@@jamesfox2412 It’s average price $30.00. Works great. My wife and daughter can turn it all the way down when they ride in my Dodge Durango. The unit is made of metal unlike the Fosgate one, plastic.
Those birth sheets are suspect. There's evidence they are mass-produced. I've see your 851 figure many times. There's no doubt they put out at least rated power, and are reliable. But those birth sheets aren't aligning with the amp dynos (look at the Williston Audio Labs vid, for instance), and we're seeing things like in your instance where the exact same result is being reported for multiple amps, down to the very watt, which is suspicious.
I have two of those amps one for my car and one for my wife's. I have it paired with a Type S in a sealed box and the gain is only at half so I bought a Type R in a 1.75 ported box for my wife's car and went about 80% with the amp gain. It's not that the Type S is a bad sub but it's that the SA60M is thet powerful. A total sleeper for its size. Both subs are wired to 2 ohm
@@crutchfield she likes a lot compared to my Type S because it digs a lot lower in the ported box that's tuned to 36hz and I could give it a lot more gain. This amp doesn't have a subsonic filter on it, should I be worried? I tried buying the FMod inline crossovers but it introduced noise. Without them it sounds great though. I like sealed myself because it sounds tighter and you don't have to worry about a subsonic filter. I can attest to that little amp being powerful at 2 ohms and not generating much heat compared to the old A/B.
Thinking of buying this because a kicker cxa800.1 that I have is broken and the local repair shop has been unable to repair it and another repair professional that I follow on you tube said, I could send it to him and he would look it over but doesn’t have high hood he could get it working because kickers are particularly hard to repair and because someone else has already messed with it. So here I amp looking up review before buying something.
Can somebody clarify for me? I am looking to install this amp on my factory stereo and if I buy a speaker wire to rca adaptor I won’t need a remote cable?
This amplifier is an excellent match for those subs! If you wire those two subs into 2 ohms at the amplifier level, each will get 300 watts RMS, which is perfect. 😀
You are not able to connect a second sub to this Alpine amp. Alpine does make an amp that can power two of those subs. It is the S2-A120M amp shown here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_500S2A120M/item.html
Not too sure about testing every amp because I've been looking through reviews after reviews and everybody's even the one I own, the birth certificate says 851 and it's struggling to power two s-w10d4's....
That it kind of what we would expect. Two S-W10D4 subs can be wired together to either a 4 ohm or a 1 ohm load for an amp. This amp is not 1 ohm stable and is only expected to output close to half of the top RMS watts. That means it should output around 425-450 watts RMS at 4 ohms or 212-225 watts RMS per subwoofer. That is not even half of the top RMS watts that each of those 10" subs can handle. Swapping the subs for the S-W10D2 model will cause the amp to output its 2 ohm watts which appears to be 851 watts and a big change in performance. We recommend exchanging the subs to the D2 model for a better match
I got this amp but it over heats after a while and I have 2 subs that run 300 rms each I thought this would do the job but didn’t and I bought it off crutchfield
The Alpine S-A60M amplifier is capable of delivering 600 watts RMS at 2ohm, which should be plenty of power to your subwoofers if you are introducing a 2ohm load to the amp If you purchased this amp from Crutchfield, please locate the contact information for technical support by logging into your online Crutchfield account, and accessing the My Orders tab. Please have your order number handy when calling.
how do you have the subs set up parallel or series? shouldn't be getting hot unless its wired less then 1 ohm. imo. if I read the comments I have mine pushing 1 10 and 1 12 no problem. both wired out the 1 terminal into 2 separate subs
@@vortecfabian9104 turn down the gain a lil bit. have you tried new fuses? or swapping them? I'm kind of puzzled on this scenario it could just be the 1 outta every 100 that is just faulty. if all else fails id sent it back to Crutchfield but alpine might be faster on responding. I hope it gets resolved I know how it is with out bass.
Hi Nathaniel, the Alpine S-A60M will match your subs well; but we no longer have it available. The Alpine S2-A60M replaces it here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc921/p_500S2A60M/item.html
I have a 8” jl audio sub That I wanted to Power up. could I use this amp for that? I was thinking of connecting it to my pioneer amp I already have in the car now.
That I do not know. Alpine does not even show it on their site. They just show the RMS watts it outputs and the ohms at which it outputs that power to help match it to subwoofers. You might try giving them a call on 800-257-4631 to find out
I just got this amp. Having issues with getting the target output voltage for a 300w JL10tw4-1 with a AC LCi2 Pro set at 4vac as the input to the amp. I cant get the voltage to change much or get past 28vac
Hi. Just bought the Alpine S2-A60M. I was wondering, I have a Rockford Fosgate sub box loaded with 2 12" P3's. It says 1200 RMS 2400 peak watts @1 ohm. Will this amp work for me? Thanks
The subwoofers can be powered by an amp that outputs less than the 1200 watts RMS they can handle. So, that Alpine amp can work. Its also worth mentioning that we recommend giving drivers, including subwoofers, at least 70% of their top RMS watts for the optimal performance and recommend using an amp that outputs at least 840 watts RMS at 1 ohm.
