Am I making mistake? Canon 1DX Mark II in 2022 

All I can say is that it is comforting reading all these comments from other 1DXII shooters! I think we all feel the 1DXII is still relevant in 2023..

You're not wrong. There's definitely *something* about the 1D series, especially the 1DX2. I've had one for 5 years and there's truly not much I don't love about it. Stills are fantastic, best AF i've used. I've only not been using the 4K because of the cost of CFast and long term storage. The files are massive, but the quality is just so much greater than the 1080 output. That being said, 99% of my video work is 1080/60 or 120 and I have no real complaints. No overheating issues with this one either. Biggest thing for me is I would like the IBIS, but is it worth switching to the mirrorless lineup? I don't think so.

Have a 1dx ii, I think about getting a second 1dx ii all the time. The ergonomics of replacing cards and batteries and lenses feels perfect in the hands. It packs enough power that the camera can get older and I'm not really being held back by its capabilities. I haven't even begun to master 4k, having a couple 1dx ii's seems like a great place to be for the next good bit of time.

I did Photography professionaly I made a living with a 6d for 4 years life Circumstances pushed me into other directions I m investing in Photography gear again and hope for the best in near future my choice is a used 1DX MK II bought used for 1950Canadian $ 44k shutter count Wish me luck eh :D

I still have the Canon 1d mark iii I also have. The newest Sony A64000 but I love the 1d mark iii than my Sony it's a beast! Literally even after all this years this camera still win for photography

Hey bro - I own a 1DX Mark II and III and I have to say they are a BEAST of a camera and I def recommend. The 1DX Mark II is a great buy in 2022..... only downsize is the video codec creates HUGE files, but outside of that I love my Mark II and as you mentioned you can get them at an unbelievable price now, and it feels great in the hands.

Chris, I purchased the 1DX Mark II in 2016 and I still use it today. It's not a mistake at all. Get one!

The 1DX Mark 3 Canon is a Work Horse !! get it no matter what all these experts say it will be around for a few more years ive had mine for about 3 years and its still kicking Ass super fast and even the new Sony and Canon still run neck in neck with it ...Amazing camera

I totally resonate with the pro body being a priority, but I feel like the R7 would be a lot more camera for the price. My only concern for you is matching the images, it’s really nice to have everything shooting the same profile for video anyways! Also you can always rig a small camera bigger, but you can never make a 1dx smaller lol

I bought the mkii about 4 mo ago and I have loved every bit of it but as a person mentioned you want to have the same kind of cameras DLSR and Mirrorless are hard as hell to match the images and video. I have an eos R and wish I sold it and bought a second mkii or mkiii. The 1dx are still beast and you can't go wrong.

I will always be an old school shooter. I'm getting ready to buy the same camera and I can't wait! I ditched my Sony A7iii, I HATED mirrorless.

For photos you can't go wrong with it! For video B cam it will be good too. I don't see why not. I wouldn't care about video specs since you are already rocking the R5

I bought the 1DX Mark II in 2021 Right after COVID and I was worried if I made a mistake because it came out in 2016. I dont think so this camera is a tank, rugged, and will last. The battery also keeps its charge forever. I even got a cage for it too. It looks and feels like a pro shooter even today in 2023 when I take it out to shoot for fun, people stop me and ask if I can quote them for photo projects since they assume I'm a pro photog by looking at the 1DXII strapped on me lol.

Go for it, I would say. If it inspires you, it can't be wrong. That alone is worth it. And you can put nails through walls with it 🤪

i wish they would have continued making dslrs as i dont want mirrorless. It seems like the new wave and they are trying to recreate that dslr erra. I bout a second hand 5D for less than 300 and it take picttures better than my 90d and 70d wich i paid 1200 for each body. The 1dx ii maybe my next camera. It has a look like no other and it ticks every box for anybody.

Bro, I totally agree with you. I just bought a 1dx mark ii this week and don’t regret it at all. The mirrorless hype in MY opinion is HIGHLY overrated. (TRIGGERED)!!!!😂😂😂😂. I personally like the look you get from a dslr over a mirrorless image, in both photo but, ESPECIALLY video! The smooth texture type grain you get from the dslr just looks better to me. Is the image clearer with a mirrorless? Maybe. HOWEVER, it doesn’t look as natural compared to dslr. It’s like if you have a valuable collectible that metal and, over time it collects that patina that gives it that rich historic look. Well, if you remove the patina, it actually devalues the item. In my humble opinion, mirrorless has removed the patina from video and picture quality. I know you’ll find 1dx mark ii. I found one that has less than 15,000 actuations on it and only paid 1,800!!! A STEAL!!! I absolutely LOVE this thing. My go to now, with my 5d mark iv as my back up. A lot of people are switching back after they realize that the magic is gone. It’s all about preference so, what’s good for you is good for you. Not sure if you found one or not but, would love to hear! 👍🏾

Bro I have a canon. 1Dx mark ii and a canon r5 and I’m still use the canon 1Dx mark ii for videos it feels better than that canon r5 tbh

I was debating between the mark ii and iii as well. I only really wanted the mark iii because the dual card slots are the same card. If the mark ii had two cfast card slots it would be a no brainer for me to go with the mark ii. But youre right, the price difference to features isnt enough for my to go with the mark iii

that is not a mistake in any way, but considering the price i would rather get a LUMIX G9 HANDS DOWN and keep all that cash for better lenses.

I have the r3 and it’s amazing, but if you have your heart set on the 1dxmkii I would suggest you go to griffin conways channel and checkout his review of the 1dxmkii vs the 1dxmkiii it’s good and shows the difference in the two cameras. Also canon has both cameras instock on their website in the refurbished store, that will save you some money also.

Hey, I do not shoot video what so ever, only 100% stills, and some say the 1dx and 1dxii are roughtly the same for stills in quality, what is your personal opinion? IF there is minimal quality + handling differences, then I can (almost) get 2x 1DX bodies for the same price as a 1DXii body in some places.

id say try to bag a used one! i shoot on the R5 and id consider a 1dxii as a B cam to beat up

If you'll need it for B-Cam don't you want something that can shoot Clog like your A-Cam too? I believe the Mark II doesn't have clog at all, and if you gonna go for Mark III the R3 suddenly looks like a good deal xP

I have a 1dx mark2 since summer 2019. I truly hate this camera now. I liked it the first couple of months. But now? The HD Video is for the trash can. The 120 is great. The 4k is great, the codec is rubbish. But what really pisses me of is Canon. They wont give u better options with firmware, like blackmagic or nikon. The LP cost 219€!!! Wtf. If u want to have a power adapter you have to pay 500€! You have to send it to canon twice a year to clean the sensor for 80€ cause you cant do it yourself. And the mirror is oily as fuck. For me, the imagie quality foto wise sucks now. My phone can do photos which are better. The lights are always blown out easily. Its so heavy and big. Everyone is looking at you. If i could go back in time, i would spent my money in a different company.
