Alocasia Bambino Care Tips and Propagation - WITH UPDATES!

The alocasias bambino looks very similar to the amazonica and polly. This species is the tiniest one out of them and has some very striking foliage, which I am not shy about showing detail views in this video. I share the care tips and propagate them in many ways, showing updates at the end of the video. This is a surprisingly easy alocasia and its beauty is often times overlooked. I highly recommend this species for every growers home conditions.

I learned more about propagating alocasias in the first two-thirds of this video alone than I've learned from the countless other videos I've watched on here. Thanks for being so informative and passionate about your plants.

OMG you're a saviour! I was just wondering what to do to my Alocasia portodora because it has grown so much over the years that it's growth point is 20cm over the soil. It's really difficult to find information on what to do when the ...tuber? gets too big for your pots. The answer is right here get to cutting! A wholehearted thank you from Finland

Hi ! I have a question for those who grow Allocasia Bambino Arrow. I bought one two or three weeks ago, and regarding the biggest leaves, the pointed tips are starting to be slightly yellow/ brown, but overall they're fine ; regarding the smallest and the newest leaves, some of them are fully yellow now, and dying. As it's autumn, I only water it every 12 days, but I don't leave the plant's soil dry ; regarding the light, it's a very bright room, and the Allocasia is near a big window thus there's few direct sunlight in the day. Would you think it's a lack of humidity ? Or too much/not enough watering ? Please help me out on this one, love it to much to let it die :) ps : thank you so much for you video I'll follow your advices !!

Wow! This is one of the most successful propagation videos you have done I think 😁. I don't own many alocasias (just 2) because they always die on me, or the leaves turn yellow when a new one appears, and I don't enjoy that behavior haha. But after watching this video you have inspired me to give them a second chance :D
@onlyplants

The trick is to have many clumps in one pot so you can enjoy a thicker foliage. But frequent pruning is to be expected 😀

Yep, its normal few hours after watering. But too much of it is sign of overwatering, it can turn the tips crispy with a bit of yellow line right before the crisp.

I don't know what going on, what do you think? Thank you

I have an alocasia Polly that suffered a terrible accident. I was shaking the plant over a white paper to see if it had spider mites (no spiderites )but the plant broke off. The stem separated from the roots completely 😭 The bulb/corm is intact alongside the stem and the leaves on the stem but it has no roots what should I do now ?
@onlyplants
@onlyplants Год назад
Ive never heard of people shaking plants over white paper for spidermites hehe. You can usually see them on the underside of the leaves. I would treat all alocasias regularly (2-3 months) regardless of spidermites. I would water propagate the top broken off portion. And the lower nodes can form Roots and leaves no problem. Give it high humidity and dont drown it in water

How do you wash the entire plant roots and all before planting in a crested gecko vivarium?
@onlyplants
@onlyplants Год назад
I would soak it in water well mixed with a few drops of soapy water. Bit of neem Oil in the mix would be really good to ensure no spidermites are on the plant. After a few minutes, shake the existing media loose from the roots. Give the plant one last rinse with water before planting it in the vivarium. If you dont treat the alocasia for pests beforehand, it might be difficult to do so once its in the vivarium. Neem oil is natural and is harmless to animals. I highly recommend it. Keep the plant away from bright light for 1 day after treating with neem though.

I also raise a Bambino in a balcony garden and a guppy room at home, but It died grow in the balcony garden a while ago. I think it was because winter in Korea was cold. Bright shade please 😀 they love more light than we think. In lower light they can live but make sure theres good airflow and it doesnt stay wet for long

Hello I have a video titled “onlyplants potting mix” that lists the ingedients and why it was used. You can try to substitute it with ingredients found locally where you are. 😀

I rescued a pretty sad little cuprea from a nursery for 3 dollars. I honestly didn't know if I could save it, but is now holding six pretty leaves and a pair of pups. I'm in western Australia so it's summer / growing season here. Should I break it down like you did in this video while it's actively growing or should I wait? (I know you're in the tropics but we're south enough where they're still affected by seasons) TIA! Love the vids
