I follow you since the beginning of S1 and now, I am sure, you are the god of mapping, I was waiting someone like you to do a series like this and now… I have no words: alternate history of alternate history, it is amazing. Thank you
Changes from the first version of WWII, from what I can see: Persia, the Ottomans, Bulgaria, and Hungary joined Germany near the war's beginning. The US, Canada, and UBSR didn't join the war. Italian defenses were defeated, and Germany didn't focus on France. There was an offensive into Russia at some point. Very exciting!
An alternate history, of the alternate history... I kinda wanted to see how the world would move on in the present day in the "Lion" timeline, but at the same time, I'm glad you didn't, because that might have ended up like almost every other post-apocalyptic series, which would have been stale since that scenario has been done to death, though I don't doubt your ability to make even stale scenarios interesting. If you were considering continuing into the future in the Lion timeline, I would love to hear what ideas you had. The world would be broken and confused, that wouldn't be a stretch. My headcanon only has America in some detail, which may come out as a Communist regime, a modern day Soviet Union, out for blood. Anyways, back to the video at hand, I applaud you for taking the time for a world map, that must not have been an easy decision to make considering the extra work you need to put in for it, thank you. You didn't have to, and I appreciate that you are doing it anyway. I really wish I could bring historical scenarios I think of to life like you do. It's amazing
Assuming Louis even released the plague, that is. The ending is REALLY ambiguous, and it is unclear whether he really pushed the button or had a last minute heel-turn and decided to toss it away. So the "Lion" timeline MAY be post-apocalyptic, but it also may just be a optimistic one where life goes on as usual uptop, as it is possible only a handful of citizens went to the bunkers so.... Pretty much, it can be interpreted in two ways. Either a post-apocalyptic scenario like you said, or a "Life goes on as ususal on the surface" TL.
The Visitor Either way, life may not go on as usual, WW3 saw to that. The past century was filled with war, radicalization, insanity, death, betrayal. There is no way, even if the plague wasn't released, that the world could remain the same, akin to post WW1, it would still be confused and broken. There would also be fear, as weapons got better, war got bloodier. No nation, besides those with the most radical ideologies, would even consider war as a worthwhile venture. Probably would be a never ending cold war, because FEF proved that, while the interwar cold period was standoffish, it was the most peaceful time in the past century, and still in living memory.
But still, the devastation brought by the Third World War would be NOWHERE NEAR as severe as in the case where the plague would be released, because the countries could actually begin the rebuilding processes proper, because without the plague, it would not devastate their economies, workforce, etc as much. Plus lets not forget that they were all allied against the Atlantic Pact, so most likely, there would not be a immediate 2nd cold war until most of the world has rebuilt. As no one would risk tanking their economies by waging a another war while they barely even stood up on their feet. It is like adding salt to a unhealed wound, stretching it open, and wiggling around in it. It would be a total disaster. So a plague-less "Lion" timeline would be more optimistic IMHO than a full on post-pandemic reality. Anyways, you said that there would be a infinite cold war after WW3. Mind elaborating? As I doubt anyone would have a reason to go t war that early after defeating FEF.
The Visitor What I mean by that is those passive cold war style policies that Theodore criticized would be used as the default, as that prevented conflict, and nobody wants to fight anymore. It worked until someone decided to stop using those policies. I still think despite the outcome that America would come out either as a Communist regime, or in the non-plague outcome, a chance that America may be embroiled in a civil war of Red vs White(or Blue in an American context maybe), again paralleling Russia. This America might be the only nation that may want a fight in this timeline, even more reason for other nations to go back to FEF's passive cold war style policies, maybe even to the point of appeasement.
HELL YES, CEU Victory on a world map! Looks like in this scenario Hungary joined Germany and the Ottomans + Bulgaria joined the war early. es ist deutschland Jahrhundert!
Okay after a lot of rewatching, I have questions. Why does Argentina own Uruguay? Why does Mexico own Guatemala and Belize? Why is there a United Central America? Why does Germany have ,,control’’ over south China? Wasn’t Senegal given to the Netherlands(according to your ASIV)? Did Germany annex after its civil war? Edit(additional questions): Weren’t Gabon and Ghana part of Italy? And Hungary did have colonies, what happened to them? What the hell happened to the South American colonies of the different nations? Maybe this just a mistake, it doesn’t really matter in the end, but if there is an actual explanation I hope you tell us about in a ASIV video or something.
So...Season 3 will be about Germany winning with France in WW2, right? I must say I wasn't expecting that xD But good work! You've really improved map of yours. Keep up amazing work! ^^
Considering that in this TL, the militarists still won over the Kaiser and due to their forceful anschluss of everything in Season 1, I doubt this Germany would be benevolent in any way. Tbh, I think THEY will be the villain this time, a S3 equivalent of the FEF.
Wow, I thought you were just going to ignore the Germans winning but you care about your fans a lot to the point where you keep a promise with them from about a year ago. Best mapper out there.
I have a music idea : quantum sonata (the first and last parts emidiatly? remind me of mapping) and of you the god of mapping. I also just want to thank you for this amazing series. Thank you very much!!! (Excuse my english fellow german friend :D)
is Manchuria part of japan not not cause id Doesn't show it being part of the second sino japanese war but in the second map where what will happen when the germans win it shows only it with having outer manchuria and korea as well to be in the war wihtout the rest of the empire of japan was that just a mistake?
Wern't you going to make a little alt timeline where Slavia 'won' 3rd world war and was 'defeated' by Danumian League or it's just my mind playing with me?
since when is "Kaiserreich" a genre? It is just an Alternate History where Germany won World War 1, but not like it happened in the Kaiserreich universe...
