A performance of 'Amazing Grace' during the 194th Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held on April 6-7, 2024.
This is the most beautiful arrangement and performance of "Amazing Grace" I have ever heard. Beautiful. You UVU students invited the Spirit with such power.
Thank you for posting this! What a wonderful rendition of the "Amazing Grace", that makes our hearts swell with inspiration. Thank you Utah Valley Institute Choir:)
This was absolutely the most spiritually, uplifting, beautiful incredible musical number. It was of another realm. The chord progressions gave me goose bumps. Angelic, amazing, memorable. I want to own this one. Make a single of this one! Absolutely I would buy the record. 100%. It brought me to tears sitting on my family room couch. I want more from this choir! And the conductor was superb!
WONDERFUL performance by the UVU Institute - THANK YOU! (One of the highlights of General Conference, to be sure!) The lyrics were composed by John Newton, a man who spent years as captain of a slave-trading ship, until his "eyes were opened" during a life-threatening tempest at sea. He embraced Christianity, and became a powerful voice for the abolition of slavery. The tune is described as "an American folk tune." One thing that makes it unique - the melody can be played using only the black keys on a piano... and it likely became popular partly because non-piano-players could quickly pick it up.
