@Louiebruh1 I wont be fighting, keep thinking what you thinking, I only say this, no one is interested in what you say, you just annoing and theres a big chance by your acting that your friends will leave you even you even any friends
I love how he walks back in thinking he'll get a second try to avoid the fight, only to watch in horror as Susie proves she's a true Legend of Zelda player
Because so many damn people didn't get the hint from his name or the item named after him in Chapter One. Rouxles Kaard and Rouxls Roux (pronounced Rules Card and Rules Rue respectively. Admittedly, I didn't connect the name immediately, but being a bit of a cook, I recognized the Roux for what it was, and the dots just fell into place from there.
It's on my Undertale/Deltarune playlist because I love it so much. The scene adds even more hilarity to such a stupid yet amazing character that has no point to it other than Toby just going, "Yeah, I'll add one of the most funny characters in for a series of scenes that have no point to them other than to make the player laugh." Good idea, I love it.
I like rules, but there are rules that should not be followed, such as tyrant rules, or that rule number, it shall not be mentioned, it is a bad rule. It's not even official
I find interesting how Susie is consistently the only character that ignores Kris's choices/commands and makes her own. Every time we "imagine what she is doing" and we are prompted with a choice, no matter what we choose, she just does her own thing (like how she ignored our command to which side turn in chapter 1 in the dungeon and here with the answer to Noelle's question), or how she learns on her own how to ACT after getting pissed at Kris making all the decisions in battle. On the other hand, Ralsei is always prompting Kris/Player to make the call every turn and seems oddly aware of the game mechanics
Yeah and something that’s also funny is that when queen calls to the frisk on the tv screen, you can see what looks to be the default windows xp wallpaper. Also the paintings In queen’s castle have the got em hand gesture. It really goes to show that the queen is trying to be relevant. 😂
That is because player choices are tied to the "soul" (the red heart) inside Kris, which is us, the player. Susie does not have it, so we cannot tell her what to do.
Another fact that may add to Ralsei being aware of the player is with the photo, why woulf he pose the wrong way despite knowing which way the photo is suppose to be taken (which he should know since he’s aware what a camera is) the answer could be he was taking that decision as to pose for the player
Susie somehow seems immune to the whole “puppet to the game” thing Kris and the darkeners have going on and I for one think it’s really nice to see whenever she does something that seems to go against the rules or flow of things.
When she made Ralsei dance earlier on in the episode, I genuinely started dancing and cackling at her choice of words. Susie is one of my favorite characters for her lack of fucks to give.
And then later Berdly is captured and Noelle was nowhere to be found Kinda feels like she gave him up to the Queen and ran like hell just to get him out of the picture lmao
@@SoftBunnyPaws it's more or less used as a way of saying "stay optimistic" or "stay hopeful," but it also is used to describe someone with a reddish complexion! (It comes from the latin word 'sanguineus' which DOES mean blood, though!)
@@TrueRedditTales. they’re just giving advice, Jack couldn’t find where to check it before and information doesn’t hurt anyone :) nobody is forcing him to do anything, he doesn’t have to go pacifist if he doesn’t want to
Watching the acid tunnel ride and ferris wheel scene I realized, Jack made pretty much all the opposite dialogue choices to me and still the responses were more or less the exact same. Does this mean that the player can only control Kris, and controlling the others is sort of an illusion? Another point about that is how Susie is so independent in this chapter (learns her own moves, becomes a healer, chooses to go with Ralsei etc) while Ralsei always wants Kris to be the leader and follows their every order. Just an observation :0
I have a theory that the third and maybe fourth chapters we might have control over Susie and Kris is the boss we have to fight. But that's just a theory *A Game Theory*
I think it's more like a voice in their head, sure while you directly control Kris in the snow grave route it describes you as a terryfying voice, still talking even when Kris is down
Since Ralsei was all "let's close our eyes and imagine what Susie's doing right now" I figured maybe the "choices" were actually Kris and Ralsei guessing at what Susie was going to say, and she's just doing her own thing regardless. Also, what if you say you want to go with Susie instead of Ralsei? Does she still run off with Ralsei or does he go on his own while it's you and 5u5uvie?
Susie is absolutely the main character of this story. I have a feeling we’ll start seeing her shift into that role a lot more in later chapters. Maybe the same will happen with Ralsei and the others.
