I have watched every season of Alone and love how competitive this season has been. There is no clear "front runner" who took down some large animal (deer, musk ox or elk) and is way ahead of the calorie game. The last 3 or 4 contestants are all sort of in the same "calorie" boat, with very limited success at obtaining food.

Awesome review as always! I made 2 arrows out there. Lost one on a grouse tree shot but that’s what it was made for! I felt very fortunate to have had that much moss on my site and I used rolled moss as “bricks” which I held together with thumb thick sticks stabbed in there like a matrix. That was about 1.5-2ft thick all around and then a bow exterior on top of that. What that didn’t show is the mini shelter just above my bed (which was like a hammock tent setup). I’ll be making a video on it :)

It’s such a shame that a lot of footage is cut out. Would love to have an extended cut of all seasons to include more content. Seems they could at least upload to RU-vid for views and advertisement for the show and help cultivate the community. All that money and production to make it happen and it’s lost to the abyss

Love hearing your insights as usual! Personally, I am enjoying this season probably because I have been following RU-vid channels where I feel I have gotten to know the contestants better. Listened to you on the Woodside podcast while I was waiting to be able to watch this episode on the Discovery Channel app. It was just great, I'm also really enjoying following Liz's channel and getting to know her. You two seem like the perfect match ♥️♥️ I am totally envious of the lifestyle your family enjoys!

They show making a snow angel, or throwing a snowball, or someone dressing goofy like a bird but cut out a lot of survival stuff?????????????????

As to the cob stove--she waited way too long to start on it, first off. It was too cold, and she was too hurried, so she didn't bother to process the sand out of the dirt leaving just clay behind. There was way too much sand in her mix, and it looked like there was barely any clay in the dirt she was scooping up from her floor. That late in the year it would have been simpler to make a very small stone fireplace instead, I think.

Clay! My 2 y/o daughter was imitating your hands while we watched this video. It was so cute but it also made me realize how much you talk with your hands. It's a great trait and an excellent way of communicating. Really enjoying your recaps, thanks for making them I know it's a lot more work than it seems.

You going in depth about not bothering to maintain a fire to warm your shelter is really insightful and can really help someone out if they find themselves in a similar situation. Thank you for the content 🤙

This is definitly an interesting season. I have no idea who I think is gonna win. The edit has definitly been intentionally messing with us. It seems like this could be a pretty short season, but for all we know these last 3 could go another 15-20+ days. Great analysis as always, thanks Clay!

The attitudes this season are inspirational. I love everyone's overall outlook about their journey. My concern for Juan is his core temperature. They have made a big deal of all the ice-cold water he is drinking and not having a fire. It may seem very planned out, but we all know about the best laid plans. I see him getting pulled for medical reasons. Unfortunately, the scenes for next week, shows the emergency responders moving uphill. The only one I have seen going uphill consistently is the good Doctor. I am afraid he is going to get hurt as the show has focused on his confusion and balance. I see Karie winning the whole thing. Even though the previews show her saying her heart is beating "so fast". she is smiling. I think she may have a polar bear encounter. I am probably completely wrong lol. Out of 9 seasons, I have only picked 3 winners. Sam (reunion show), Roland and you. Thanks for the recap and insight.

I called Jordan Jonas, Roland, and You early on as winners. (I Was wrong about Fowler). This season I called Teimojin as my best bet early on…. I’m not changing that, but I think I’m wrong now. I’ll be disappointed if this is a med evac win, but looks like it could be…. And I don’t think Teimojin or Karie Lee is going to out weigh Juan Pablo. That is a valid and fair strategy though, and Juan Pablo has been very strategic. His mental fortitude is clearly off the charts (in a good way).

I agree on the gaiters. I didn’t have them on my first Western hunt, never again. Greenhorn mistake! Now they go every trip, wether calling for snow or not. Also great in the wet vegetation. I missed the primitive arrow, good catch. I’m still going with Teimojin. Lol

Not to be a spoiler, but did anyone see the preview of “Alone Frozen” where six previous winners of Alone are being asked to participate in a “dead of winter” competition. I thought I saw a glimpse of Juan Pablo! Hmm?

I'm surprised they have three contestants still in with only one episode to go! Hopefully they get all insulated because the end game is among us!

what you can do is if you have the right type of boot, tuck the snow pant under the boot. I do not wear the right boot like my dad had for years before he gave up trying to do that, nor do I wear winter gaiters. Instead, if I ever have this issue of wet snow pants and I do not have a way to keep the snow pants from being stiff very well I would at night use the snow pants folded in half leg to leg as a mattress under me at night.

Clay, I am a subscriber and have your book. I have watched about every video you have made. So I am a fan. However, you have now twice stated that the next episode will probably be the last, and you introduced a book by Juan Pablo last week. The average fan of the show would put two and two together and believe next week is the final episode and Juan Pablo wins (because he wrote a book timed to come out by the end of the season). Last year half way through the season someone posted that a relative of yours stated that you won. Both of these seasons have had input that I wish they had not had. But I am, and will continue to be a fan !!

The straw is also meant to enforce against vapor explosions, with it, the steam has places to go, without it heating too fast will send the clay flying, with a loud bang...

