Fun fact, in the Normandy campaign churches actually played a pretty important role as almost every town would have a church near its center, giving a good vantage point for defense.

That and it was very common for towns to have more than one (like one main church for the dominate religion in the town and then several smaller ones for the lesser religions) due to the fact that each religion variation back then REALLY needed their own church as they weren't allowed in a church of a religion that differed even slightly unlike today's churches which are nearly a "one size fits all" kind of deal.

Fun fact, that’s an absolute bunch of nonsense because in WWII, it broke the Geneva convention to practice attacks against any form of cultural property under Rule 38, and bans the use of any cultural property for any military use or purpose, with the exception of a medic station but only under the consent from the properties officials or owners under Rule 39, and it says the same things for Germans in The Hague regulations under section 7-B. So please for the love of god, don’t just repeat things you hear.

3:46 I did not know this was a thing in game, but in real life it makes sense: the warmer air is, the less compact it is. So by having a colder environment the shell will hit more air particles as it travels (slowing it down) compared to warmer environments. (this rule applies to all substances: as they cool down they compress and when they warm up they expand. A perfect example of this are mercury thermometers). Edit: someone below commented about this and it is true; the trajectory is also affected by propellant temperature, since it will burn faster at a warmer environment. Though which if these two if not both are modeled I do not know.

However lower air temperature (assuming you're doing shooty with planes) is at a lot higher altitudes. Where the air is very thin already. Also YES war Thunder does take into account that jet engines perform better with low air temperatures than high heat

Another almost useful knowledge is that the L3/33 can hide inside the houses at the A point on the map Japan if you shoot out a door first. The walls will be invisible from the inside so you see the enemy while they can't see you.

unfortunately the houses have 0 durability, just siting there will break them. there are lots of good spots on the cargo port map though, including a way for l3s (and other similarly sized vehicles like the wiesel) to actually see the water part of the map

Fun useless fact. Back in Ground forces CBT the shot camera wasn't in little window on the screen but rather a 3D model attached to the actual vehicle. Meaning when you shot a tank you saw your round do module damage in real time as the skeleton damage structure became the 3D model of the actual tank temporarily.

One explanation for 3:45 is that the temperature affects the velocity of the projectile you're shooting. One way it does that is the gunpowder burns a tiny bit slower, slightly decreasing velocity and therefore increasing projectile drop, in the cold environments compared to hot environments.

3:41 drop of the shell is difrent for difrent air temperatures (due to fact that colder air has bigger dencity so drag is bigger so shell will be slowing down faster). Its also work in air battles where planes in Winter have smaller stall speed.

They chose a more arcadey gun play with almost-instant reload. I just don't find the game appealing with that reason alone .

With that last Easter egg with the artillery being dropped on yourself… you can here that over the radio from other players on your team… since placing artillery DOES leave markers on your mini map where it’s being dropped (so you have no escude when being team killed by it) So if you that Easter egg phrase… just look at the map and you will se the person in need of help.

To explain the tank shell drop in different maps: that's because of different temperatures and altitude. To further explain: Temperature: air temperature is a measurement of how much the molecules move around. The more they move, the farther apart they are. And with less molecules to push through, there's less air to slow your shell down, resulting in a flatter trajectory at higher temperatures. The same concept also affects the flight performance of planes. Altitude: basically just how high above sea level you are. Air is also affected by gravity. (the atmosphere gets thinner as you go up) Together, these two factors can have an impact on tank shells and aircraft flight performance.

One knowlodge that not many players know about, but, it's possible to stabilize practically every tank in the game, even without a stabilizer, in controls for movement there's "ground vehicle transmission gear up/down (frontwards/backwards), I think by default it's E and Q, and it sets the speed of the tank to slow, medium, and fast, on slow speed you get stabilized, the Tortoise and T95 are stabilized even on medium speed, but some tanks aren't able to stabilize even on slow speed, like the phanter series. But! there's actually a way of stabilizing even those tanks that can't in slow speed, still on controls for movements, there's "Transmission Mode", which changes the way your transmission work, where you manually put what gears it shifts to using E and Q, the panther on slow speed (CC 1) goes to gear 4, changing the transmission mode to manual you can change to gear 3, and be stabilized.

The different maps affecting drop is due to air density from air temperature. A colder environment has denser air and will slow down projectiles ever so slightly more.

