's own admission, Kira is trying to taunt L.
That's not what he was trying to do at all. Light fell for L's trap. The three cards were numbered, and Light automatically ordered them by what he made the criminals write. Even though if you were to put the notes in sequential order, from 1 to 3 the sentence wouldn't make sense. A normal person in that situation would assume that there is a fourth note, but Light didn't because he already knows what he made the criminals write.
@Jacobhart34521 Yes, that is correct, but it is the fact that Light believes he is superior. This is continously shown as Light states he was chosen which makes him somehow superior. RYUK TELLS HIM THE REASON WHY THE DEATH NOTE IS PRESENT AND WHAT HAPPENS TO THE USER. LIGHT CONTINUES .This is also indicated by "is he stupid statement" this wasn't just to catch Light in a lie. It was to expose his weakness. This is how L knew this. Go back to the episode where L questions the logic of this and explains that the owner can't be a God, but a human because a God does not succumb to these antics. He states that the user is that of a child in reasoning. This is also shown when Near defeats Light. He states that "he has confused himself." Mello also realized this. That was his weakness as well which was hindering the investigation. That hurt Light even more than being caught itself!
@Thecommander248 Another sign people seem to miss is Misa Armani. L did this with the task force. When he investigated them to X out if they are Kira. They simply did not have the traits or the thought process to be Kira." Naive" is the watered-down word. Misa was extremely Naive and thus it prompted a red flag. Why? Because she could be easily manipulated and thus was attached to Light. Hence why Near indicates that Kira must be " one in the same". Because the task force is NAIVE.
Alright, I've seen a lot of comments completely, meat riding L and not being fair at all to Light, saying things like L is far smarter than Light, and it isn't even remotely close, etc etc etc and so I found somebody on Quora who is actually being more fair to Light it is written by Valor Stein: People who watch the series tend to overestimate the idea that L is smarter than Light solely based on the premise that Light had an advantage with his Shinigami powers. That, however, does not factor into the equation, or the ultimate outcome. Just as Light had Shinigami powers, he had restrictions on him- He needed the a name and the face of the individual in order to kill somebody. Furthermore, since he wanted to live longer, he played the game of Shinigami in difficult mode, without being able to access one’s names and faces directly. L, on the other hand, had power over all the police in Japan,FBI, and such. In terms of research, investigation, espionage (cameras and bugging devices) and etc., he had quasi-omnipotent power to prove that Light was Kira. Therefore, if we consider things from this perspective, we will realize that L was not so poweless in comparison to Light, as even though Light had the powers of the Shinigami, he had restrictions on him which incapacitated him from killing L directly (which then would be a direct advantage). L’s thought pattern which lead to Light being the only suspect was terrifying. His deduction that Yagami was Kira was based solely on the evidences that NO one else could have been, given how FBI characters were the ones being targeted. However, even though he knew Light was Kira, let’s not forget how LIGHT plays out in all of this. L, throughout the whole series, sets up traps and tests Light Yagami. He blatantly states that he is L in front of Kira in order to get a reaction, tests him in a tennis game, tells him to become the successor of L in case he dies, and such. With all these traps, he believes that he may reveal that Light is Kira. Now, L is not only appealing to evidences and logic. He is appealing to see the micro expressions of the individual to his questions. That is something you barely can control, unless you are in the right mindset. Therefore, in order to overcome the traps set up by a highly intelligent person, you would have to have equivalent or higher intelligence to not fall for those. Light did exactly that. Not only has he kept his calm, firm posture when being taunted to L (who was in a much safer spot to be himself and act as he wishes), but also answered the questions in a manner that would be impossible to say that he was Kira. With this in mind, we can not only deduct that Light is incredibly intelligent in its contingency planning, but emotionally as well. Although he inevitably left clues that he might be Kira, he did not leave any PROSECUTABLE evidence that he could be Kira. In his room, he acted with perfection to show he was nothing but a student, utilized the death notes rules to its maximum extent, and so on. His execution was immaculate and PERFECT. To the point that not even L could prosecute him (as his plans were just too perfect, flawless, to leave a trace or clue of his endeavors). Let’s not deprive the fact that Light was also capable of manipulating a Shinigami into working for him. Furthermore, the shinigami is not a dumb one. It is Rem. Light managed to maneuver Rem before it could even realize it was being manipulated. The second Rem realized that Light had already masterminded his death, he also understood how cunningly he had set up the trap so that both L (which is immune to Light since he does not possess the eyes to see his name) and Rem (who could kill Light at any point given that he is a shinigami) would exterminate each other, which were at the moment Light’s biggest