So glad I got to see these guys for the 2nd time on the Devastation on the Nation tour. So fucking amazing, Would see you guys again soon for sure. The Black Dahlia Murder & Suicide Silence tour was also pretty good. But seeing y'all in a tiny venue is what really made me fall in love again. I'll be waiting for the next tour soon.
Incredible!!!!!!! This song is epic! That guitar tone is fucking tasty too. Gabe kills it on drums. The album artwork is phenominal too. So happy to see a local band killing it!!
Damn! I got tickets to the Black Dahlia show in my town and saw you as an opener. First song I've listened to, and I LOVE it! I'm definitely buying your stuff!
I can definitely hear some Black Dahlia in there, but i would not call these guys a rip off, i like them a lot though, pretty fucking brutal, almost makes that BDM/SS tour worth going to
It's like The Black Dahlia Murder met Veil of Maya and this little demonspawn came out having the best things from both of them! 10/10. Great facemelt!
I like both of those bands (mixed on the cleans they're overbearing in vom sometimes but Marc okubo fucking rips) but I hear zero vom. More wretched or necrophagist and tbdm.
each time i hear this, something more heavy pops out at me from the depths of insanity. Like the part in the solo when it drops extremely hard. *applause*
I can tell Wretched has influenced them a lot cause this song sounds a lot like what they would riff up and the tone is also similar. This is some awesome stuff. Just got a new fan from me.
Hatredcopter 424....at the knitting factory? I was there too....There were incredible live, and it sounded just like this studio production. So talented!
This reminds me of TBDM sure, but it doesn't mean that you idiots should call them a rip off. Maybe TBDM was a huge source of influence to their music. And btw this song slays!
To me this sounds more like Necrophagist than TBDM, musically. Vocally this guy sounds way different than Trevor. But pretty much every band who does highs, lows, and mids, are all compared to Trevor for some reason.
Ok yes, there is a Black Dahlia influence, but these guys are way more technical/progressive. Even old Black Dahlia never got this crazy. Yeah, I can see how the vocal style and sound is damn near trying to be like it. In terms of the actual music there are some parts that are similar, but overall its not that close. TBDM plays a lot more groovy kinda stuff, less crazy sweeps and odd timings, more typical song structures and thrash like riffs. I'm not calling TBDM thrash metal, but these guys just have a different style of guitar playing.
+Jonas Messiaen Where do you hear any "core" influence in them at all aside from Unhollowed? They're a melodic death metal band which leans more towards death metal in their latest material.
+OneSickDrummer Well, in this Alterbeast song here at 2:07 there's a part which could easily be used in a hardcore song as a breakdown, if not for the drums and the tremolo picking. But that's a connection I make.
Jonas Messiaen You're not wrong at all. I just see it a different way. Metal has almost always had "breakdowns", they were just a little different than hardcore. They would add in extra elements that aren't normally in a core breakdown. Even my band uses breakdowns, but we still don't consider ourselves core, because overall we are a lot closer to melodic death metal. We took to calling it, "Funeral Death Metal". Darker By Design. Should check us out. It's not some low quality garage or live recordings.
