All those reactions in the comment section of people who don't understand how this truck combination works and why he jackknives his trailer. First of all, the first manouvre of the truck driver where he jackknives the trailer is because he wants to check the trailer lights at the end of his work day without leaving his cabin... No harm to the trailer intended and it isnt a fuck up in his reversing , he's well aware of what he's doing and this is not something you do daily. Second thing is. The middle axle of the trailer is lifted. That means the wheels don't touch the ground so the tires wont be harmed. The tires on the most rear axle are spinning independent from each other to avoid major wear when doing this. The trailer is even equiped with a extended drawbar. I'm from holland and these trucks and trailer chassis are made to do this because of the small farms/loading area's where these kind of trucks do their work. If needed these trucks can even do this while carying load.
Well said, makes me angry when people comment on things they have no idea about. Driver was vigilant and totally incontrol But there are plenty of numpty drivers out there without a clue
@@macdill927 well, in this case he is, because he’s the owner if I don’t mistake 🤣 but still, you’re right, the lift axle argument is shit because the other tires are still turning in place
Used to drive these drawbar rigs with demountable bodies. There was no need to jacknife the rig in the first Manouvre. He just needed to keep right on approach thru the gates then swing it left until the rig straightens up and reverse the trailer round to the loading area.
The commentary explains what he does in the first manoeuvre, so don’t judge to soon. He says he’s showing off ‘if you’re a good combo driver you check your own rear lights’. More of a joke/showoff thing, I’m sure he doesn’t do that every day he just shows off that he can control the trailer however he likes
The maneuver he did was not in order to park. Take a look at the lights on the trailer at 0:43. The driver did this to check the lights on the back of his trailer, which the person in the start of the video said. (In Dutch.) It’s unfortunate that the uploader of the video didn’t explain what was going on in English in the video description. There’s a LOT of people who completely misunderstood what this was about, me included.
Many drivers struggle to back up a unit with a single pivot point (semi-trailer) backing a full trailer (double pivots points) is exponentially more difficult.
Я вообще не понял что он сделал! Заехал на территорию, взял правее больший радиус и налево, к легковушкам. Сдал назад. Вуаля! А тут и шины порвал, и телегу выкрутил... Хер знает.

Where on this planet is THIS amazing ??? ??? On the contrary there are senconds that were dangerous ! To move to the left side of this area every truck driving beginner in Germany could do that in half of that time and with less maneuvres...

first of all good day. 13L or 15L. 500-600 hp. 6 or 8 cylinders. 0 km. How many thousand dollars are only the truck engine prices? I want information from you. thanks.
There should be a warning: "dont do this with loaded trailer". But still the driver got skills. He makes it fast. And tires and fuel you can save on a highway. Most drivers dont.
I have never driven a drawbar combination like that, but from what I can see he only did all that nonsense so he could see his trailer lights from the cab???
I’m not a truck driver, but I used to drive a long Mercedes Sprinter van with various trailers on it, and when I wanted to check the lights at the back, and there happened to be a reflective surface nearby like windows on a garage door, or a vehicle with a dark paint job on it, I would just back up to that and use it as a mirror. But only if it was raining or something like that. The guy in the video may just have been showing off AND being lazy at the same time, but it did look like it took a couple of seconds less, than doing it the old fashioned way. 😄
In the commentary he basically said just for the poops and laughter he was going to check his lights from the drivers seat. In the real world it's a useful move in some really tight yards. Push the prime mover and trailer parallel to each other and load through the back of the prime mover and front of the trailer, best with light loads though as the wheels on the a frame will be along the trailer not under it.
@Glen Jones Indeed. In any case, even though this was a superfluous manoeuvre, (I'm convinced that this was motivated by 90% showing off, 8% laziness, and 2% his colleagues egging him on 😏) it is definitely a good idea to challenge and improve your skills in the art of reversing your 25.25 meter long rig into "impossibly narrow" places, in order to be ready for the sometimes not-so-rare occasions, where you find yourself backing down a narrow alleyway that is only 2 meters wider than the trailer, followed by a sharp bend into a loading bay that you can't see. (And there's no available spotter to help you.) Come to think of it, I really miss the challenge of reversing with trailers semi-blindly into narrow spaces. Especially with trailers that are so narrow, that it can't be seen from the cab when it's aligned with the van, or ones that are really short! 😌
Nothing amazing about this drivers skills, he can easily jack the draw bar trailer round and simply reverse into the space in a single shunt, plenty of space in that yard even with a righthand drive vehicle!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
To adjust the angle of the mirrors, he's looking at the rear wheel of the trailer to make sure it's not rolling. The first rear trailer axle is not rolling no matter what, because it's lifted.
De lichten controleren had je moeten doen voordat je wegreed. En als je goed het terrein op gereden was had je meteen kunnen terug zetten maar je moest gewoon opscheppen met wat je kon maar het is wel slecht.
What was the point in that 🤷🏻♂️ could have pulled forward to where he first was and reversed an artic to where he ended up without that stupid maneuver he did
Guys, why so negative. I know this guy. He’s the owner of the company. He’s a kind and funny guy. He was just showing in a funny way how you can check the trailer lights.
@@ibelieveyou2066 its funny how you contradict yourself there with UK and then Australia right after... which is just like UK compared to the US in trucking, sit down sir
@@ibelieveyou2066 roads are straight and wide in Australia, unlike Europe. But you seem to comment like you know a thing or two about what truck drivers do in a day, especially when everything he did was utterly pointless. The 1st manouver, nearly hitting the fence, checking lights in jacknife when he comes to a yard, dry steering.