threats. The only way to kill L without being suspicious would be to utilize the Shinigami. The only way to kill the shinigami would have to be forcing the Shinigami to die for someone else. Kira took advantage of both of these weaknesses to kill two birds with a single stone. Furthermore, it would be ludicrous to not mention how he masterminded his plan to be seen as innocent. To prove himself to be innocent, he realized that he would have to make himself literally innocent. How would he do that? Simple. By literally being innocent. By erasing everything he has done, and forgetting about it. So, he plans a few kills weeks before he erases his memories, tells himself that he will be locked up so that deaths will still occur while he is locked up (showing that he is not Kira), understands that L is really good at reading others people intentions and therefore would be fooled by the oblivious Light, instructs the Shinigami to give the book to a greedy, power hungry individual, predicts that Light himself will be freed of prison due to the lack of proofs by L, which therefore leads to himself assisting L in finding ‘’Kira’’, leading to the arrest of Higuchi, which means that the Death Note would be taken from him and therefore end up in L’s hand, which would therefore end up in Light’s hand, which then leads to him recovering the memories at the exact moment when Higuchi is being imprisoned, which leads to him predicting that he would utilize the same watch which would contain a piece of the death note that would allow him to kill Higuchi. Not only he manages to predict how L and everyone else will react, he reads HIMSELF into the future, 100 steps ahead. There has no been any showcase that L has contrived as meticulously as Light has. At the end of the series, it is also apparent how Light’s intelligence is superior to L. When Light was exposed to be Kira at the end, Near said that himself plus Mello would be enough to pass L. This implies that Light was exposed due to intelligence of both, which if combined, were superior to that of L’s. However, let’s not undermine the fact that Light’s plan, in its purest form, did NOT fail. He predicted accurately what Near would do, exactly. Light, before Near himself thought about it, predicted that the latter would end up deducting that Takami would be the best fit to fulfill Kira’s wishes. Thus, realizing that Near was going to change the papers of the Death Note for fake ones, told him to create a fake death note and start annotating on it. All while pretending to not have realized that Light was aware of Near’s actions. How ridiculous that is? Had Takami not acted on his own and killed the woman (which Light told him over and over not do), the SPK would have not realized that Light had created a fake death note and that would result in all members of the SPK and everyone else opposing Kira getting assassinated. Light’s supreme, uncontested sagacity and ability to read into the future 100 steps ahead of anybody else, and into all all individuals minds, is unrivaled throughout the series. The epitome of masterminding. Light Yagami, without a doubt, is the most perspicacious. Had the author not decided that his evil endeavors would have to end, he would have certainly lived and reigned as Kira. Once again, this wasnt written by me and it was on Quora, written by Valor Stein all credits are due to him.
Besides that, people love to claim "L won here" in certain points, yet that's simply not true. L caught Light a bunch of times, but these never were enough to expose him. I personally believe both are equally intelligent, with L maybe being smarter due to being more experienced and being able to come to conclusions for unexplainable things in the eyes of a normal person and normal logic. Besides that, the whole point of Death Note is the mental battle between two highly intelligent young men, with both having different assets and weaknesses that balance each other out somewhat and make it more interesting. The story was quick to move on from L trying to figure out WHO Kira is because the main event is the duel, the HOW Kira kills and HOW L can prove it, as arrogance isn't just Light's weakness, but also L's. L plays by his rules which necessitate Light to be alive and for L to figure out the killing method to properly convict him. Additionally, L took a gamble by directly showing his face and coming into direct contact with Kira, which however worked as a safety net where keeping his enemy closer than his friends forced Light to orchestrate his assassination in a way that couldn't get him framed. In this game, winning guerrillas alone doesn't lead to winning the war, and both were aware of this, which makes me think neither was that far away intelligence-wise.
@@manunova5929well I would say that Light wasn't actually as smart as L, because of some big mistakes he made. That should have, if it wasn't for his luck, get him arrested. The clearest example of this is when he killed the FBI agents. Ray Penber should have reported that his identity was compromised when gave Light is ID. Any competent FBI agent would have done that, Light was lucky he didn't. As he would instantly been tied to the FBI agents deaths if he had. He also incredibly lucky that Naomi was at the police station just as he happened to be there, and he just happened to overhear information Naomi had, so that he could kill her and avoid being exposed. He's also incredibly lucky that it was snowing so Aizawa just happened to not see Light and Naomi together. Killing the FBI agents was a huge blunder by Light, and he was barely able to not expose himself by dumb luck.
