It may be wise to use your piwis to enable the pccb option in your psm. This is to reduce the chance of ice-mode kicking in on the track under sudden heavy braking (eg at the end of a straight) I regularly race a 987.1 with 15 other people and we all do this. Those who forget have scary ice-mode issues.

+Hans Westerbeek ooooh… haven’t heard about this before. Sounds like another video. Can you share or direct me to more details?

There’s some rennlist threads on this topic. Basically, the combination of sticky tires, racing brakepads and heavy braking overwhelms the ABS which then desides to apply only 25% brake pressure. When it happens, the only immediate remedy is to lift off the brakes and re-apply.

@@hanswesterbeek2465 scary! I’ll definitely have to research and make a video. Thanks!

Thanks Aaron for yet another great video. My daughter has an 07 Cayman and I was able to fix her driver’s door window using one of your previous videos. If she ever needs brakes, I’m prepared. Thanks again.

The trick on getting phillips screws to loosen up it to first turn them to the right as if you are tightening them; that will free them up and allow you to then start turning the screw to the left in order to loosen it up all the way.
@HelpMeDIY

+mike dx that’s only because they are terrible and usually already partially stripped to the left and the right had more bite 😆

Didn't see it mentioned in the comments but wanted to throw it out there, put the calipers on, bolt them down, then put the pads in. The pads are meant to slip in and out with the caliper bolted down. Should make things a tad easier for you.

Love the honesty of your videos, I’m sure we’ve all done the hand brake slip up before, I know I have. Still enjoying and using as reference all the boxster/cayman videos. Many thanks 🤪👍

Hit the flat area between the wheel studs with a hammer. I mean hit it! You won't hurt anything. 3lb sledge works great. That, 99% of the time, will free up your screws. A little surface tension is all that holds them. If you happen to strip any out, a chisel and hammer are the best way to remove from any manufacturer.

Slotted brakes best for the track!
@HelpMeDIY
@HelpMeDIY Год назад
+Brian Sturgill like most things, I think it depends on who you ask 😂. I found this just now: “Drilled rotors have the same benefits as slotted rotors, but to greater extent. The holes keep the pad and rotor surfaces clean and clear of dirt and moisture. This increases brake bite (and helps keep the brake performance in tip-top shape). Some drivers feel that drilled rotors perform better in wet conditions than any other rotor design. Drilled rotors are lighter than traditional smooth rotors. Because of this, drilled rotors have lower rotational inertia. That means your vehicle can accelerate and stop faster with drilled rotors. Drilled rotors maintain cooler operating temperatures, as well. It’s because the holes provide improved ventilation.”
