My lot is almost pure rock therefore I can't create a drain field. I'm looking for a septic alternate that can be used and dispersed above ground. Would something like this work?
Yes, This would work for that application as far as treating the effluent properly, but your local health dept. would still have to approve a drainage area design.
Answering your question 6 years later but yes. You can put in aerobic system similar to this with a third pump tank with a chlorinator after the aerobic treatment tank. The water in the third tank is then surface applied with a high pressure pump through sprinkler heads. This system is used almost exclusively in Texas where the soils are heavy clay.
Aero-Tech is no longer in business. But there are other companies who have aeration or other secondary treatment options. Check with your local Health Dept on approved equipment.
This can't reduce drain field area because it's designed to a flow rate, not a biological load rate. A drain field needs to be able to absorb the water from the house and this system does nothing to reduce discharge rate.