@@manunova5929Light also continues to fall for L's traps, which this video is an example of. He also believes most of L's Light, and continues to confirm L's suspicions on him.
A lot of people like this clip because of what it says about Light, but not too many consider what it's telling us about L. This is actually an allegory for his position in the show. He offers Light 4 notes and tells him to piece together a coherent message with them, and show's him how its next to impossible to decode a scenario when there's an entire part of it you simply couldn't have known. In essence, that's what did L in. He was a mad genius, and yet he couldn't piece together the full message because there was a "4th note" that he had no way of knowing about. It was a rigged game.
Yep, that’s exactly right. L’s entire mentality as the worlds greatest detective operates under the phrase “consider the possibility…” He considered so many, and followed leads whenever he could with those considerations. But with his limited information, he failed to guess his move to check the 13 day rule would lead Rem to kill him. With what he was given, he would expect that shinigami don’t care about their humans. He was aware that there were two notes, and that each had a shinigami, but he would have had to predict Misa’s shinigami would rather die than see her die, and he’d have to somehow communicate to Rem he wouldn’t execute Misa.
@@xancer. checking the rule is what got him killed. At this point he was aware of rem, but hadn't caught wind of the relationship between rem and misa. That is the one possibility he would have had to guess at. Though Near was wary of shinigami interference bc of that one Sidoh dude slapping off face coverings in the mafia breach with Mellow, L didn't have that luxury. Since L knew Light's shinigami hadn't really helped him, except his suspicion on the 13 day rule which mightve possibly hinted him at looking into the relation btw misa and rem, shinigami interference wasnt really on his radar. So, that Rem would do something so rash bc misa was put in danger seemed improbable. At the end, L failed to consider her insane charm also applying to shinigamis lmao
@@darcash1738nteresting, i love this comment thread, L fans really got peak analysis just like Lawleit himself, super cool stuff, I hate rem, and hate misa, light had wayy too much plot armor, this really showed no matter how smart or honest u are, good looks and charisma are valued more than a genuine person, the task force displayed disgusting behavior I really wanted L to behead all of them 😂, also L coulda wrote light in the deathnote, coulda wrote that Light reveals himself as kira but shoots himself, but L had honour, now that i think of it it coulda been the perfect ending, L the next day writes that Light finally stops lying and they meet up at a warehouse, same one from the final episode, light reveals himself, L and him debate, and the same character reactions happen, Light tries running but L already knows he wont get far as he'll end up dying, oh god that would be SO GOOD

it might look like going overboard but that is the of the fundamental principle of investigation to expect there might be some missing part/parts, Light missed that in this scene
@@midorimemizuki5033 😂 I meant that he felt great. But as the series progressed ,he started making totally random guesses and got them exactly right. Like the writer forgot to include logic in the later parts of the series.
Not really.. The print numbers are kinda compelling the one solving to put the notes in a specific order.. and it would seem like an incomplete sentence pointing at the possibility of more notes Light went against the order and made sense of the 3 notes.. this is suspicious for any "normal" person
@@Zorothex5152But he was way to assure of himself, see the thing is a normal person would never have access to secret files by the government/fbi (or Light in this case), so it makes sense that L would immediately know it was him if he slipped up being so cocky there was three
maybe, but there's also the fact that, immediately after this, l asks light how he would go about the situation l is in (investigating kira) and light immediately comes up with a scenario in which the detective is speaking directly to the killer. l backhandedly praises him for that, while also indirectly pointing out that light just incriminated himself even further.
Even L was waiting for the fourth letter to came coz it felt incomplete but light didn't hesitate to look for the fourth which made him he might be kira
L caught Light's lies so many times. Pretty sure he already knew that Light is kira. Only problem was that he didn't had a solid evidence. Now the series was made by a Japanese guy. Story could have ended if it was written by aa guy living in a country where police is corrupt. Ending would have been like L just tell police guys ro beat the sh1t out of Light until he confesses everything.
