Almost perfectly leveled floor / Renovating a 110+ y.o. ABANDONED farm in Belgium

You should look at some vlog from Escape to Rural France and see how he put in beams and wood beams between, using noggins....no metal corner hanger pieces, no drilling, all very simple and incredibly stable. It would save you a huge amount of time and effort, perhaps.

Illia, a quick tip to make the drilling easier on those thick beams. If you keep the drill bit lubricated where it is cutting it will go much faster and you will need to use less force. You could buy cutting or tapping fluids like machinists use if you want. But realistically all you'll need is some basic motor oil. It won't take much a few squirts in a little pool right around the head of the drill. It'll save you time and energy. Maybe you did do this and it was lost in editing I'm not sure. But I figured I'd mention it just in case.

It is such a good feeling when you can go to the garden and get beautiful, ripe fruit.

I love that you are figuring out how to get everything level using low tech strings. It makes perfect sense when you explain it. I also love how much fresh produce you have ready to eat.

I really like the low tech green laser. It was a great idea.used the "X" for squaring, and the center string is an idea I have never seen. Garden hose filled with water work great to level things to. When both ends are at same height the water in the tube will show that. Preferably clear tube! Guess today lazer is a better choice?

Я только не могу понять, зачем вам эти железные балки в самом углу, где крыша настолько низко, что вы этим местом не сможете пользоваться? Этот мёртвый объём не требует такого же мощного перекрытия, как обитаемый, там было бы достаточно лёгкого потолка.

Seems to me it is a bit over kill putihg metal beams where a good 2x6 or 8 set on 2 ft or 18" centers would be sufficient for any ceiling structer. This would be adequate even if you intended to form a second floor space above it. Just wondering.....

@11:34 Using strings will work ok, but every beam that is too high will push the string up rendering it useless.👴😨 To avoid this, get some pieces of wood that have the same thickness and use them as a spacer to set up the line. Then with another piece of the same thickness you can check the gaps.👴😉 @14:40 For that last cm., you also can use some polyester stuffing. Mix it properly, put it in a plastic bag (to avoid a mess) and lower the beam on it to its proper height. Within the hour the polyester will be cured and form a perfect bed. You can even saw the edges to let it look better.👴😊
