For those who don't know the story behind the video. There was a club in Stoke on Trent called the leisure Bowl. It had club nights called Shelley 's and Entropy. One night when the club had finished Altern8 turned up in the car park on the back of an articulated lorry and started playing, until the police showed up. That's what's recorded in this video
I remember this choon on Top of the Pops... followed by SL2 on a ragga tip ...and The prodigy Charlie says always tell your mummy before you go somewhere :-) i was 13 . My sister 7 yrs older than me so i had them all recorded dodgy cassette tapes recorded over ... used to stick tissue in the top bits.. anyone else from that era should know what im on about ..i must recorded over so many of my mums tapes ...she was vexed when i recorded over Hot chocolate... high fringes perms shell suits and sovereign rings on every finger ' proper ard' lol
hahaha my story exactly! but it was my sister's tapes I used to tape over which pissed her off lol she wasn't into rave music which I don't think ever changed because I continually fucked her off with my loud playing and destroying her tunes ahaha I feel like a kid again thanx :D
How on earth can Altern 8 be a 'bad choice' of group to represent the early 90's??? Mark archers one of the most underated producers of all things 808/303 based acid house & detroit techno & still plays bangin sets to this day! He's been there since day 1 under other guises too such as nexus 21 & produced house classics & nu skool breaks too. The dust mask & chemical war fare suit was essential wear in 91/92 for many of us who 'knew the score' & such an huge iconic part of that much celebrated & loved old skool 'rave' scene....ardcore will never die!!!!!.... ;)
RELICS92 Considering electro albums were hardly promoted at this point in time, I was amazed with this one. Their album was a masterpiece. Anyone remember the album C.O.D.E.S by Bassheads. I had no idea they released one until I found it by accident on vinyl.
Why don't they ban all the new shit and bring back this sound... I can imagen all radio stations would pump up rave and happy hardcore all day... would be perfect!

I remember going to a christening in 91 and after we went back to the families place ,a mate had a few Rhubarbs and we necked them leaving the church .when we got back to our mate gaff we were flying and the only music we had was an Altern 8 tape which was played over and over again as we went mental in a communal garden .Much to the amusement of the neighbours .best baptism ever !
Let's ravers unite and get this rave classic to number 1 for Christmas. It would be amazing to have a 1991 rave tune occupying the top slot. The early 90s was the best ever era for dance music.
Born in 1973, came into this in 1992 off of a backdrop of Skinny Puppy, NIN, Ministry, and then I discovered The Prodigy and my world did change, my only regret not seeing them live, Altern-8 the real deal and seemingly timeless. I just hope everyone can find the joy and ecstasy in this music!!
I hear you loud and clear. I was in my early 20s when that shit was fresh and thank God for RU-vid for bringing it all back and keeping the memory alive. It is harder for me than you because I was THERE and I can't believe the shit that is around now.

I have the original 7" single record from November 1991 when it went top 10 then. A pity it only reached no.33 in this year's Christmas charts, but at least today's teeny boppers and crap music will appreciate what good dance was like during rave decade (90s).
Hope this re-introduction of rave to the masses may re-introduce this sort of music to the mainstream generally. This sort of music needs to come back. Today's chart is such crap. Proof indeed: lots of it is all old songs!
well said Mike Wraight, same here, and being a Stafford lad myself seeing these around our home town was so good, you were either Altern 8 or Bizarre inc in Stafford at the time and it was our time to shine
This is the track/that started it for me. Every Friday after school we would rush to the local record shop to pick up the latest stuff. The DJ that was there told us, "you got 2 pick this LP up man" Smashing, one of the best recommendations.

Jamie Davies no nothing like that, say you're looking at something still, it will look like its slightly moving, sort of wavy. colours look stronger. people look like they don't belong in the background, imagine a badly photoshopped photo where the person looks like they've Been super imposed onto another picture. Patterns on things like wallpaper are wavy and look different etc. You lose concept of time, I once spent an hour an a half lying on my bed, head flat on the mattress because what in reality was about 30cm to the wall, looked like a desert stretching for miles and miles, thought I'd only been there 2 minutes until my mates came back with weed they'd gone to score
Clueless statement. Loads of 200mg+ pills around these days, Not many of them back in the day. Drug testing labs in Switzerland/Amsterdam etc back that up.