3:42 Theres a very simple explanation for this, the "pull" from gravity is actually not constant throughout the earth. Some places in the world experience more or less gravitational force than other places. This scales with sea level, the higher you are the less gravity will have an effect, the lower you are the more it will have an effect. However this difference is very minute, hence why in that part of the video, the range table thing isn't that much different sub 1000m, but you start to notice a difference the further you try to shoot. But theres also a myriad of other variables that could affect ballistics like humidity, pressure, and air density.

3:42 Cold makes air more dense. Dense air means more drag on the round, more drag equals increased bulletdrop. I'm impressed they even have this simulated in the game, it cant be a mistake. This is all of course referring to sea level as cold air is not always more dense, higher in the atmosphere it gets colder but density is lower because there is less pressure pushing the molecules together

3:43 I'm no where near being an expert or any form of authority in physics, but that makes sense to me. Seeing as cold air is more dense than warm air, it makes sense that shells fired in colder environments would have a bit more drop, as they have to push through that cold, dense air.

3:41 Interesting that this is infact modeled in the game but the reason for this is that at lower temperatures the propellant will burn at a lower rate, reducing the muzzle velocity of the projectile. Likewise, hot temperatures increase the burn rate, increasing the muzzle velocity and barrel pressure. That's why Germany used Tropen ammo, which was ammunition loaded with less propellant for hot enviroments like Africa, so that the guns operated normally. Cold temperatures also cause steel to become less ductile and more prone to shatter, so overmatching shells would have an easier time defeating armor plates.

i know im late, but i guess the reason why shell drops faster in Frozen Pass than in Berlin is because cold air is thicker than hot air. Thicker air means more air resistant, thus making the shell to drop faster

Not sure if it has been said but the England, Wales and NI flags were obtainable during the 2016 euros. Gaijin added the flags of any country that got out of the group stages into a box costing 100k SL. Scotland did not make it out of the group stages and was purchasable for 500 GE on St Andrews day of the same year.

the shell drop is lower on frozen pass when compared to berlin because cold air is denser so the shell encounters more air as it passes ,just wanted to explain :)

Cold ammunition doesn't get as hot when firing. Temperature and humidity effect ballistics. That is why different environments have different range markings.

3:43 this is basically the same situation as with aircraft in real life but at various temperatures and altitudes the air density is different, where being at high altitude will make the shell ballistics worse and lower altitude will make the ballistics better. This is the same way with temperature, where higher temperatures are less dense, while lower temperatures are more dense.

@@fredh1201 actually, the less dense air means the ballistics will still be worse because the Coanda effect will be less profound and the lift generated by the projectile will be reduced.

Different game environments affect shell drop due to temperature affecting shell propellants. At lower temperatures propellants burn at slower rates thus giving the shell an overall lower velocity.

The different shell drop physics is due to temperature. The lower the temperature, the higher the air density and thus higher the drag* making the shell drop more due to a loss of speed/kinetic energy. *drag formula: Fx=0.5*ρ*S*(v^2)*Cx ρ is air density, S the frontal area, v velocity and Cx drag coefficient

7:47 I remember a long time ago I got a unique voice line when I was getting attacked and called artillery which was the commander desperately shouting something like "Requesting artillery on me! I repeat! I need artillery on me!" but I guess they removed that line because I never heard it since.

3:42 My best guess is that colder ammo burns a bit slower, which drops the shell's muzzle velocity slightly, causing shells to drop a little more than normal at the same ranges.

It's more so due to the air pressure/resistance different elevations and weather cause. It's something snipers factor in as well as those of us in the Field Artillery due to the distance rounds are put down range.

3:42 tank shells probably have differing drop in differing game environments, because TL;DR: air resistance is different at different temperatures Full explaination: Shell drop is dependant on the time it takes the shell to reach the target -> Time to reach the target is dependant on the speed of the shell -> Speed of the shell is dependant on the air resistance (the higher the resistancem the faster the speed drops)-> Air resistance is dependant on air density (the higher the density, the more molecules shell has to push out of the way to fly a certain distance, the more kinetic energy (ant thus, speed) it looses doing so)-> Air density depends on the air temperature (stuff expands when you heat it up, and contracts when you cool it down, mixtures of gases are not an excepton to this rule)

You can get the "Target my location!" voiceline by dropping the artillery within a few meters of yourself on the minimap as well, not just using the third person aiming. I think there might even be another voiceline for dropping artillery on yourself saying something like "Artillery on me. Repeat, artillery on me!"

The tank directing artillery on itself. I've heard an urban legend of a disabled KV-2 either in the winter war or the continuation war that was disabled by the finnish and started directing artillery with its radio to ontop of itself.