From a writing perspective, it wouldn't be wrong to call Susie the main protagonist, since she is the one who going through a transformative character arc. That is to say, she has much more of a personal story than Kris, who is just the player avatar, or Ralsei who so far has been a very static support character. (Notably, the protagonist doesn't necessarily have to be the hero or main focus character, it's just that they usually are.) Also, we know that there's apparently something seriously wrong with Kris, and it's hinted that they are a different character from player-controlled Kris. I really wouldn't put it beyond Toby to have Kris become the villain at some point, and then Susie has to step up and save the day with the power of friendship or whatever.
@@RelativelyBest She's the main protagonist, but I think there's an underlying story about Noelle at play, as well. Toby is establishing bits and pieces about her sister Dess (December?) who appears to be missing, according to context clues. I think the bond between Noelle and Susie is going to become important later in the story, maybe even fundamental to finding Dess.
@@RelativelyBest As you said Susie is undergoing a pretty big character arc. But she’s also deciding things for herself, rejecting the idea that acting should be something only Kris can do, getting love interests, and many other thing that would be typical of a main character. And I do agree that Kris might actually become the villain in the story. Kris literally frees themself of us (the player)’s control by ripping out their soul and taking out a knife. We also know (thanks mainly to Noelle and her father) that Kris was a really creepy kid before we took control of them, often doing actively malicious things like trying to traumatise Noelle. I think that at some point Kris’s own behaviour is going to be positively/negatively influenced by our decisions after Susie/Ralsei ditch them after realising that they were actually evil and we as the player were controlling them.
She will be the new Undyne who will fight against evil Kris in the future just you wait Hopefully she won't meet the same fate as Undyne in the genocide route 😐
@@phoebeaurum7113 Technically they don't make the choices AS IN you cant make the choices of others and your own choices are limited but you can still have an influence on those choices of others, Kris probably prevents us from doing a genocide route ourselves because they still seem to have semi control over themselves because they're able to force us out.
@@phoebeaurum7113 Well it's still kinda true, we need Noelle to make those choices for us. There is the argument of "But we're telling her to do it" but, counter argument, her choice to listen to us.
Ok so two things: Secret boss that you're yet to fight and alternate path. It's a bit tricky to trigger them so if you truly don't want to be spoiled do them as post game or something. Just make sure to keep a secondary save for the alternate ending path, it might come in handy in future chapters. also do the secret boss before you do the alternate route. 8:24 REMEMBER THIS AREA FOR LATER! You always move through the save menu so fat that you don't even see the other options. THAT is where you can check if you've recruited everyone or not, at the save points. Also if Trashy is there then you have NOT recruited everyone.
*A triple-A game developer:* "Okay, we've got a river section, so let's put in a boat." *Toby Fox:* "Okay, we've got a river section where the river is _battery acid,_ so let's put in a boat that's a _swan boat_ from the Tunnel of Love!" *_This,_* folks, is why indie devs are _better_ than triple-A.
A fun little detail you missed in this chapter was that whenever there was Queen’s laugh in the music (the sound you said made you think you did something wrong), all of the paintings stopped attacking to laugh along with the music!
"A therapist would have a FIELD DAY with this conversation" There's a lot of things in this game a therapist could have a field day with... And I probably need one after experiencing some of them.
@@Dooby_Scoot no but really, like it a good, well bad considering context, example of manipulation and gaslighting (although im not quite sure that is the best term, because noelle is convincing herself she's imagining it and crazy not kris/player), so much to unpack in that route
@@boodledemic6430 She doesn't seem to entirely hate the Weird route, insisting on using her ice powers in the hospital scene after 'waking up' which might suggest she liked being in control. 👀
Fun-Fact: Rouxls Kaard is actually supposed to represent the instruction manual card that comes in a deck to tell you how to play. That's why his name is literally pronounced Rules Card lol He's literally the most useless card in the entire deck 😂😭
2 things that I've noticed. 1: when you get that white outline around the heart, you gain TP a LOT faster. 2: Isn't... Ralsei a Darkner...? Why isn't HE turning to stone...?
bc of the fountain pure darkness something something lol and darkners have colored sprites while lightners have black and white sprites OH and btw starwalker doesnt turn into stone either
The fountain he came from is made from pure darkness which allows him to be in other dark worlds. The fountain is also why other darkners can stay in your town without turning into stone
The bit in the music that makes you think you've done something wrong, is actually Queen's laughter. If you're in the portrait room and the theme is playing, her portraits will stop attacking to laugh with the music. 😂
I watched this episodes in parts so I can’t remember if he specifically said he wanted to do the snow grave run here or it was just this small segmented quote. Cuz Snowgrave is different as it is a very specific pathing choice. As a 'regular RPG' Jack would most likely just have everyone attack instead of any one specific character.
