Alright: give me your vote. Dalton Highway in Alaska, or Highway 50 in Nevada? Which one would YOU prefer to drive? 😁

I’m always traveling, getting lost on purpose, and Nevada/Utah desert highways and roads always seem to give out a lonely but internal calibrating vibe from all the chaos of busy life. So I’d say the Nevada HwY-50 is for this guy.🚐💨😎👍🏼 Definitely recommend Ash Springs if you’re in that area on your way either east or south of your current location.😊

As a fellow introvert, I can relate. Living in or in your case, moving out to the middle of nowhere is where one can relax and think. You begin to realise civilization with its crowds and conveniences can be too much of a good thing! The wilds of Nevada, with no one around to intrude on your solitude, the loneliness there breeds not anxiety or pangs of regret, but a serene calmness in the soul. Its not something most people would put on their bucket list, but Highway 50 being the world’s second loneliest highway, you definitely see life in a different light once you’ve made its acquaintance. In that respect, Eva, you belong to a very select group of people and I enjoyed your video for that very reason!

I am a native son of Nevada. I love it. The backcountry of the Silver state is wonderful and vast, and holds so many amazing secret places. Most recently I found an arrowhead literally laying within feet of a large piece of Native American pottery. If you pay attention, it is one of the few places left where you can still find places with pottery, arrowheads, and petroglyphs that are seemingly previously undiscovered or publicized.

The heat keeps me out of Nevada. It was 122⁰F last time I was there. In the winter it's cold, windy, and nasty. Never go anywhere where the weather can kill you in less than an hour. In the Southwest you can never turn your back on mother nature.

I experienced that silence just after I moved to Alaska many years ago. Stopped at Birch Lake around midnight in January and the loudest sound was the light from the stars. Only surpassed by the absolute darkness. I had never seen the night sky so BLACK, only lit by so many stars. Like I could feel the expanse of the universe, and the isolation of this tiny planet surrounded by the rest of creation. Most beautiful thing I have ever seen/felt.

I absolutely love a pitch black night sky. For me, nothing beat my time in the navy. After a midwatch I’d go topside and just relax forward, away from the hum of the engines. At night, the ship was blacked out so In the middle of the Pacific Ocean there really isn’t anything but you, the stars, and thousands of miles of ocean in any direction. It is spectacular.

Great video travelogue with your beautiful dog, Duke…. I too appreciate the quiet sounds of nature , that brings to mind a lot of Wordsworths’ poetry…my only question to you, do you miss not having someone to share these adventures with? I have been divorced since ‘83, and in all the “in between” years, some of MY most precious moment, are those that I was able to witness with someone special by my side…I’ve always felt that having someone you love, divides the tough times in life, and doubles the joy in sharing the experience…stay safe, healthy and hopefully someday, find someone to love….

@revolution inevitable I wish I had the insight to document my travels for the last 38 years (2,000,000 road miles). The worst encounter I had was just north of Boise, ID where I was heading to McCall, ID. I was at a stop light and 4 young men in a beat up old Chevy nova going the opposite direction made eye contact with me as we passed the intersection and they pulled a 180 turn and came up behind me. The 4 men were, as we described 30 years ago, skin heads. I'm of Asian descent. I kept driving for another hour and stopped at a gas station to get gas and see if they would stop as well. They did stop but did not get gas nor go into the store. Now I had to make the decision to keep going to McCall, ID or turn back to Boise. I drove back to Boise and luckily they did not follow me.

It's funny but I recently flew to California and through my window seat, I saw some pretty desolate desert terrain, and periodically I would see little communities out in the middle of nowhere and I wondered about the people who lived there, wondered about their hopes and dreams, etc. I grew up in the jungles of south east Asia but when I first laid eyes on my desert in the southwest region on the United States, I knew I was home. The wide open skies, the vistas, the desolate mountains that surround me on all sides, it was love at first sight. I call it home now. The landscape is awe inspiring and demands respect. ❤️ Thank you for taking me along on your detour. 😍👏❤️

The Loneliest Road in America was a trip I made from Sacramento CA to Lake Powell (UT and AZ) about 10 years ago. Loved it. You could easily step where no human has stepped before. Look down and watch for cool rocks, minerals, fossils and perhaps arrowheads. A prospector in the early 1900's set out from Austin NV headed south and found a very large gold deposit searching for his mule lost in a windstorm...what became Goldfield NV.

The Pony Express/ Butterfield station west of Austin NV Is worth a look. A stroll through Fallons old main street is also a must see for an all American town. After travelling extensively in the Western Australian outback, this part of Northern Nevada is a welcomed sight for the big openness.

As an adult I'm always using my free time to chat with people, but then return to my home alone and very happy in the solotude I've kept greedily for myself. Half of my life is a busy job on the phone all day, with fun and smart coworkers that I'm sure will be my friends after I leave and the other half is solitude, sleeping in back of the jeep on a summers night away from others or checking into an inexpensive but quiet hotel. Happier, stronger, and more self sufficient.

