I've never heard of anyone doing a live stream at 24fps. Almost all monitors, smartphone screens and TV screens (NTSC) work with a frequency of multiples of 60 (Iphone 15 up to 120Hz). That's why 30fps and 60fps are standard and that's why 24fps is pointless outside of real cinema, as it always has to be converted to a minimum of 30fps. But you learn something new every day. Very nice that you share your experiences. As long as you learn from your mistakes, at least they were good for something :)

That’s great to know! It was my first time and they didn’t tell me exactly what camera settings they needed so I just took matters into my own hands and tried to help out with what I thought would be helpful to them, but since now Ik it’s a great learning experience for me!

You can get a Sony 18-105 lens used for a few hundred dollars and also a 55-210 for about $250. That should cover you for all ranges

I actually was looking at those 2 options haha

I had the tamron 25-75 and 70-180, ended up moving to the tamron 20-40 and Samyang 35-150. Covers 95% of all of my stills event work and I can crop for the rest. If you're lopped off on a tripod the 35-150 is gonna be fine, but don't even try to gimbal it.

Haha yea a lot of people are telling me it’s not the best on a gimbal

It’s very interesting seeing how other filmmakers prefer what focal lengths they use and need. I’m the complete opposite of yourself right now. I love the Sony 24-70 2.8, it’s my perfect lens to bring if I don’t know what I’m shooting, 9 times out of 10 it gives me a great image. But a lot of my stuff is more like event coverage, or B-roll where I’m pretty close to my subject, so zooming into 50 and 70mm actually does give me a different look as opposed to being 20 feet back and trying to zoom in, if you need a one and done lens the tamron 35-150 might work, if you could get your hands on a Mk1 Sony 70-200, I have that lens and it’s a great combo to have with a 24-70 lens when you need a different look.
@dillondre
@dillondre 7 месяцев назад
Yea for me the 24-70 is fine when I do my event work, my only big issue is that it only goes to 70mm sometimes I get event jobs where I’m locked off in the back of the room or a corner of a room and I need that little extra reach to capture a speaker on stage etc etc, and I’m just at the point now in my career I want to carry as little as possible, so for me to try to find that “perfect” zoom lens that has a longer reach but still maintaining a pretty low aperture for that horrible lighting that indoor events typically have, as well maybe even a internal zoom would be fantastic for me, im not opposed to getting a 70-200 but if I can find a lens that has a long enough reach where I don’t have to buy a 70-200 I’m more down for that
@Cinovamedia
@Cinovamedia 7 месяцев назад
@@dillondre yeah I get it, those super zoom lenses have compromises, I wish I could have some sort of 24-150 2.8 lens ideally. But when you have such a big focal length and big aputure you will sacrifice having a lightweight setup or it’s ridiculously expensive, especially for a full frame sensor so the lenses will have to be big. I hope you find a good option that works for you I’d love to know what you end up going with when you find the right lens
@Cinovamedia
@Cinovamedia 7 месяцев назад
I have a whole set of GM zoom lenses but having two lenses in a camera kit is not the worst thing in the world, but yeah I agree the more stuff you bring with you it’s more to worry about and maintain.

Hey, I'm in the same boat as you regarding finding the perfect zoom. I own the Sigma 24-70mm as well, only two options I can think of are the Sony 24-105 f/4 & Tamron 35-150mm. I've rented both but wasn't completely sold because of the f/4 on the 24-105 & the weight of 35-150mm. Ended up just getting the Tamron 70-180mm used for $400 and that has solved most of my needs! Sorry for the long message, but just wanted to share my 2 cents and also say your content is dope! I've been following your page since I got the FX6 and your content has been very helpful! Keep going man & hope you find a good lens that meets your needs 💯

I appreciate your kind words!! How was the tamron 35-150? Was the weight really a big issue using it for a long period of time? How was it pared with the fx6? Would love to know your comments and concerns!! The 70-180 seems pleasing as of the price but I definitely would need something wider then 70 if I was going to sell my 24-70, but it’s nice to know if I keep waiting and can’t find that perfect zoom then for 400$ that might be the way to go! Especially since I know I wouldn’t really be using it like that so I won’t feel to bad about spending 400$
@iambrandonscales
@iambrandonscales 7 месяцев назад
@@dillondre no problem! When I rented the 35-150mm I didn’t have the FX6 yet so can’t comment on that. That lens paired with my A7S3 was definitely front heavy and I had it on a gimbal and was having issues. For a long period of time even handheld, you’ll start to feel it. & yeah the 70-180mm has been a great addition the actual cost was maybe $700 or so used but I traded in an old lens for that but nevertheless a good alternative 👍🏾

Get the Tamron 35-150mm or the Sigma 70-200mm.

@dillondre You can't go wrong with either. I have the Sigma 70-200 for L Mount and at $1,500 it's a steal.

For livestream I usually keep it at natural (straight out the camera color) profile. Seems to work fine in my experience.

Fx6 is a bit heavy. Have you thought about using a shoulder support?
@dillondre
@dillondre 7 месяцев назад
Uk i honestly haven’t, reason being is because I have a easy rig with the quick release function that I bring on my longer event jobs, I seen a couple RU-vidrs make shoulder rig videos but I never really felt like I needed it for the style of work I do, maybe in the future when I get into more documentaries and even commercial films I may consider one

Grab the Tamron! I’ve never been one to shoot on zooms but now I go for it over my primes purely because on jobs I can chop and change focal lengths so easy! I use it for both photo and video, weight isn’t an issue. For the price it’s a steal and I’ll honestly say my primes are just gathering dust now 👍

It's good to see a simple livestream shoot. Doing a rental shoot is something you don't see a lot. They should have told you what they wanted as far as frame rate. Or they should have done that themselves.
@dillondre
@dillondre 7 месяцев назад
Yea I honestly didn’t even have to stay for this shoot, I could’ve just dropped the camera off and left, but since I wanted to learn something new I decided to stay and help out (even though I didn’t have to since I didn’t get paid for being a DP) the final live stream still came out pretty good, client was happy so that’s always good

I bought the version 1s of Sony 24-70 and 70-200 for just under and just above 1000 used. They basically get me everything other than that wide coverage you mentioned
@dillondre
@dillondre 7 месяцев назад
Yea I rented a Sony 70-200F4 in one of my other vlogs for a keynote speaker job I got and it was okay, I wasn’t to much of a big fan of it, I’m really just trying to find that one lens that gets me that farther reach but I’m not losing out on the wide side either…

Dzo 18-90 is for s35 anyways. I’ve been on a zoom journey the last few months and I have an item coming in that will show you another world of lenses. It’s not applicable for most situations but like I said, it’s going to be really different.

They were using a Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K. I do Live Streams for weddings, funerals and other event. Using the Yolobox Pro or Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro.

Thank you for that comment! Great to know! What I did in this vlog to connect my FX6 to the blackmagic web presenter 4K is it pretty similar to how you plug in for your livestream work? Just a SDI cable running from the camera to the box ?