becaue Snowgrave is VERY specific he would only trigger the neutral ending where...... SPOILER!!!!! Berdley forcefully rips of his wire and paralyses his arm
Ralsei: “You think of me as more than a lackey?” Jack: “I think of you as a friend. But if you think it’s anything more than that, you’re mistaken.” *1 minute later*
Right lol hearing him not understand that Rouxl is literally the RULES CARD (bc Lancer and his dad were spades, etc) is both entertaining and mildly frustrating haha
Fun fact about Rouxls Card: The game references him as the "rules card" that you get in a pack of cards most of the time that most people ignore which is why they say "Nobody cares about him" because no one cares about the Rouxls/Rules card.
If i had a nickel for every lesbian couple in undertale that has the butch, muscular, “mean” girl paired with the shy, nerdy girl I would have two nickels which isn’t many but it’s crazy that it happened twice!
Although it is possible Susie isn’t into girls. All we know is noelle likes her, and honestly that would be a cool twist. How we’d expect them to get together like alphys and undyne or the guards but Susie only thinks of her as a friend. That would be interesting
Toby seems to like the Macho Masculine Girl + Nerdy Feminine Girl dynamic a lot. I also kinda saw it with Kris and Ralsei, since despite Kris having an unconfirmed gender like Frisk, they look pretty masculine to me, while Ralsei seems pretty feminine in contrast. I don't know whether the Acid Tunnel of Love segment was meant to be either teasing or trolling, therefore.
itd be pretty interesting to see how theyll develop since alphys and undyne already like each other in undertale. and noelles crush is pretty onesided for now.
Hey Jack, just wanted to point out in case you're interested: There's a secret boss you're about to miss. That boss is not only an extra fight, but also contains a pretty atmospheric sequence leading up to it and contains some more character development and I recommend checking it out before leaving the Dark World and overwriting your save file (cuz that would be the point of no return). So if you want to do it, head to the very left of the garbage dump. I'm sure you can figure it out from there! :P EDIT: Well, there's one more thing. Remember those blue checkmarks you collected? Three of them, then you talked to the hacker guy and he activated fireworks? Yeah, you died without saving and they got reset. And you (usually) need the help of that hacker to find the secret boss, which he will only offer if you find those checkmarks. So. If you want to do the secret boss, you'll either have to go back to get the checkmarks and talk to the hacker afterwards, or, at the point where you seemingly reach a dead end, you'll have to randomly try to interact with objects in your surroundings to find the way forward. Either way is fine honestly.
or we could just tell him where the hidden switch is... its in a long hallway to the east. if you keep hitting the confirm button along the top of the hallway, you should find it
@@trsamisari Wait, actually, I just went back to double check since I was fairly certain that he did collect all blue checkmarks and, well, he did. He even talked to hacker afterwards to activate the fireworks, so I don't know what went wrong here, as Hacker should have been in the dining area! EDIT: I found it. He didn't save afterwards and died against the three robots, so the checkmarks got reset.
Rouxls Kaard just reminds me of Mettaton, how he’s a reoccuring miniboss in the game, giving you different puzzles and challenges. I’m getting so much goddamn Mettaton vibes. I really can’t be the only one right.
1:04:49 Susie literally would never bend down to ask someone to repeat themselves or said she understood they were having a rough time before the first chapter, she has grown so much.
Susie is a harem mc at this point, she’s got Noelle, birdly, and maybe Kris, crushing on her and she is completely oblivious and indifferent to all of them. It’s the funniest damn thing
If you go right here, you can't go back to the dark world - it's the final fight. Don't forget to go to the GARBAGE ZONE to meet SPAMTON like he said Also you can check recruits at checkpoints
Jacksepticeye, you could see how many you've recruited by each save point by clicking recruites from the menu. You can see from there how who you recruited and who hasn't yet.
I love how Jack speaks through clenched teeth whenever Susie bares her teeth, it’s really on point. It’s really nice seeing how much he cares about not just providing us with cool and fun voices for the characters, but also having fun with the game!
Remember to check your recruits at save points! It's one of the options besides the ability to save. Recruiting every monster from a chapter gets you...well, the good ending. As far as I'm aware.
I like how you get choices during the Susie and Noelle scene, but Susie doesn't follow either of the choices no matter what you choose. Nice play on normal RPGs, flipping it to remind you that you are only controlling Kris.
