What a neat game. Can't believe that Tom didn't pick Cardio at 15:30 . Hasn't he heard it beats chaos?

It does add a few unique wrinkles to the VS formula: - Be careful avoiding common and especially tainted upgrades. Upgrades will appear until you finish the item. And those have tons of very small levels. 999 on a tainted even. You need to pick efficient upgrades - non-weapon upgrades have a trade offs - Multiple maps with randomized goals in a Slsy the Spire overworld is AFAIK a unique idea

This, and a lot of games like it, really need a good sound and/or visual indicator of when you're taking damage. There's usually soooo much going on that you can be annihilated quickly without even realizing it. That beam the boss at the end was using was almost impossible to see.

Oh man! Not sure if I was just imagining it, but it seemed like the more enemies killed in an area, the bloodier it got, and that is just so super cool

Man, that is one _gorgeous_ art style, and a fusion of a couple game types that I am really in to. Thank you, Tom for slowly filling my library with these games I'd probably never have found otherwise.

Feels weird progressing _upward_ through a map rather than down, like in Peglin... Probly cus of all the Peglin... lol

Rogue: Genesia is one of my favorite games in the Survival Rogue-like genre. Its kind of a Japanese style Fantasy RPG in the fact that world difficulty is based on an Alphabetical Rank scale. Unfortunately there are only two World Ranks out right now, but you can play them in either campaign or survival mode. The higher the rank the world the more biomes you fight through. There ARE a lot of weapons & weapon combinations though. It's fun to build as traditional RPG classes and only picking soulcards that fit those roles.

This is to Super Ghouls and Ghosts what VS is to Castlevania. And I dig that.

This is such a fun game to watch. Really pretty with a ton going on all the time on screen. 🙌

I beat you to playing this one as well! It's a great example of how the genre can evolve and become better, rather than regurgitating clones. For anyone playing: You unlock about twice as much as what you start with. You'll keep getting 'achievements' done and they all unlock new cards, idols and weapons, so keep playing, it feels like a whole different game when you unlock a bunch of stuff. Also, the stat bonuses are multiplicative, so you can get some crazy combinations (I think the highest % damage I got was 33k%).

I've always liked to refer to those eye monsters as flyballs.

I played a bit of this game and really enjoy it, my only real complaint is sometimes you can just grind out the elite kills for way too long where in other games you would get mobbed and killed

Honestly I got bored of this one super quick, the enemies don't seem that interesting, and the progression is basically cookie clicker style with letter ranks (f - e - d etc.) so one A rank upgrade or monster is like a thousand or ten thousand f ranked upgrades or mobs. No characters just the same base dude. It was fun enough for a few hours, but right now, it's just not for me.

have you given up on playing good games? it's all "kill some things in an arena and get a level-up to be more killy"
