I have one EPIC video for you today. First, this is one of my most detailed cleaning and pressing videos to date. I felt like I skimped out on the cleaning and pressing components of my last project video, and as a result, I have doubled it up here! I tried out some new camera angles and now have close ups of cleaning, dent removal, humidification, and pressing, with tips and tricks along the way.
Now for the drama. This book started out as an ASM 129 CGC 4.0 with White Pages. It was supposed to be just a normal crack and press project. However, after receiving it back from CGC, I was shocked to find that it had been slapped with a purple (restored) label for "Cover Cleaned". Usually this is the result of heavy eraser marks, or more commonly now, cover whitening. However, there was none of that here. As a test of the system, I cracked the book again and invested a lot more time in fixing every last defect that I could. This involved going page-by-page and using a method called "hot shots" to remove the dent and bend that ran through the book (see the "advanced methods for comic book pressing" video for more details). I submitted it again to CGC and received some more shocking results. Watch the video for the big reveal! I will be posting another video soon titled "purple poison" explaining what I think happened with the initial submission!
Enjoy!
