You must give credit where credit is due. Badly written or not, this show and the entire cinematic Middle-earth saga is absolutely beautiful. I can't imagine how much effort goes into getting the best shots of the most gorgeous landscapes. To create the most immersive atmosphere and compose the most fitting music. To make the miniatures of the towers and cities as detailed as possible and to make the visual effects look as real as possible. To put all the prosthetics on the talented actors and choose good clothes/armours for them. To get all those horses. And finally, to record everything with the most advanced equipment currently available. No wonder this show is estimated to end up costing over a billion to make. The story of Middle-earth is and will remain the best fantasy story ever.

Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy is a masterpiece. The Hobbit trilogy (also made by Peter Jackson) is both loved and hated. But I don't want to imagine how much they loved and others didn't like The Rings of Power. And it is that to be honest, it has a perfect cinematography, with a very high budget, but both the story (in my opinion) is not so bad. And honestly, I liked it, despite the criticism. And also when House of dragon ends, it also deserves its own video.

Good cinematography doesnt always equal great tv/film. It surely helps, and The rings of Power isn't inherently bad, yet it certainly isn't stellar either. Characthers feels wasted or their arc, while making sense, isnt entirely compelling; the slow pacing works well for the first 3 episodes, where a slow rhytm is matched with plenty of world and characther building (atop visual splendor) but drags while in Numenor almost to a alt. It regains momentum in the last 3 episodes, but, for a 495 milion doar budget, the battle in episode 6 felt underwhelming both in scale and execution

@@carlosilvi9044, you're allowed to have that opinion. I think differently tho. Personally, I found a lot of it to be compelling. But I was mainly speaking on the quality of the VFX and Cinematography, both being absolutely stellar for a television production.

A lot of television shows have just as much financial backing as Avatar and Endgame combined and I think it's great and I think this show is among one of the best looking shows on television to date. I also thought the storyline was really good too but that's just my opinion. Yes, the visual quality is VERY impressive for a television show because of the fact that it is very much comparable to a 300 million dollar blockbuster like Endgame and that is not meant to be an insult in any way. Most television shows look really good nowadays but this show looked great and for a television show to look THIS good is impressive. It's a feat that should be celebrated.

@@cinematicgoodness7325 nah, this is (statistically) the first tv show that has a production value comparable (in this case higher) than the likes of Avatar, Avengers, Pirates of the Caribbean etc, GOT itself had a 90 mln budget for season 8, and almost a 200 mln budget for HOTD, whereas the rings of power had a 700 mln budget for the first season alone (450 for the production+250 for the rights), the series has a 2.5 bln total budget across its 5 seasons length…I’m glad you enjoyed it, personally I found it incredibly disappointing…btw Avengers Endgame had a 356 mln budget and Avatar has a 250 mln budget, Pirates of the Caribbean:on stranger tides is the movie with the highest budget ever (378 mln), and ROP tops them all in terms of budget

It's incredible how good it looks at times and how bland others. Sometimes the composition and lighting are great but half of the time it feels forced and flat, uninteresting, meaningless. Often it's not fault of the cinematography but of the direction and set desigsn. This happenned mostly in Khazad Dum, where it all felt terribly restricted, what resulted in bland lighting, camera movements and composition (the establishing shots mainly). Luckily the special effects departents completely delivered.

The finale was a hot mess but I actually quite enjoyed the rest of the show, as someone who hasn't read the books and isn't familiar with much of Tolkien's work beyond LOTR and The Hobbit (though I definitely intend to now after having completed the show)

The worst thing is how easy to fix so many of the problems were. Overall I don't think the show is bad, but it's truly infuriating. Some acting like Elendil and Celebrimbor were good, but I think the main reason was the lack of direction.