This was literally Near. Near explained to his people that all they needed to do was kill Light, and if the killings stopped, then they knew they had the right guy. And if the killings kept going, then they could make an excuse or apology to the friends and family. But Near ultimately didn't go with this solution because he had too much pride to catch Light in the act. He wanted the evidence and watch Light's empire fall to pieces, which is what happened in the end. L was also willing to go to such lengths but Light's father and police force were always skeptical and got in L's way every time. As soon as Light's dad died, it opened the case wide open and allowed everyone to switch sides and divulge crucial details that heavily limited Light's movements and cornered him. All in all, Light, L, and Near were extremely prideful to not lose a game of chicken by killing the other players. Mello also had pride, but willingly made a move that could potentially get himself killed if it meant he could save Near and in turn Near could beat Light.
It’s crazy how he used a fake letter to add more onto the fact that Light is Kira man basically said “ah yes you were wrong because I tricked you but you would have only known if I had tricked you if you were Kira so the fact that you were clueless to the fact that my fake letter existed proves that you are Kira.”
What Light didn't realize is that catching him in a lie wasn't the main point of the test. L hadn't "seriously" expected Light to actually guess that L had a fourth note, that was just a cover.
Clue number 2,000 of light being Kira to L and I don't see many talk about this: The way Light reacts to things emotionally. Light always reacts so nonchalantly to the message and the mentioning of Gods of Death like it is just Tuesday to him. I am not claiming to know anyone's culture but I feel like it is a bad Even someone as fearless as L reacted in a puzzled manner a few times while Light was just like yeah it is another tuesday and he just assumes there are three cards. The only time Light really reacts however is when someone questions him on his decisions or competes with him and that gave it away big time. L is not only a genius when it comes to IQ but rather he is also able to read people and how they behave and Light just fits the bill as he is the only guy in the ball park of L's intellect and doesn't like losing.
The back of the paper includes numbers going: 1 2 4 So the info would show there's a missing paper. That and the sentence is mistranslated to English. The sentence sounds incomplete. And as L said, Kira didn't even think about a 4th paper even when the info shows it's incomplete. He then argues that it is complete even after being shown the evidence. And Kira didn't put the paper in the correct order and instead put it in the order of 4 1 2 which was the original way of putting it when L got them originally.
So I believe the author stated that L is the highest intellect in the series and that he was smarter than Light. He also knew Light was Kira for a decent amount of time but he had an obsession with proving he was right. This obsession led him to make poor decisions like letting Light go a number of times. He felt the *need* to prove it to everyone else through facts and logic rather than just putting the bad man away.
I think it's more complicated than that. It's one thing to know who's the culprit, but finding concrete evidence is a whole other story. You can't put someone in jail without proving that they're guilty. The fact that Light's dad was the chief of the police also made things more complicated...
he couldn't have just said "light is Kira, my sources? some boggling mind games I put him through" he needed concrete evidence. Honestly I don't think L would've been able to justify his case without finding out about the death note and exposing it
This was not a logic test. Many people get this wrong about L - it was a gotcha puzzle, designed to get a reaction out Light. Instead of being annoyed at L for winding him up, being humble & admitting it never crossed his mind or even asking if there's a fifth card - Light doubled down on his stance. "But given the information presented my deduction was perfect." Light is hyper-focused on beung correct about this. It's matches the psychological profile L has created for Kira.
In my opinion Light was smarter than L. Bc L is about 7 years older than Light,L has solved many many problems before that put human life into jeopardy and still for quite a long time Light worked alone and was 17 and L still couldn’t figure him out with his Task-force. Seeing the amount of Mysteries and problems L solved and was way more experienced and had solved WW2 when he was 8, alight did a perfect job as a 17 year old genius who only had solved one case before and was just getting good grades and had to deal with alot of things like killing and not having his privacy
well you're simply wrong. it was never light vs L. it was rather Light Misa 2 shinigami 2 Death note vs L. also if you think about this scene it shows that L told light that he couldn't figure out that there was a 4th letter showing this is what he put L in. L couldn't figure out all that supernatural stuff just same. and if Light ever was smarter than L he would never get defeated to Near that easily. L paved the path for Near to get to Light
@@vortexmcyti dont think light is smarter than L but you have to give light more credit he did have misa but she was a double-edged sword being a huge liability to him and many times he nearly got screwed over by her
L was an absolute genius in the series, caught Light several times but had very little evidence to back it up. It's a shame that Light was saved by plot armor and for L, the plot was against him furthermore he was against not one but two kiras working together, the second kira having the shinigami eyes put him at an absolute disadvantage still he managed to outsmart them, L's only downfall was the fake 13 day rule and when he found the solution to that problem, Rem knew it was over for Misa and Light so he had to kill him at once. L deserves all the love and respect in the series, he didn't deserve to die. L>>>>Light>Near
Ok I'm gonna debunk everything here The second kira was nothing but a liability to Light which actually puts L at an advantage. He never outsmarted light, the reason he was able to capture misa was because she didnt listen to Light's orders to not make contact for 2 weeks. thats why he had to set it all up in the first place, and if misa was caught, while that may have put her in the coffin, there is no proof that light is also Kira as there is no evidence. Even if the fake rules are exposed, what can L do then? How would he prove that Light tampered with the death note?
