And we all know that usually an upper caste person, when he gets upset, his scolding is also directed at the low caste of the other person. There has always been caste distinction or discrimination in India. It would be preposterous for a shudra to degrade the caste of a brahmin, because the shudra believes, he has to be reborn again and again to finally come into the higher class as a brahmin. Shashank Sharma, if you think that the powerful guy in the video is not a brahmin, that's ok by me. I also think the guy is not a priestly brahmin, but to identify a brahmin just by his dress code in other episodes is sort of laughable. However, *somesh chandra sharma* is absolutely right when he writes that the powerful people in this world always oppress the poor. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I find that strange that only a brahmin is allowed to wear a sacred thread for him to be identified as a brahmin. Then tisha says that the criminal guy in the video should not be blamed as a brahmin, because brahmins are usually doctors, astronomers, mathematicians and temple priests, and not landlords. LOL, really? How naive tisha is! As though all these professionals are angels of God and can never commit a crime. I will write a separate comment for tisha choudhuri with respect to brahmins. *To All:* I have read the Vedas and Bhagavad Gita, Quran, Bible, extensively. As I see the characters in this video, and relate the conduct of the two couples as per religious texts, we can conclude who really belongs to the upper class and who doesn’t, as per a few versus from the religious texts. Because you folks are Hindus, I have picked the verses from the Bhagavad Gita. *Sri Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita:-* 1) With respect to the karma of the wretched wife and her lusting lover: *Chapter 3: Karma-yoga* *Verse 37:* The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: It is lust only, Arjuna, which is born of contact with the material mode of passion and later transformed into wrath, and which is the all-devouring sinful enemy of this world. 2) With respect to the karma of the landlord: *Chapter 18: The perfection of Renunciation* *Verse 25:* That action performed in illusion, in disregard of scriptural injunctions, and without concern for future bondage or for violence or distress caused to others is said to be in the mode of ignorance. 3) With respect to the karma of the poor working couple: *Chapter 18: The perfection of Renunciation* *Verse 26:* One who performs his duty without association with the modes of material nature, without false ego, with great determination and enthusiasm, and without wavering in success or failure, is said to be a worker in the mode of goodness. There is some truth with regards to the allegation of arrogance exhibited by the Brahmins. Even today many Brahmins hold the false notion that they are the only intelligent, hard-working, with pure morals and physically clean people. It does not occur to them that the highly acclaimed scientists, philosophers, and artists all over the world are not Brahmins. Just a little introspection by them will reveal that even among their community there are dullards, ignorant, simpletons, rogues, and swindlers. Thought it may sound harsh Guru Nanak had asked that if a Brahmin is so special, then why does the Brahmin not emerge from some special part of the Brahmini? In the beginning of Hindu civilization there were classes (varnas) but not castes (jatis). Brahmanas, Kshtriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras were just designation. The designation for priest/teacher was Brahmin, for warriors/administrators it was Kshatriyas, for traders and those involved in commerce it was Vaishyas, and for artisans/cultivators/technicians it was Shudras. Normally people followed their hereditary professions. (Even today we find parents pressurizing their children to follow their (parents) profession especially when it comes to professions like a doctor, a lawyer, and or an engineer). But there was no prohibition against people changing their professions. Hence we find Vishwamitra, a Kshatriya becoming a seer. In Jatakas we come across a Brahmana carpenter belonging to Bharadvaja gotra and in Panchatantra about the story of a Brahmana farmer called Haridatta. In Mahabharatha we find a butcher by name Dharmavyadha living in Mithilarajya. He has said to have instructed a Brahmin Gautama Vedadhyayi in Vedanta philosophy. This shows that just because his profession was that of a butcher it did not prevent him from philosophizing. Identifying persons with a caste is stupidity of high order. Just ponder over this. One can have a national identity (Indian, Chinese, French, etc.), a religious identity (Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist, etc.), and a linguistic identity (Kannadiga, Tamilian, Bengali, Punjabi, Marathi, etc.) But what is the basis of identifying oneself with a caste. According to Manu a dvija (Brahmin), who not having studied the Vedas, tries to acquire other forms of learning (engineering, law, medicine, etc.) has degraded to the status of Shudra with all his progeny, even in his life. (Manu Smriti, chapter two, verse 168). Today 99 percent the people who identify themselves as Brahmins have not read the Vedas but still call themselves as Brahmins. Similarly is the case of people who identify themselves on castes based on occupation like shepherds, cow grazers, potters, agriculturists and so on. *Identifying one-self with a caste is like a person claiming to be a doctor not because he has studied medicine, but just because his father or grandfather was a doctor.
