I've seen the giant motors, the rigging, the pulleys, cables wiring and construction of old Otis elevators. They were so strong, overbuilt, and durable, they were a delight. Some almost 100 years old, still running strong, smooth, fast and solid. Otis is a great company. They are responsible for today's skyscrapers. Without reliable safety elevators, New York and other cities would not have the skyscraper buildings of today. Elevator technology paved the way for architectural improvements to build tall.