@@christina3537 why's he keep shoving us back in there then, I'd be perfectly happy to have my soul sprout legs and run around like when you flee in undertale
Fun Fact: When Fighting Rouxles, depending on what combination of parts you used in Chapter 1, alters what attacks he uses, like if you made the thing out of Duck parts, the attacks will revolve around Ducks, though the falling blocks is a default move he'll use regardless. Also, did you know you cant technically lose the fight with him, even if he has more houses than you, he'll end up turning to stone like before. (I'm probably wrong but it's what I've noticed after playing both chapters twice.)
I didn’t know that the parts mattered! Interesting! Also the parts go onto your power rangers robot thing the megazord Also yeah you don’t have to concentrate on the house game. I mean if you’re bad at battling make it end as fast as possible to avoid a lot of damage. Like blocking him off quickly or making yourself lose faster. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose the house game he gets turned to stone when the house game ends and you pass through
@@cezarcatalin1406 Yes, and no. Susie's a tsundere, she'd never actually hurt Noelle, and I think that's the point our lil' fawn is trying to make. Since she's in a situation where her dad's sick and she's lost her sister, it's nice to her that she has a scary thing in her life which can be controlled. Like the horror movie, Susie is a factor that isn't actually dangerous, but still gives her a distraction through fear. Granted, it isn't a healthy mindset, but it's understandable.
@@SoftBunnyPaws Ok so I am a bit clueless about this stuff but during their date Jack said that it was full of red flags (jokingly) and I know that her mindest isn't exactly the healthiest but I am still lost on that? I don't completely understand it (Also if you speak to Catti in her job she says something about Susie being a bad influence on Noelle and I have been thinking whether it's Catti judging Susie because she doesn't like her or is it foreshadowing for something in the upcoming chapters. But I don't exactly understand their relationship so I can't really analyse this and it's bugging me so bad lol)
@@jolynesbuns4765 Well, from what I gather, Noelle is the main reason for the red flags. Susie has proven herself to be a noble person who uses aggression as a way to handle situations that startle her or make her uneasy. The fact that she finds out about Kris' ability to make pie and starts punching them, says that she kind of acts on impulse, especially since her first instinct in battle is to swipe her axe at the opponent. But Noelle is actively saying that she'd like to be with someone who scares her, and that's quite dangerous because she's likely projecting her desire to have a peaceful home life, onto Susie. We learn from Rudy that Noelle's mother is hard on her, there's a strong chance she ends up scared at home a lot. Perhaps that's who she's talking about when she says 'People are scary' because we know she isn't talking about Susie. If you read between the lines, she may like Susie because she knows that Susie snaps at her out of affection, and fears her mother just doesn't like her. Hence the statement, 'You're the good kind of scary.' What Noelle seems to be saying she's looking for, is someone to scare her, but it's justified because they care about her. The Snowgrave route seems to reflect this, when Kris becomes aggressive due to the player, Noelle tells herself that they're just doing it because they care about her. With that kind of mindset, she could end up seeking someone who scares her for their own enjoyment, and as the player shows through Kris, can easily manipulate her into doing horrible things. So, in summary, I think Noelle's attitude is due to taking hostility at home and setting the justification of; "She's just doing it because she cares." Which is then being set to everything. Susie snaps at her, but that's okay because she cares. Kris tells her to freeze enemies, but that's okay because they care. They're just trying to make her stronger, to teach her how to take control. That, in my opinion, is why it's a dangerous mindset. It's all just theory though. 😅
@@SoftBunnyPaws Oh yeah it's all coming together. Being a big fan of scary and freaky stuff, I completely misinterpreted what Noelle meant by "scary" but now that you put it into words I can see how unhealthy that is and tbh since Toby doesn't shy away from writing unhealthy relationships in deltarune (Asgore to Toriel and Ralsei and Kris' one-sided relationship) I think it is very possible he can do that with Susie and Noelle. Man I can't wait for the upcoming chapters
Just a note for next episode: the next time you reach a save point, you'll be locked out of most of this chapter, so I'd recommend saving in a separate file. You did miss some stuff, so if you ever want to go back, having a backup will let you get to it easily, although it's your choice.
Please don’t miss out on the secret boss Jack!! (Unless you prefer to of course haha - only mentioning it if you wanted to do it since it’s a lot of fun and full of secret lore!) Just make sure to backtrack to the garbage area and go through the hole in the fence at the very end and through the door! It’s definitely worth the effort and if you continue past here (without saving a separate save to come back to at least) you won’t be able to do it!