Big props to you on your win of the alone tv show and I actually told my wife when I was watching the episode that you ended up getting the deer that there wasn’t a chance anyone else would take the victory you were the only participant in your season that ended up with a substantial food source

If your plan is to fast then you should be disqualified. If they allow it then there's just gonna be obese people sleeping all day and only filming themselves drinking water..it'll destroy this show. I don't even see how being inactive and not filming is even aloud. This is the weakest season. The location doesn't allow fish nets and their large game is bear..so it's just singing and shooting squirrels. Is it the toughest season yet? I don't know...but it seems like it'll be the shortest. Also, I was really wanting to see how well that giant fortress shelter and Kerie's shelter handled a rain, but I guess they lucked out. I actually saw Timojin this episode walk by an arrow stuck in the ground. haha

Pretty certain Teimojin Tan is going to win. I've been calling that for a while, and here he is still left. Trained in cold wild Survival, Plus a Doctor (Training and did his residency in the USA, so that's no Joke), that's quite some knowledge that guy is carrying around. I read he's only 31 too, what a young age to accomplish everything he has. From sleeping in his car to having quite the bank roll. It's crazy that just a family medicine Doctor at a big Hospital Chain makes 250k to 250k per year. That doesn't include profit sharing for some, stock options, high 401k matching. All those years of studying pay off. My personal Dr got her a scholarship for med school and there was one dependency. After finishing their residency, she had to work in a low-income area where most people didn't have insurance. And here all this time I thought her family had them Benjamins... That one guy is going to tap out from fasting probably and not sure what the downfall will be of the last lady with her Cranberry Fruit Roll Ups is going to be , maybe from messing with her Chimney too much. This hasn't been the most exciting season in my opinion, I don't know why. It sure went by fast. I'd like to see their pre-show As one of the other commenters mentions. There is another show starting that's in the works where they are bringing the winners on from the previous seasons and it's some sort of competition, but I don't know what the format is exactly. I forgot the name and when it starts, but it should be on History Chanel. If you know, comment below please! I wonder if someone really died on the show, if that would be the end of it. Like someone got taken out by a Polar Bear. Props to Les Stroud 'Survivor Man' for being the one who started all this out, but I don't even think he'd beat all these true & great survivalists. With the invention of all these high-end cameras, especially how amazing Go Pros are and Drones are, the footage you can get is amazing. Like some of the B-Roll shots they get from a drone instead of needing a helicopter. What a change in Budget.... Even in Agriculture, they are using Drones. DGI sells a 20k drone that lets you put liquid in it and drop it over any area you want. Imagine getting a good enough speed and flying straight and then dropping that slowly, you'd get a nice even coating of the pesticides we eat and get bad medical problems from.... A couple weeks ago there was an explosion at Space-X on one of the new boosters for their new Starship Rocket. One of the companies that goes out and films their operations, caught them filling up the drone with a liquid and flying out towards the explosion. Normally I wouldn't think they'd care, but maybe they were trying to cool the device that had the booster records of it on the drive. Cheers my friends. I hope the Finale is 2 hours! I don't think that Juan is acting wisely by fasting plus drinking untreated water. He says he has immunised himself in the past by drinking tainted water... but the AMOUNT of untreated water that he is drinking is what might be his undoing.

I have a question. How do you get the extra clothing they let you take? Some people can barely pack their ten items in their packs and no room for clothing and boots. I never see a duffel when contestants were dropped off on the beach. Only a pack and the pelican case. So how do you take your clothes?

I NEVER understand why people on this show take SO DAMN LONG to make their PERMANENT shelters! It drives me fucking nuts!! The permanent shelter needs to be recon'd and 90% completed ASAP (easily within the first 2 weeks). Yes, hunting/food and water need to be gathered as well, but season after season we see people with shitty shelters 30, 40, 50 days into this and then they crash! We see them on Day 50 making improvements to their shelters that SHOULD have been done on Day 3! NOW they are tired, weak and not functioning well mentally. These people KNOW that this is not a sprint, it's a marathon. When Roland (no offense to the other contestants) built "the stone house", he did this EARLY ON when he was his fattest, healthiest, and strongest that he was going to be. Between moving the stones and his mud stove, this house was strong enough to be found 1,000 years from now by archeologists!! THIS is when someone should be concentrating on making a shelter like his or Woniya's with her double-walled construction.

Hey just curious, in season 8 you didn't take a tarp but looks like you had a tarp in the first rain in episode 1. Did they give ya'll tarps?

I think Juan Pablo will try ice fishing to break his fast. It’s the reason for the ice chisel. I really hope to see him succeed at that. There’s been a few people successful at ice fishing on Alone but they stopped because of cold winds. I believe it was Jordan and Woniya. I wonder if building a portable wind block would have been worth it.

So when you were applying for the show did you have to pay $447.00 for the application process? I was applying myself and live paycheck to paycheck and I can't afford to be scammed out of that kind of money.

Are there not ways to collect nuts and seeds to process into candle burning material for some extra light when it starts getting super dark?

None of the contestants are thriving. They are all in starvation mode. Site locations were poorly chosen to provide enough food to survive.

As people tap out are they prevented from going home so no leaks occur? I hope other contestants get decent money based on how long they stay? No right to do all that suffering and get nothing.

Most boring season so far, if it wasn't for the bow hunting , i probably wouldn't watch it anymore

Since everything has already happened, do they just have a very severe non disclosure agreement that even the first quitters aren't willing to defy? Because it seems like some of those would do it based on how people act now. Getting another 15mins of fame for being a leaker.

You had a minus 40 sleeping bag, it only got down to zero but you used a hot rock? Why? I'd have to sleep nude in a minus 40 bag at zero degrees.

In the beginning of the season everyone made a big deal of wanting to shoot a bear. How likely is it that someone can kill a bear with the kind of bows that they are carrying? Isn’t there a big chance that the bear will charge you .

This is only my Guess! Carry Le is going to win this Fake season. The Spoilers for next episode, where she said ad the end "My Heard is Pumping". Was not about a Medical issue. It was the scene they told here she won. I might be wrong. But i get how Entertainment works after 30 years, of it. They can not even Cut it right without spoiling the hole Story, as we see in 98% of all Modern Movies.
