DId I hear you say they wouldn't work with the Upgraded Alpine system ?? I watched another video and this person did this upgrade with an existing Alpine system and they worked perfect !!!
They won't be a simple plug-and-play install if you've got the Factory Alpine Premium Audio System using the factory style connector. The factory premium system has outputs matched and crossed over for the factory speakers. It's not that the SPV-65-JLT's won't "work", but they will not be receiving the full signal to deliver the best sound. You could install these into a premium system if you're willing to run some custom wiring in your Jeep. It would be best to contact Alpine directly for more assistance if you're looking to complete that setup.
Because stock is open I'm guessing polyfill would not work well with the factory set up? Looking to upgrade atm but still deciding between this kit and the kicker kit
Are these only for the gladiator? I have a Sahara and would really like better sound. Before this vehicle I had a 14 Grand Cherokee Laredo and had no problems with the sound. It's almost as though FIAT is like... Yeah we know we put crap equipment in Wrangler's and you'll just put aftermarket in. For as much as they cost you'd think they'd actually put some quality stuff in.
Yeah, that kinda pisses me off. I paid for the upgraded system from the factory. The sound bar speakers have blown. And now you’re telling me there’s an upgrade available not compatible with my already “upgraded” system from the same company?
It looks like there's 2 factory speaker plug wires. Do you only use one to the alpine spv speakers? And if so, does it matter which factory speaker plug wire?
@@kn19kn19 If you have the upgraded alpine system, you will need to use both wires. Check out a couple reviews on this speaker at crutchfield they have this explained there.
@@eli8375 I installed these in my wife’s Jeep a few months ago but was super easy. Just use the connector that fits the speaker and tuck the other one up inside the cavity behind the new speakers
My 2021 JLU has Uconnect® 4 with a 7-Inch Display. In this video, you removed the OEM sound bar speakers which had TWO connectors, but the Alpine replacement speakers only have ONE connector. Which connector do you use, and what happens to the other connector?
The 2 connectors are different, only one will correctly plug into the Alpine speakers. The other just gets tucked up into the sound bar and is not used.
You may want to fix your website as it says "They can be installed in any two or four-door, regardless of trim level or sound package." But installation instructions say not on OEM alpine systems. Very misleading.
So if I buy the insane audio head unit, what do you recommend for a sub setup (I don’t want the alpine) and an amp and what about front speakers? I’ve never done anything with car audio
It looks like Rob was installing them into a Alpine Premium Sound Gladiator, not a basic system. I think that the reason that they are not compatible with the amplified premium system is because the two speakers that you remove are already pre-crossed over and you wont get the full sound to Alpine speakers once you connect the factory wiring harness.
@@chaveztruz Rob's Gladiator that he installed the SPV-65-JLT speakers into has the basic sound system. He specifically ordered it that was, because he knew he would be upgrading the audio system in his Jeep.
Daniel, Miguel was correct as to the reason these are not compatible with the Premium Sound System with the subwoofer.
@@Quadratec - Can we get clarification. at 2:34 Rob says "you can make these speakers sound even better using the alpine pss-23 wra powered subwooofer. So if you PURCHASED the jeep with ALPINE premium it's not compatable..however if you upgraded later with the PSS-wra the wiring would still work? Asking as I'm exactly at this point....before I cut I want to ensure all is good. Guessing also Rob is plugging into the 'tweeter' plug...what exactly is happening with the old 4" speaker connection? Thanks!
i see alot of sound enthusiasts doing away with the sound bar alltogether. from videos that ive seen. they say the sound placement is horrible if trying to get something to sound good, and not just loud
The easiest way to tell is if you've got the subwoofer in your Jeep, you have the premium audio system. It's in the back of the Wrangler and behind the rear seat in a Gladiator.
The speakers should be worth max 200 bucks. 499 for a pair is ridiculous. Pricing for jeep aftermarket is getting retarded. You have to spend 5k+ to do a full replacement and that's installing it yourself.. I'd rather buy a motorcycle /jet ski/ boat or other toys for that money. I'd spend a max of 400.bucks for a whole update on speakers they should have a proper package under that price.
Remove the sound bar and focus on doors and dash speakers. Anything you can purchase at Best Buy... stay away from that stuff too. Currently nobody makes an affordable head unit for the 18+ mopar so you’re kind of at a standstill. $1000 for a radio replacement is just ridiculous.
Just added these today. Ewwwww dont waist your money. Looks good... Yeah i got Alpine speakers. 😂Thats all. Dont touch the sound performance of factory on my JT sport. Maybe with an amp but id say its A no no. You have to take out the bass tube which makes the 3.5 sound much better. Yes 3.5s lol better then 6.5s for $500 bucks. Gonna buy an amp on payday. Cross my fingers. Just hope im not throwing away money.
