There definitely is a lot of flexibility in terms of lens compatibility across the line which comes in handy but I have never tried AF-S lenses on my F-401. That could be an interesting experiment. Thanks for sharing the video.
Thank you Alex for another excellent video. I've been a Nikon user for some fifty years and have just found that their is still much to learn, thanks to your work. Regarding the E series, I have a 50mm F/1.8 Nikkoor, rather cheap and 'plasticy' but not marked 'E'. It is very light and compact and in practice produces excellent results and I use it frequently. I wonder if you have ever come across such a lens or anything similar..
I know the lens! That is an AI-S Nikkor, not a Series E, amazing pancake lens I had one and passed it along to a friend with an FM! Thanks for the kind words and for watching 🍻
My favourite Nikkor lenses are my 50mm f/1.8 AIS longnose and my AF Nikkor 24-120mm f/3.5-5.6 D. The 50mm longnose is a beautiful lens especially for portraits on a DX camera. The 24-120 may not be the best lens mid range zoom, but it is my favourite walk about lens. It is at home on my Nikon DSLR's as it is my Nikon F801s, called the N8008s in the states, the semi pro camera below the F4. There are better Nikon auto focus film cameras, but they also command a higher price.
