You guys are always asking me for fresh new ideas for birthday cakes, so in this episode, I'm showing you a birthday cake that I personally made for someone very special in my life - my brother-in-law's 50th birthday! 🎂✨
With one cake in the shape of a "5" and the other in the shape of a "0," this two-in-one birthday cake duo serves not only as birthday cake but as a dessert platter (or a "cakeceterie board" as I like to
call it).
You guys know I'm big on customizations, and I love showing you cakes that you can have a lot of fun customizing and creating.
For example, this cake was for a 50th birthday, but you can change the numbers for any birthday age. This also makes a great anniversary cake!
You can also experiment with flavor and customize the treats and desserts to satisfy the palette of the person you are making them for. In this case, two of my brother-in-law's favorite flavors are chocolate and lime, so I made one of the cakes exclusively chocolate flavored and the other topped
with zesty lime desserts.
Having two distinct cakes that are different flavors vs mixing them also helps to provide variety for the guests attending the party to choose from. They can choose one flavor or the other OR take a slice of each to mix flavors (which is my favorite thing to do!)
