I love the idea of the door and finding a photo inside. Also love the text you added with the paste. I'm going to try this....can't wait to start creating my book. I've prepped one of my books and am just gathering my "stuff" and trying to formulate my ideas for what I want to create. Its the fun part and then starts the art. They say half of the creation is in the mind first and then when you get to the table the other part just unfolds. At least that's what I'm hoping. Watching you create is also very inspirational to me. keeping me going.

I have recently ( a few months ago) found you on youtube...and can i just say you have been one of the best of the process videos/instructional /guide/ artists i have come upon! I am eagerly attempting to follow many of your videos and trying my hand at mixed media at its best, and although you have patreon etc..you truly have given those of us who cannot join all the sites , a chance to learn to try to make mistakes but you are there for us...thank you so very very much for all you do for all of us out here and for all your patience in all your videos! I have really stepped out of my comfort zone with the paint colors you use! I always think the colors aren’t going to go together well and then it comes out Amazing!! Love this page! So colorful and interesting ( just like you). I've got to tell you that I never enjoyed putting on the first layer on my pages until I heard you call them underpants. Now it's so much fun. You should have seen my husband's face the first time I told him I was going to my studio to put on the underpants😄 Priceless!

Sitting here with an ear infection, in 70 years I have never had one, OUCH, your wonderful 2 videos really cheered me up, I will be doing one of these fun doors tomorrow! I have not been able to “rust up”the bottle caps in less than a week. They are stubborn and I like them with crumbles😍 I am on the hubby’s IPad as who knows where I have set mine. Paula

I thought to myself, just how long does it take before you have to clean up your studio again. For me, it’s always after a week’s worth of play. I tend to be linear with my underpants layer too. I figured it was the decades of piece making and quilting. in me, keeping the background linear, so,I could have all the fun with the curvy quilting. Great colors for this marvelous page.

LM is my spirit animal. Seriously---I love everything she makes and she makes everything so accessible. I work in a non-profit mental health clinic and I'd love to use altered book creating with some of our clients. It's Narrative Art Therapy!

Still watching this one for first time but wanted to toss you a question. Do you tend to mix your paint colors with varnish as opposed to glazing med for a reason, or is the expense of the glaze? I am amazed how costly they can be, but wanted to ask your opinion. Maybe you just like that look better w varnish. Spew forth o' wise one. And thank you!
hey toots....now that is a great question! i use the glaze because of the cost...you know i do...but if i had glazing medium in my cabinet i would use that too....depends on availability and cost my friend...see you on the table...

thank you for asking paula...this is the best texture paste i have found and you can make it yourself...and if it is sealed tightly...it will last a very long time! equal amounts of white gesso and modpodge...stir in enough baby powder (or cornstarch) to make it the consistency you are looking for...it dries quickly and hard...you can sand it..and ta dah! see you on the table soon!
I ADORE your work so much! May I ask what Stabilo pencil you use to smudge edges? I looked up 'Stabilo' on Amazon and they sell a range of pencils and I don't know which one to get, specifically. (Also, do you have a video that explains the 'underpants' thing? I get the point of it just by watching your videos, just didn't know if you expounded on it in a previous video, with details)...thank you again for sharing your incredible work with us, and for inspiring our artistic streaks!💕💕

i love questions.....the varnish will dilute the color of the paint while not affecting the integrity of the paint....if you dilute the paint with water....it changes the paint too much for me...so i use the varnish...the paint is then, still thick...yet diluted in color....i hope that answers the question bb....go create, to play, go have fun!!!!

i use the varnish in the paint to dilute it a bit...make it more transparent...but the varnish is not a regular varnish...it is like a glazing compound and it does not effect the integrity of the paint like water does...i hope that answers your question anneke....yep....see you on the table!