It is not very likely that a capacitor would be needed with a 600 watt RMS amp like this Alpine model. That being said, if you were to install this amp and notice your lights dim at night when the bass gets really intense, then a capacitor would help prevent that diming
Hi Jose! We can recommend a better amp match for you. How many subs are you using? What is the RMS power rating per sub? How many voice coils does each sub have? What is the impedance per coil?
So I just bought this amp. I have another Alpine amp running my speakers. If I go from my amp outputs into the mono block inputs, will it turn my amp on?
With your Alpine Optim8 amp it has some flexibility with turn-on features. An Acc wire on the 20-pin input harness can be connected to ignition or switched +12V for activating the processor/amplifier. A Host/Acc switch gets set to Acc when using the Acc wire for activation. When set to Host, the PXE-C80-88 can be activated using the speaker-level inputs to trigger it. A Remote Out is provided for activating additional amplifiers. I hope this helps!
Hooked all mine up and turned the gain down and it still occasionally blue light blinks and cuts out! Trying to figure out what the issue is. It's all hooked up correctly but turned up halfway or more it cuts out and blue light blinks
Gracias por su comentario. Si, tus Alpine W10S4 necesita un total de 500 watts a 2 omios, con este amplificador de Alpine S-A60M si te los va mover bien. Gracias, Alana ext. 3246
This amp is not built to power that gear. We may have one that can and need the details on the mid bass drivers, tweeters, and the 10" subwoofer. Which brand and models are you referring to?
I hate to be another one of these people, but I just recently got into subs… is this a good amp for a 10in kicker comp c that puts out 300 watts rms at 4 ohms ? I know this amp is 330 watts at 4ohms but would that 30 watt difference be bad for the sub ? Sorry for the dumb question but hopefully you can respond 🙏
While some people do prefer having an amp that's rated slightly stronger than the power rating of the sub to provide some extra "headroom", it can still be a bit risky and could damage the sub. If you went that route, you would have to be very careful when setting the amp's gain control to avoid distortion. Here's a good article on our site that addresses properly tuning your amp: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc928/S-HkAscBdQhUR/learn/car/subwoofers/tuning.html Or another great amp option that delivers 300 watts RMS at 4-ohms is this Kicker model: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc928/p_20646CX81T/Kicker-46CXA800-1T.html
Hi, Jeremy! Nice sub, for sure! If running a single one of those Pioneer subs wired in parallel to a 2-ohm load, this amp is a nice match and right at the 600 watts RMS that the sub likes to sound its best. Give one of our advisors a shout if you need to pull together installation gear for the setup: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc313/support/ContactUs.aspx
You need to wire the two Alpine SWT-10S2 for a 1 or 4-ohm load, so this amp is not a good match. The Alpine R2-A150M is the perfect match since you can wire it for 700 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc921/p_500R2A150M/item.html
We have many subwoofer options that will work with this amp. Do you already have an enclosure you plan to use? What vehicle will you be installing this in?
Hi Gary, The Alpine S-A60M will be underpowering the Alpine R-W12D4, by about 150 watts RMS. Using something with a little more power will improve your sound quality and provide the sub with a more optimal operational environment. If you're an Alpine fan, the Alpine R-A75M R-Series amp would be a great amp for your sub. www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc164/p_500RA75M/Alpine-R-A75M.html?tp=35834 Feel free to chat with us online or by phone, if you'd like to discuss this amp, or any other solutions! www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc164/contact
Hi Gary! We only offer specs and information based on what the manufacturer of any amplifier or product. Alpine does state that the Alpine S-A60M amplifier delivers 330 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms, and 600 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms.
So how did it work out? I just bought the exact same setup with this amp since most comments said it tests at 850w rms. Just hoping i didnt buy the wrong amp lol
That's the input level switch on the amp. When connecting the amp to an aftermarket head unit with RCA preamp outputs, you would use the "Low" setting. When using the amp's speaker-level input capability to connect it to a factory stereo, you would select the "Hi" setting on the amp.
Yes, this model, and the current S2-A60M model, will sound better thanks to both an improved control of the subwoofer's return to resting position movement and ability to output more watts (used with better subs).
We do not recommend using this amp with your subwoofer. The amp will output 100 watts RMS more than the top RMS watts the sub can handle. An amp like the MTX THUNDER500.1 model is a much better match for the subwoofer: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc227/p_236THND5K1/item.html
Hi Quinton! The Alpine S-A60M is going to deliver 600 watts RMS at a 2ohm load, so this amp may not be the best amplifier to work with for your application. Please feel free to chat with us online or by phone. We will be happy to check out other mono-block amps that would supply your Skar Audio subwoofer, optimal power! www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc164/contact
Would the alpine 600 rms handle two 12” alpine subwoofer that rates 750 rms each or would I need two amplifiers? And also does that amplifier good to be under the car Seat without overheating or going into protective mode
We recommend giving subwoofers at least 70% of their top RMS watts. This amp should only be used to power one 750 watt RMS subwoofer. We want the heat to be able to be pulled away for the amp using its heat sinks. Nothing should sit right on top of the amp. As long as that can be done under the seat, then it is ok to be installed there.
