Its because he isn´t arrogant and has actually the right to know more in a sense (because of his experiences, life, career) If it´s some guy at a party your age it´s just a really ignorant and mean thing to do

Part of his charm is he always finds a way of making it about how impressive the other person is. He isn't an egotist or at least actively tries not to come across as one and that helps a lot too.

I’m pretty sure I read somewhere that he turned down a CBE previously. Also as stupid as it sounds the Royal Family rarely give them to people who have served time in prison. When we think of those who have them who either never saw justice or who can flaunt our legal and taxation laws then Stephen Fry is well above those people.

@@leonbrooks2107 I had no idea he had been in prison (not that it matters). I care so little about celebrities, that I actively try not to learn about their lives. Either way, I admire smart and he is brilliant.

Have you see the tv show "Travel Man" when Richard Ayoade was presenting it? He's a serious fan of Orson Welles, and in one episode, Richard and Chris O'Dowd go to Vienna. They visit the snowglobe museum run by the grandson of the inventor...and Richard attempts to leave with a replica of the snowglobe made there for the movie.

Joe Mankiewicz also wrote the screenplay for the classic _All About Eve_

Hopefully with a different actor. I actually loved him in Ozark, but he felt out of place in this.

And Joe was also one of the great loves of Judy Garland's life, to hear numerous bios tell it.

What about Charles Dance or Tom Burke

She was one of many great performances, for sure but by no means the best.

@@nightmaster5593 It was filmed really well, great and curious acting, fine script. It had heart and displayed some of our inner voices said aloud which cut to the bone and was happily uncomfortable to watch. All in all I will watch it again and I do recommend that do see it as soon as you can. I dare say place it at the head of the queue of the movies on your to watch list. Cheers!

Not exactly. In reality, Welles probably wrote most of the script. Also, Marion Davies and Mr and Mrs Mankiewicz were all the same age.

He was the aim of all humanists prior to the internet -- to cover all of 'high' (v.'pop') culture, no matter how shallowly. And I didn't get to university so I once tried to read something from the classic literary canon by John Galt! And the 1700s first novelists. Somehow rubbled up a firm foundation. Versus my four siblings who are at sea in fantasy worlds of their own suiting.

@@maryrosekent8223 Pretty crappy mystery if so, given their username :). It looks like they're using a chatbot based on Google Cloud to see if it will post anything intelligible. I'm happy they revealed what was going on, as I've seen other post like this which were not so helpfully marked. In other words, this post helped me _solve_ the mystery.
