Stephen and I had been discussing filming an acoustic session while he was in California when he confirmed this show at Vacation Vinyl in Silverlake. Since the set was going to be as stripped down as possible (no effects and no PA; just a guitar and voice) there wasn't a need to film anything else. Steve plays several solo songs ranging from his first record to his latest effort "Hit or Mystery" and also a song from each Cave In and Mutoid Man! Special thanks to my friend Kimo for helping film. This is Altered Course 014.

He really is a good dude. I was lucky to catch an acoustic show with him and Emma Ruth Rundle a few years ago. He chatted with anyone who went up to him in between sets. Such an extraordinary talent and so down to earth

@@TheBigDirty716 That's really humbling to hear. The nicest people I've ever met in my life have all been involved in the metal community in one form or another. I think it's because we let out our aggression and have much more room for better things to fill the void, so to speak haha.

he is super nice! about two months ago me and my friend went to talk to him before the show and after the show and he didn’t even once looked like he’s in a hurry or doesn’t want to give us his time of day, he was very present, very nice, very sweet , I think the fact he was so nice to us really made the deepest impression, I turned into an even bigger fan afterwards! Who said “never meet your idols”? that’s a lie! Meet them greet them and get to see their true selves with fans. ❤️🔥👍

Played a couple of shows with him back in 2005, when he was in the UK with New Idea Society. I was already a fan of Cave In and his solo works up to that point and he was a totally lovely dude. It's always a pleasure getting to see him play in various projects over the years.

Thanks for posting this! Haven't seen Brodsky solo yet, so watching this full screen on my computer, putting on headphones and pressing my face to the monitor was a great alternative. Beautiful songwriter, singer, player, etc.

Brodsky is such a well rounded and knowledgable musician. He voice can sound great stripped down, full on rock , metal, and everything else. I REALLY need to get out to more shows seeing as he's from my home state. Long live CAVE IN!

He is one of the true greats. Folks got so used to recycled music that as soon as it evolves it’s too different to bother taking the time to learn, when you can hear another hit that’s scientifically created to excite you by sounding familiar. Does anyone else find it insane that certain classical songs or the musicals from the 1850’s to the 1980’s just keep going around? To make a song that is yours and considered odd, different or hard to get into is guaranteed to give the writer and listener enormous injections of serotonin and dopes once the new sonic path is cut out and understood. Fuckin’ magic.