I mentioned to the husband bar tender how cool I thought the bar looked and he told the full history of how the bar came from England, was in SF for the gold rush and wound up in Austin. I've never been to Alaska yet, but I've lived a lot of my life on Highway 50, the Loneliest Highway in America. Something about the solitude and quiet that I absolutely LOVE and miss now that I don't live there any longer. It is a lifestyle all its own to live and become accustomed to being alone out there. I grew up farming/ranching on highway 50 and we even drove our 3,000 sheep over 100 miles along that highway to their 'winter ground'. What a perfect way to grow up! It is definitely a beautiful place and a large part of that is being alone where you can contemplate everything about life.

You will never be alone because with your RU-vid expertise you can SHARE your life on the road. SHARE is one of the most important words in the English language. I'm 76 now. I met my wife in High School and we were married for 52 years. She's gone now. She is with all her Cherokee ancestors. We used to travel a lot and that highway looked so wonderful. It brought bac a simpler life (after kids). But here in St. Louis, Mo., well I guess it's gotten so comfortable. But with no one to share with, I can at least pretend. I don't really envy you, because that feels a little rude. You are a beautiful person and I wish you all the best of everything. God Bless and keep you safe.

Awesome video. I work in Ridgecrest California, one of the loneliest and most isolated towns in the South West. It's all desert, rock, sand, shrubs but still beautiful. I just took a 30 minute drive to the Easter slopes of the Sierras and checked out the snow. Even though the landscape looks like "nothing", there are a million things to see.

Around 50 years ago, in the hours just before a Thanksgiving feast, I walked up a silent mountainside in eastern Washington State. After a while, I sat down under a ponderosa pine and enjoyed the stillness; and within that, I distinctly heard the sound of breathing. In, out. And being that I could see a considerable distance in all directions, I realized that the only living thing nearby was...the pine tree. All of Nature is breathing if one practices unconditioned listening.

One of my most vivid memories was staying at a lodge of sorts near Silver Falls state park in Oregon. I was with a rowdy bunch of teens and I was one of them. Somehow I was alone and walked up a foothill near the group camping area late evening in a treeless area. It was very quiet. No wind, no motors, no birds, no people. After more than 20 minutes of walking or climbing I stopped and looked around and listened very carefully. Very peaceful. Three people were walking along the driveway to the camp area and talking normally. I heard every word! And their footsteps on the asphalt road! They were more than a mile away. Supremely happy for this moment of solitude. I wish I had shared it with more people....

You're traveling the West the right way. I see so many tourists out here running like crazy to hit the major attractions and national parks, stressed out beyond belief due to the distances and times (and often crowds) involved. Just taking your time and exploring out of the way attractions is by far the best way to do it. And good work on reaching the Salt Flats at a time when you can drive on them! Definitely not always the case.

They are the ones driving their carts like they are on the Santa Ana Freeway through the store and rushing up behind me to make a pass with their cart. They are in a constant state of "hurry" and "rush". They haven't relaxed yet, even though they are in a place that is totally relaxed already. NUMBERS A TO Z Learning the truth can be a painful process, especially when it has been hidden from you your whole life. If the world you thought you were living in proves to be based on deception, the truth can seem unbelievable, bizarre. It is made even worse, when it involves people you respected, leaders you voted for, people you trusted. At first there is disbelieve, then disorientation, then outrage over the betrayal, combined perhaps with fear and then sadness, etc. Each person has their own process of waking and goes at their own pace. But coming to terms with unwanted truth is part of the process of awakening and it is often the shocking and emotionally difficult part. However, on the other side of this process of “awakening” is a stable foundation where we will rapidly rebuild a new, safer, more prosperous and more peaceful reality for ourselves, our children and yes, even the greater world. I am number “B”. Why do you hate the message? Brain washed? & programmed? A:- The surface of non-moving liquid is always flat & level, always. B:- Do not kill the messenger, if you hate the message. C:- Fill your bottle to half with liquid, turn the bottle at all angles & look at the surface of this liquid. D:- If man and woman can not live on this liquid, together. Then it is a waste of time talking about this liquid. E:- How does liquid bend around your planet. ANS=GRAVITY. ONLY ON A SCREEN. F:- Watch shipping container ships travel around the world. G:- At the equator, your planet spins at average of 980miles an hour, West to East. H:- The top speed of a passenger plane is 550miles an hour. I:- If a passenger plane was flying West to East at the equator. What would be the numbers. J:- Equator spin = 980m/h plane speed = 550m/h 980-550=430m/h. K:- 430m/h Equator spins faster then a passenger plane can fly? L:- Airport runways face North to South, South to North, East to West, West to East. M:- How many inches per second does your planet’s runways move? N:- “You can lead a horse to water but you can not make him drink!” O:- “You can give people information but you can not make them look at it!” TOC P:- Always remember, “It’s not what you know. It’s what you can prove!” Q:- "Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance”. R:- “The ultimate ignorance is the rejection of something you know nothing about, yet refuse to INVESTIGATE”. S:- “It’s easier to fool people, then it is to convince them that they have been fooled.” MARK TWAIN. T:- People of earth are dumb, they will believe anything we tell them. U:- People, who live in Australia, are dumber(dumbest) they believe they live upside down on the side of a sphere with water magically stuck to it. V:- Can people see a boat go over the curve from the beach? W:- How high off the ground do you need to be to see the curve of your planet? X:- How high has humans traveled in space?