@@subwall7464 well wouldn't he test the fake rule on an inmate and if they didn't die, that wouldn't make Light innocent so he would be put behind the bars again, as for the third kira Light chose, I am sure L would find him one way or the other and the story would work out in favor of L. ps: I am kinda passive-aggressive towards the whole thing about L dying so what I am saying may be sentimental and may not be correct.
l continuously outsmarted light well l have more expirrence than light but in the end light made perfect plan without any mistakes and he won but i think both are equal. well some of you guya say if l had that death note he will easly beat light and that's right but if light had l's expirence he would have also beat l easly

It’s been nearly a decade since I watched Death Note and I agree with the sentiment on the comment that L is smarter than Light. But this has got to be one of the weakest “traps” L set up for Kira because reacting the way Light did would not necessarily incriminate him as Kira. Imagine if you were in Light’s shoes, just as smart but innocent, and you were trying to figure out who Kira is. You get a bunch of document evidence, you study them, and try to make sense of it. Then you notice a pattern or a secret message. You then show your finding to your boss and instead of telling you you’re wrong, and that there was actually more evidence that was just found, he accuses you of being the criminal. Imagine if every detective become reluctant to work with limited evidence because if they get it wrong, they become guilty of the crime they’re trying to solve. It’s pretty common to work with limited evidence and to collect more as cases progress. Finding ALL the evidence for a case is also probably unlikely or impossible in most situations.
Yeah but most people would question the origin of the note or show intrigue towards the note instead of doubling down and say that their analysis was perfect.
@@TeifitV I get that argument. But the thing is in a lot of prestigious academic institutions, the students are often very snobby and egotistical, and believe they’re smarter and better than everyone else. Given that Light was in a prestigious university and is known to be very smart, it’s not surprising that he would presume himself to be correct.
It’s less of an evidence issue and more of a test of personality. Light instead of admitting he was wrong, doubled and quadrupled down on his adamant stance of being correct logically with what he had, showing he cared more about victory than the truth, which fit with the psychological profile L had built for Kira
The only thing I hated about the show is the fact L just knew Light was Kira with absolutely 0 proof. He was too stubborn to change his mind, anyone would’ve stopped suspecting light right from the start but the script demanded L knee Light was Kira from episode 1.
He used mind tricks, such as the clip in the video. Also somehow coincidentally a genius that might be able to access the police station doesn't have a possibility for a genius killer who somehow always knows what the police are doing? And also lives where Kira is suspected to be? And somehow already clear when he put cameras in his house? Also the way he speaks is too calculated, too planned, as if he's being careful. Pretty damn suspicious to me.
@@thebookwithmanycoversHe definitely had every reason to suspect Light after this scene. But what sounded too far-fetched and ridiculous to me about this whole show is how L literally started exclusively investigating Light and dropped the investigation on everyone and everwhere else because Light appeared to be "suspiciously innocent" when they installed hidden cameras in his room and found nothing.
@@absolutivaly I mean you're more likely to investigate on someone you're already doubting on. Like how you are more likely to blame someone for something because they were accused of something. And also isn't it suspicious that Light didn't even listen to the news about the criminals on the very first day?
I mean in the starting there were limited suspect as only police detective families were in suspicion and among all of them light was shining too brightly being the smartest.L wasn't stupid to judge a person just bcoz they looked like a good person.Thats why he was suspicious of him since the starting.Specially bcoz light didn't looked like a person with brain ability limited to a high schooler
I totally understand your frustrations, and for the most part you're right, however, I think that IS the point of this character dynamic, early on L described Kira as someone "childish" and "hates to lose" and in this scene that shines through with Light's character and what's even more brilliant just like how Light didn't know about the 4th note, from L's perspective he doesn't know about the other piece of the puzzle AKA the Death Note itself.