This amp outputs a little more power and has a bit better damping factor (ability to control the return movement of the subwoofer cone for even more accurately produced bass). Their audio controls and settings are identical. Can your subs handle the extra watts? If they can, it is worth the upgrade
Hi would this paire OK with a standard head unit in a 2016 corsa I just want a better sound system new speakers etc but don't really want to change the interlink face.
Sure. Since you plan to add more than one amp, a multi-channel line output converter will work best. That taps in speaker-level for signal using the factory radio. You'll run RCAs from it to the new amps. The AudioControl LC6i is an excellent choice here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc921/p_161LC6IB/item.html
Thinking about running this amp on some Memphis 10s specifically the prx1024 the are 300 rms each but I’m running them in parallel would this be enough for them?
It sounds like you would have a pair of the Memphis Audio PRX1024 and they would be wired in parallel. They can work very well with this amp as long when each sub is set to the 4 ohm resistance
There are a lot of subwoofers that will work with it. Any subwoofer that can present a 4 ohm load to the amp and handle around 350 watts RMS will work and so will subwoofers that present a 2 ohm load to the amp and handle around 600 watts RMS. We have advisors that can give you a personal recommendation on a subwoofer to use with it that will meet any other goals you have. @@camerondru5205 I'm puzzled because its rated at 500 Watts per voice coil, but there's all these people on videos, and forums feeding them 1000 Watts plus from mono amps.
They do offer comparable power actually. This Alpine is an older model and no longer available; but we can do the Sony XM-GS100: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYALc921/p_158XMGS100/item.html
I want to do 2 alpine 10"-S in the halo enclosures is this the ideal amp I need? Do I need 1 amp for each halo? Is the LC7i capable of running 2 of these amps and a 4 channel amp?
ideally, you would have two of these amps. one for each subwoofer. The amplifier has a pre-amp output, so you could use the signal from the Lc7i to the first amp, then connect the second amp to the first. This would give the same processed signal to each amp, and perfectly power each sub.
That subwoofer cannot be wired to a 4 ohm load for the amp. It's a dual voice coil 4 ohm subwoofer that can be wired to either an 8 ohm load for an amp or a 2 ohm load. Luckily, wiring it to a 2 ohm load makes it a perfect match for this amp!
Will this power the new Alpine Type R that comes in the linkable box? I’m just getting one but may end up getting another and linking them together in a few years. I know this amp isn’t powerful enough for 2 but will it run one? I’m car audio dumb so looking for advise from someone that’s in the know.
If you are referring to the Alpine RUX-H01 Halo bass knob, that knob is compatible with the Alpine S-A60M amplifier. Here is a link for reference to that particular bass knob. www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc164/p_500RUXH01/Alpine-RUX-H01.html
The Alpine S-A60M cannot be strapped. You can use the preamp output on the Alpine S-A60M to send signal to another amplifier only. You would need an amplifier, such as the Focal FDP 1.2000, which does support a strapped configuration. www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc164/p_091FDP1200/Focal-FDP-1-2000.html?tp=35834
@Crutchfield would this amp be alright for 2 alpine E-10 series subs.Im looking for a amp that i can use with my 2 10s and be able to upgrade my subs to 2 10" alpine S series in the future.I do realize its 100 rms more than needed but i dont plan on cranking gain or volume to much.I just want more than the 190 rms my Pioneer GM-A3702 puts out. I just bought my amp Crutchfield and i have a dual 10" sealed box on its way now. Thanks
I see that your still replying to comments, so I hope you see this one! I was scrolling down and someone asked if this amp was a good pair with dual 12" alpine s 2 ohm subs and you said no because this amp provides 600w rms but the 2 want 1200w rms together, if I attached the ground of both subs together and the positive of both subs together as one and plugged it into the amp, would that technically deliver 600w rms to each sub? Therefore giving them the power they want? Or is that not how electrical power works? Thanks!
this Focal amp would deliver 500 Watts to each of those subs. you would wire the parallel, parallel to get a final impedance of 1-ohm. www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTBc174/p_091FPX1100/Focal-FPX-1-1000.html?tp=35834

That is not a great match up. Each of those subs are wanting 600 watts RMS. two of them wired to 2-ohms could handle 1200 watts RMS total. This amp would deliver half of the power they could handle.

There is a very good chance that the Alpine Power Pack amp can power your speakers. Lets check! Which model Memphis speakers did you install in your vehicle? The Alpine S-A60M amp shown in this video is definitely built for powering a subwoofer system. We need to make sure the sub/subs are a good match for the amp. We can check for Alpine models that match
It should i just bought a type r 12” and this amp. The sub pushes up to 750w rms and most people who got this amp say that this amp tests as high as 850w rms. You will need one amp for each sub tho...
this would be a decent amp to push a single Alpine type R 12, with dual 4 -ohm voice coils. it wouldnt give it the full 750 watts RMS, but it would give it 600 watts RMS.
Hi Hermes. The L5s have been terrific subs over the years! What is the RMS power rating for your sub? How many voice coils does it have? What is the impedance per coil?
