During the Falkland Islands War of 1982, the destroyer HMS Sheffield was hit and the crew had to abandon ship. As they were in the water in their life jackets, watching their ship sinking and burning, awaiting rescue from another ship, they started singing this song.

You did Mr. Idle justice. The one time America's FCC didn't fine anyone for saying "shit" on broadcast TV was for Eric Idle's performance of this song during the opening of the 2012 Olympics. :)

My little brother died about 2 years ago aged just 37; he was a scamp, a joker and never saw the serious side of life. He died at the most in opportune time, as the whole of the family were away on holiday, except him and his wife. He laughed right up to the end. This song always remind me of him, and that life is there to be enjoyed, not as a chore. This rendition is a delight to listen to.

This is a fantastic cover, I feel like most covers lose something. I think it's that you have a similar British accent to Eric Idle. Either way this is awesome.
