Not one kid in the 80's (at least where I) grew up thought this show was racist let alone knew what the word meant. It was just good clean fun. Fast cars, police chases, comedy, country music, and southern hospitality. The time period was indeed the 'good ol days and probably the last bit of innocence we had as kids in society.
@KI5 JOX I loved the mid 70' to the early 90's. Its progressively gone down hill since then. I've often wondered what it'd be like to be born in 1947 like my dad was. He passed away on 1997, but he often told me that the late 50'to the early 70's was (in a way) a much simpler time to live in. He said times were hard and money had to be spread thin...but he liked those days a lot better. I guess every generation will think that way.... because in reality, if you believe in the KJV bible... times will continue to get worse until the return of Christ. These last few years have definitely accelerated... man, if this world continues on just another 20 years... Can you imagine what it's going to be like. I mean god can postpone the return of Christ. But if this world doesn't start praying and looking to god for guidance.... his return won't be too far in our future.
@@mizellhobbyshop The time to get ready is now. We don't know what the future holds but we are told to not let our hearts be trouble as it all has to come to pass. I too prefer those days to today's standards because I see what we have lost. However, we have to lose them in order to gain something far more better in eternity. Keep fighting the good faith:) Blessings
The show would be perfectly fine but the problem was the confederate propaganda. Just think about the facts that number one a big confederate flag on the roof. A flag which was only flown by the confederacy for 4 years and flown by the KKK for over 100 years. Number two the car was named after a confederate general and if you read the articles of secession the civil war had a lot to do with slavery. And number three Boss Hoggs name was Jefferson Davis. The name of the president of the confederacy. I loved the Dukes as a child but am mature enough to spot propaganda now that I’m older
@@sjwilson1079 that isn't propaganda, it's just a few names and a flag. If they were trying to shove Confederate propaganda down our throats, they wouldn't have made the only competent sheriff on the show a black man.
HTX original: If in case there was a Walmart I will most likely bet that Boss Hogg owns it like he owns almost everything in Hazzard County except for the Duke ranch.
I'll tell y'all something. That car is famous, no doubt. The show around the car taught us all how to be better humans. To me, that flag, because of that car, symbolizes unity. That's just a gearhead's take.
Foxmakesmodels :::::? I grew up watching Dukes every Friday night in the 78 and if you know the General there is a random dirt pile everywhere when needed....you say General you think of jumping , you say gravy you think of biscuits.... that’s if your a country boy ??? ✌🏼
I’m a 44 year old black man and I was a huge Dukes of Hazzard fan when I was young, because I always felt inside that the car with Bo and Luke Duke they always really wanted to unite people. The car was named the General Lee having a Confederate flag symbol; but rather to many it served as a personified doppelgänger only name wise to the actual man, yet, representing a total inverse way of thought about all races of people... Unification of all people seemed to be the Central Idea, and no matter what color you were; with Bo and Luke Duke added, your lying if you were growing up in the 80’s and say you weren’t a fan... I’m not saying the show fixed racism of course, because unfortunately it still exits today. However, in its own way the show did bring many different people of color together each week, as one of the hottest shows in its time for all folks to root for the same righteous causes, where everybody won in an equal positive way despite any criticisms from other traditional mindsets. So I can see why the whole production has continued to be cherished by many...
I'm a 44 year old white guy that loved and grew up with the Dukes. And it is still my favorite TV show of all time today! I still frequently watch them on my DVD season box sets. Yee Haw!!
I was born in the early 90's, but I love the Dukes of Hazzard. You have my mom to thank for introducing me to the show. She was a huge fan. I just bought the complete series, and my mom wants me to get it for her too. We were both mad when it was taken off air. Everytime it came on tv, we would record the episodes.
The Civil War started because the Southern states wanted to break free from the Union. Jefferson Davis & Robert E Lee were not racists people ...our history were written the way it was & there's nothing we can do to change it. Unfortunately, slavery was all over the entire world back in the 1800's including our country. Despite of a Confederate flag that was used as a battle flag for the Southern army back in 1862....think about all the freedoms and the great nation we have now. In America we have the freedom of speech & the right to disagree...what I saw on this video that I found to be inappropriate is the Mexican guys waiving their own flag....The Confederacy is a Southern thing...people from the South have a different way of living traditions and culture. Let us respect the American Spirit all across the nation.
Racism?? Coming from whom?? The Chicanos or Bo and Duke??? In my opinion I didn't get any of that. Just the usual Chicano Pride Style but I ignore that.. Fyi I'm from Mexico and I didn't get any racism from this movie other than Chicanos being jerks like always.
"Ugliest paintjob." “Pile of Junk.” “This wreck can keep up?” Oh well. The General Lee has been called worse in more recent years. Better to be called "ugly" than "racist."
Actually they are correct about the paint job. If my memory serves me well, the boys painted that flag and the number on the car by hand with a pencil and a brush. You have to be a skilfull painter to pull that off decently. And since the boys are no professional painters, I guess the paintjob isn't looking that good in closeup.
@@MowjiSukisyo-TheOneAndOnly Still less insulting than having someone say to them “You’re late for your Klan meeting, asshole.” Only because of the flag. (cough)2005 movie(cough).
@@gameoholic1994 Yeah.. the movie didn't have the same feeling as the series. It was off on so many levels. I did enjoy it but it was not like the series. And the flag is for me just a flag. I'm Dutch and I always regarded it as a simple sign of being of the South and/or being rebellious.
