I don't even care about the placement we may achieve this year, THIS IS ART, IT'S SUCH A GREAT SONG! 😭 And it makes me so happy to see that a lot of ESC youtubers, social media content creators and many other fans of the contest have placed us first in their tops, it fills me with joy. Amanda is a precious gem in terms of musical quality, an incredibly unique artist that belongs in the category of these talented people that are yet to be majorly recognised and she deserves to be recognised. The production is insane and feels so elegant and pure.

Just a small clarification for Deban. That isn’t the result of auto tune on her voice, it’s an effect created by something called a “vocoder” which is an electric instrument that analyses and synthesizes the human voice. In it’s most popularly in the form of a keyboard with a microphone input that enables the voice to be processed as chords that the performer plays. It was made popular by artist such as Laurie and Anderson and Imogen Heap, but is ubiquitous is many pop songs. It’s often confused with auto tune particularly because of excessive auto tune being used purposefully in post 90s hip hop by artist such as Kanye west. Overtly used auto tune has a similar sound to a vocoder, but is distinguishable by how it makes one single vocal line sound like it’s sliding or jumping around like a robot, where as a vocoder creates layered electronic sounding chords around the melody. Plus the fact that the song is not only about love but also related to what’s happening in the world right now (corona virus, war)and shows the pain we all experienced the recent years. I know that this song certainly does not remind of Greece, but so far we have tried: bouzouki, baglama, zeibekiko and everything that reminds of Greece, but at the end of the day no one was interested. This song, is a melodic ballad, with a wonderful voice and amazing lyrics that make you shudder. We are not interested in the first place (we could not financially support the competition after all), we just want you to love the song, because history has shown that songs like Verka Serduchka or fuego with Foureira, which did not come out first, made it bigger success. Just to inform you, Symi apart from being a very beautiful island it is also an island that, due to its monastery, offers a very religious experience. It is visited by many devout Christians every year. I have a feeling they shot the video there as an allegory of their relationship. A mystical, almost religious interpretation of their love that transcends time, life and death.

Wow the song is amazing and really emotional! Amanda wrote the song a year ago where she talks about a separation! The unbelievable thing besides her voice (which is out of this world) is the lyrics and that the song keeps you in suspense because it is building slowly! Two of my favourite parts are at 2:06 and at 2:46 !

Tenfjord's song "Run" won the Music Prize in 2015 also appeared in an advertising video for Personskadeforbundet LTN in 2014. In 2016, she participated in the music competition The Stream on TV 2, where she was placed among the top 30 participants. In 2019, she appeared in a programme on NRK P3 with the song "Let Me Think", and performed at the music festival Trondheim Calling. Tenfjord has also toured with the Norwegian band Highasakite. 8:50 That isn’t autotune, it’s a vocoder being used as a stylistic choice. Personally I loved that bit as soon as I heard it, obvious comparison but it reminds me of “Imogen Heap - Hide and Seek”. ☺️ She has the rest of the track to show off her voice imo, even then I’m not sure how they would be allowed to replicate this in May unless they allow that kind of effect on the pre-recorded vocals.
