Hello, here are two examples of what I learned today! I don't know if you know, but I work with computers and today I just set up all "except for" one. Work with computers is good "yet" stressful sometimes. Thanks for this lesson. Have a nice day.
1:She is sick despite she's being weakness . 2: Some people argue that it has several drawbacks. Whereas on the other contrary. Others proclaim that it has numerous benefits.
OK Emma, there are loads of such type of words and collocations in English! Here are some of them, not much. They mightn't absolutely familiar to 'BUT' although I know a lot of speakers of English are using them all most of time. *Perhaps* *Besides* *Moreover* *Furthermore* *As a result* *In addition to...* *More by token* *Even so* *For all that* *All the same* *Just the same* *By the same token* *By this token* *Beyond* *On the top of that* *All in all* *As well as that* *By and large* *Overall* *On the whole* *I stick to the point that...* *More than that* *In other words...* *Notwithstanding* *Nonetheless* *It goes without saying* *Without any further ado...* *The last but definitely not least...* *Needless to say...* *There's one more thing to do/say/perform (any other verb)* *To put it mildly/bluntly...* *I have no doubt* *To say/put it another way...* *Generally (speaking)...* *In general...* *In reality...* *Last of all...* *At the very least...* *Roughly speaking...* *For the most part* *To cut a long story short...* *On the contrary* *Finally...* *Factually* *In fact* *Let alone* *Considering...* *Regardless of...* *Not to speak of...* *Not speaking about...* *Say nothing of...* *Not to mention that...* *Concerning to...* *Meanwhile* *In the meantime* *Lastly...* *To sum up...* *In conclusion* *In a nutshell...* *In the end...* *In most cases...* *All things considered...* *I tend/ I prone/ I'm inclined to suppose...* Oops!... So sorry for such a gigantic list of phrases, it's by the reason I just love learning them and I was learning them many years ago. There aren't all these type of collocations at all, it's just that I could remember instantly, to my memory! Thanks Emma! You're my adorable teacher and additionally, a very attractive woman! Greetings from Ala Moana, Honolulu💖💖💖
This lesson is exceptional, although I studied in Australia for two years yet I found it interesting and learned new alternatives to but, thank you indeed.
Friendly advice for English learners 🌍…remember that learning English is a process (a marathon, not a sprint 🐢). Never lose sight of the reason why you want to learn English..it should be all the motivation that you need! 🇨🇦
Yesss, another marvelous lesson🧡. Thank you for helping us to enrich our vocabulary and speak confidently. Your channel is without a shadow of a doubt the bee's knees and you are an outstanding teacher that brings valuable lessons to the table. Your lessons make me believe that it's possible to learn a foreign language by myself. I can't thank you enough dear Emma! ❤
Thank you so much Emma! 🙋♂️ You're a beautiful teacher with such a beautiful smile! 😁 I think the best way to learn English - studying it THE NATURAL WAY, through fun stories, movies and songs! 😀🤗 *Let's boost our English speaking skills together, guys!* 💪🤩
Hi, Emma An interesting lesson about how to avoid BUT and use alternative words. I sincerely appreciate your efforts 👏👏. This lesson truly useful to all learners. Thanks and regards,
My text about present lesson: hi, teacher of MMMEnglish! I'm still studying English by myself, even though I'm hearing impaired, on the other hand, I'm getting to learn from your classes! Thank you so much!🙇🤗
Hey Emma would u mind making more lessons on formal words which can be used in academic writing? Your lessons are rad, and I would love to learn academic words or vocab with your lessons. Really psyched for those lessons, so please make one asap! Maybe next tuesday?
You always bring us something that mesmerized our minds every time so thank you 🙇 so much for filling the blank screen of our English language and its impact on speech. Yeah, that's the way you make every lesson interesting with fun. Simply Love you, your lessons and tips tricks, and advice on the little things in it. 🙌
Thanks a lot about your great lesson my amazing teacher though I'ma understand everything about English as you're teaching us what we do not expect to be taught
English is tough, learning with Emma is easy though. To be totally up front, it took me some time until I got my head around what was going on with this language. I made countless mistakes and I still make a few, however, my stubborn consistency doesn't allow me to give up. Life is crazy and sometimes I don't get around to attaining all my daily goals but on the other hand, my excuses are getting better all the time😄. Nevertheless, I have to take responsibility for my studies because no one is going to do the work for me, and come to think of it, it's a process that takes time and patience. It's kind of a long journey. That said, I have to pull myself together and get down to work because English is not only a language, yet a bridge that helps us to connect with each other. English might be difficult but not impossible. Don't beat yourself up, instead, keep up the great work. There's nothing unattainable, your effort will pay off soon💙. Apart from practicing my writing skills nothing much :))).
Thanks a lot about your great lesson my amazing teacher keep up the good work You've got to tell us more about alternatives coz we wanna have a knowledge about English our Leaders must be surprised when speaking English
Hello dear teacher from Buenos Aires Argentina.🙂 Thanks for this lesson. I think that whereas can be another word similar in meaning to but. John is always on time at work whereas Peter always arrives late . Thanks ❤️🌷 again ❤️🌹😘

Dear Emma! How is it going? Is everything well? Are you OK? I'm worried about you a lot, frankly speaking!... If I've had a better time in all my life, Than writing loving poetry for you, Than making feelings thoughts, emotions rife, To be inspired in everything I do, Than putting down on paper all my love, For the most deserving woman that I know, To think of you alone, yet all above, It can only be this one thing, I will show, It's...to see your face, when I give your song, It's...to feel your fingers snatch your sacred text, It's...to watch your beauteous eyes grow big and long, It's...to hear your angel voice recite what's next; That is the best of all the best times past, That is the best and always will it last.
Emma, I’ve heard the word “less” used instead of “bar” or “but not”, eg. The AFL will be transmitted live into every state less WA”. Is that correct English?
Ooooh great question! I don’t think the example you gave is quite right, but it is common when talking about money/finance - “You can earn up to $400 per day, less tax.” (Here, “less” is a synonym of “minus”)
Hi Emma: Why "nevertheless" rather than "nonetheless"? What's the difference? Are there situations when "despite"/"in spite of" can be used in lieu of "but"? Thanks!
