Just to clarify for anyone who doesnt know, Lies of P is more inspired by the original serial stories and has absolutely nothing to do with the Disneyfied Pinocchio. In fact, the devs are considering using The Wizard Of Oz as their next inspiration, going all-in on the literary influence. Just wanted to clarify in case someone isnt aware Pinocchio was a book first!
Right! The original serialization was quite dark and it was well worth diving into the source material every time a new character popped up. I haven’t a clue what they’ll do with the Wizard of Oz, though Dorthy slaying the wicked witch of the west with a massive greatsword sounds delightful.
Great list. There is an entire genre of “Soulsvania” games these days, but I still say Salt & Sanctuary did it first and did it best. No shade on Blasphemous, Blasphemous 2, and Ender Lilies. I dare say they are better games as an overall package, but Salt is the best translation of Souls elements to an indie 2D format.
