@@supersonictv8916 Probably cuz on the map from Papers Please the North side of Obristan is smooth and like there is no border line at that side so that must say its not an island. Even if the sides north to Obristan are not shown within the game map doesnt mean it's necessary to make it an island.
Even if there are no official sources to backup the location not being an island, considering the Eastern European aesthetic, it’s much more likely the ocean shown in game is actually an inland sea.
I like the histories of these countries that you have created. The most realistic part of this is that not every country has people dedicated to that country. (Example: Arstotzka and Obristan are made up mostly of ethnic Koles). I really like the thinking behind it.

Vortex Mapping If that is so, then for some reason I feel "alternative" isn't the right word to use, as it suggests that there is actual lore from Papers Please (besides the war) that you're basing this from. Respectfully I think "Fictional" or "Suggested" would be more accurate for this project. I love the idea overall. Just think if he made a sequel game of sorts that would add more lore!
I think "alternate" history to a fictional world suggests at least a bit that it's fan made. The beginning part about the history of migrants/settlers should be enough of a red flag that it's not canon. The only historical assumptions that can be made about the game is that Kolechia and Arstotzka may have had a long bad history with each other because of the recent war they keep mentioning in the game and that Arstotzka may have had a negative relationship with Impor in the past due to their disagreements on imported goods. If you played the game/saw a full playthrough, you should know yourself that a lot of the information in this video came out of nowhere.
I like the idea of it being an island in the middle of nowhere. I feel like most people think that this is the entire world, which personally doesn't make any sence to me

Maybe hat region was difficult to reach and/or defend (swamplands, barren etc.), so most likely Yenmeran people moved and settled there, but the realm wouldn't guarantee the borders.