Anyone that thinks the general is a racist symbol clearly never seen the show, them boys were probably some of the most polite and welcoming men ever seen
I always 💘 The Dukes of Hazzard and as a 40 year black 👨 The show was always entertaining and always show 💘 2 everybody no matter what color u r man woman the Duke boys always had ur back through thick and thin and The tv show and The Dukes of Hazzard reunion in 1995 and The Dukes in Hollywood in 2000 was the last of the great tv shows 😊 420 🇺🇸 1969 Dodge Charger 440 my favorite 🚗
The General Lee is Badass ! 🤠 I grew up watching the Dukes of Hazzard. I had the lunch box, posters, and all kinds of General Lee cars. Hell I even had and still have a Confederate rebel flag in my room.
The Dukes were legendary television. Proof you can love the south, the rebel flag, General Gad Dam Lee, and not be "racist". There wasn't a person of any race, creed, or color, the Duke boys wouldn't help. All while driving the General Lee, rebel flag and all.
I am a huge extremely huge dukes of Hazzard fan I've went to Duke's fest in Nashville I'm really sad it don't show on TV anymore used to show on CMT but not anymore 😭😢💖
Removed from syndication because SJW's are to sensitive to see such a flag. They might have to many feelings... as you can see though the show never revolved around racism The toughest and most respected person the Dukes knew came from the next county over, he was a Black sheriff.. SJW' s dont care none of them have even given the show a view nor will they because of their sensitivities. The need to be outraged about something in their outrage culture..
Part of my retirement, from the day I call it quits at my job, will be to buy a '69 Dodge Charger and build and paint it as the General Lee. My intent is to get one with a lowly 318 automatic, so I'm not chopping up the more sought after 383s, 440s, or Hemis...... but I will replace it with a modern Hellcat Hemi and 6 speed manual. And then add all the modern creature comforts: air conditioning, power windows/lock, and cruise control. But make no mistake - it will be a performer, complete with 4 wheel disc brakes, independent rear suspension, padded roll cage and a 5 foot CB antenna whipping in the wind on the trunk!
Dukes of Hazzard is cool I like it. They need to put back on & bj and the besr & chips, mov' on ,18 wheels of Justice, fall guy, knight rider back on TV . They all very good shows
The milenial.movement only wants fake reality shows and other NPC trash so they can be told what to wear think and do, that way they do not have to have original thoughts..
I saw the first fast and furious in the movie theater. When Dom's charger popped that wheelie everybody went crazy! They were mostly import fans but you can tell they all respected it!
@@mr7badass over 300 general lees were destroyed during the show but kitt was a pos right.im not against the dukes of hazzard one of my favorite shows as a kid of the 80s.
Soy de Argentina Me gustaría saber Si es una nueva serie O la continuación de la original!!!! Soy fanatico de esta Serie y sin mas del DODGE CHARGER!!!
thanks to meeting these boys, im gonna go race paul walker, get caught, go to prison, make a prison break with Michael Scofield and T-Bag, and then who knows where I'll go after that?
I did see the reunion movie and this one. I remember being happy that Bo found love, and Daisy in black leather riding a motorcycle. I think she became a stunt woman in Hollywood. 'Ol Waylon didn't do the narration for the movies, but when I saw him in '96 he did plug the first reunion movie and then finished his set with "Good 'Ol Boys".
I used to watch the Dukes of Hazzard as a kid, and there's something I never thought of that I think about now, when it rains they can't close the window.
I guess the producers of this movie will not be making a sequel to this. If they do, I do know one thing that my husband and I will watch it very much.
Well, what is important here is that everybody wins. Bo and Luke saved a guy from street fighting. They think that fighting will always win but if they show them what the General Lee can do then they will become your friends. Bo Duke won Gabby's heart because they love to sing songs.
Tracy Baughman it’s got absolutely nothing to do with who is in office, it’s not on TV anymore & nothing is being made because Warner Bros decided it, they own it & wanted to kill it because they were afraid of backlash.
julie brtek no it’ll never be back because of Warner Bros, look up John Schneider’s movie Collier & Co and then look up his new movie coming out on DVD in November, called Christmas Cars, closest you’ll get to the Dukes.
I seen both reunions and loved both wish they would do another one but they r getting up there in. Age the newer one that was done wasn't that good. To me
It's crazy how alike them Good Ol'Boys are like Mexicans! This clip kind of captures that! When I was growing up in the hood in Cal everyone loved The Dukes of Hazard!
They should have thought some of those vatos how to slide across the hood while they were in the hood...... never mind, they'd have to pull their pants up to do that.
the theme it says just some good old boys never meaning no harm beats all you ever saw been in trouble with the law since the day they was born . How many of us watched this show dreaming to be right there with Bo and Luke fighting bad guys and boss hog in that car. Now where does skin color fit in that it doesn't
Holyshit There's an actual episode I never saw Before hell I bet there's more I've never seen... they should bring the Dukes of Hazzard back to life make a new series about it
It's not fair to not show reruns of this show, just because the car is called General Lee with a rebel flag on top. Not once in any episode have I heard them say anything racist. They still show The Jeffersons and George Jefferson said Honky a shit load of times and put down white people, and they still show reruns of that show. Now that's a racist show.
