There's something magical about moving back to an area where I first lived when I left home in my teens and seeing it with reminiscent eyes as well as with a fresh, new look, together with rediscovering a place I thought I knew so well.🙃
This is of course, thanks to the internet. Beforehand, I couldn't just open Google Maps and get to know my surroundings in such detail as I can today. Back then, I either knew some place existed or I didn't. Simple as!💁‍♂️
So, it's such a joy to learn about these local walking routes that would have been right under my nose all those years ago. Not that my younger self would have been at all that interested. Lol😄
Anyway, at long last, I got to experience The Alum Chine Trail. This route is really pleasant and is perfect for a leisurely walk. A great attraction along the path is The Alum Chine Bridge which was constructed in 1903 as a way to make better access for locals besides the ever increasing, visiting tourists. It's a nice feature and provides an appreciable backdrop as you walk along the path underneath.🌁🌲🌳
Finally, at the end of the trail, you can enjoy the delightful tropical gardens.🌴This beautiful, tranquil oasis has a stunning array of exotic plants and trees. And there's no better way than to finish off this walk than by sitting on Alum Chine beach and listening to the waves lapping against the shore as you disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.🧘‍♂️🌊
The Alum Chine Bridge is a notable feature in the Alum Chine area of Bournemouth. It spans across Alum Chine, a small river that runs through the chine (a steep-sided coastal ravine). The bridge provides pedestrians with access across the chine, connecting different parts of the area and offering lovely views of the surrounding natural beauty.
The Alum Chine Bridge in Bournemouth, England, holds historical significance as a key feature in the development of the area. Here's some historical information about it:
Construction: The bridge was constructed in 1903 by the Bournemouth Corporation. It was built as part of the corporation's efforts to improve access and amenities in the Alum Chine area, which was becoming increasingly popular with tourists and locals alike.
Design: The bridge is an example of early 20th-century bridge architecture. It features stone or concrete supports and a sturdy metal structure spanning the Alum Chine stream. The design likely aimed to blend with the natural surroundings while providing a functional and aesthetically pleasing crossing point.
