Great comment, Amen 🙏 @lokirussell5891, ...I totally agree with you. I've been changing mine for years. My son had a Honda Odyssey, he took it to a place called "Grease Monkey" oil change and there must have been monkeys doing the oil change because they stripped out the threads on an aluminum oil pan. I don't let any mechanic touch my vehicles. I generally consult forums on the internet to repair my problems.

I changed my own oil from the first oil change on my first car EXCEPT two times when I was unable to do it myself. First shop put the drain plug in soooo friggin' tight it took me forever to loosen it. Second time the stealership NEVER CHANGED IT! My pops had his drain plug fall out of his Avalon shortly after an oil change. Oil light came on so he shut it down quickly and didn't blow the motor. I had a clutch, master and slave cylinder replaced once and they filled the system with filthy used cruddy oil. Also if you buy a used vehicle from a stealership, check that it has all of its lug nuts before leaving. And if the oem radio is on the floor with a nice head unit in the dash while taking a test drive, the oem will be reinstalled and the nice radio goes to the mechanics new diy shop stereo. Oh oh also check that all the dash lights work and that there isn't black electrical tape over the tpms light. I digress.

Either that or some half wit dropped it in the container holding the fresh oil and started pouring the oil before it settled to the bottom (or better yet, remove it! 😂) I've seen apprentices do it at workshops I've been employed at... I was gonna say, I've had a customer bring in a beautiful old Holden HQ Statesman 308/TH400 car with no oil pressure. Pulled the sump while the motor was still in the car to inspect it all and see how far we had to go with things. To my surprise, I found a FULL tea towel all torn up in the sump and minced up through the oil pump. It had been left in there by the last person to rebuild the motor in the 80's or 90's and it ran for a decade or two before it finally became a problem and block the pick up in the sump... It was the funniest thing I"d ever seen. I was a 3'rd it 4th year apprentice at the time and took a bunch of pics to take to trade school to show people- cause I didn't think they'd believe me... 😂😂😂

I'm in my 60's. My time is too precious to waste time going to Walmart to buy a case of oil, filter and oil catch, then climb under a dirty car to change the oil, then have to take the old oil to dispose of, when I can drive through Valvoline Oil Service, sit in my comfortable car while someone else does it in 15 minutes for $35 bucks. AND the oil change is entered into the cars maintenance database that my dealer can easily see. Try getting a big warranty job for free with your two-bit receipts and your word that YOU did the oil changes. They'll laugh you out of the dealership. Seriously. Why would anyone do this themselves?

I got good news and bad news. The oil will do a better job, but you'll burn more of it because it'll actually get to the engine. The sticker blocked the oil, so you now have excessive wear, possible piston slap. Now that the sticker is removed, the oil will burn and create carbon build up and clog your catalytic converter. The real good news is, we know that whoever pulled that sticker to put a new one on, owes you an engine.
@user-hk5wx5op9u
@user-hk5wx5op9u 8 месяцев назад
Easy to figure out where that came from. It's either the sticker they made during that oil change, or the change after. Likely they made the sticker, lost it, and made a new one. Maybe it dropped into the open oil fill and when it happened, the shop didn't want to say anything because it would have cost them thousands in an engine tear down to get that debris out.
